My mother cooked spaghetti
When she made her fish croquettes,
The salmon from a can, a dish
One easily forgets.
Ronzoni was her pasta brand;
The box was blue and bold.
This never varied, even though
Some other brands were sold.
The water boiled inside a pot
And when the time arrived
To drop in the spaghetti,
We were somehow all deprived
Of a meal Italians would condone
Because – you might just laugh –
To make the cooking easier,
She broke the strands in half!
It never felt quite right to me,
Yet when I cook today,
I understand exactly why
She made her dish that way.
You have to force spaghetti down,
Unless your pot is huge,
So breaking it in half is like
A clever subterfuge.
I cook it in the proper way
And haven’t backed down yet,
But I still can’t get my spouse to try
The go-with fish croquette!
Love is known as the best medicine, after all,
But chocolate is an excellent medicine,
Citronette is an excellent medicine too,
Praline is a medicine that can be enjoyed,
Leave loves in their pink cardboard box,
Unpack treats and yellow nougatines,
Orangette is the best medicine, in bed,
To take with his green tea in the evening or solo,
Love is a divine medicine, now and everywhere
But Cognac croquette is a love medicine,
Poetry is the best medicine, in many places
With dark chocolate. Or colored sweeties.
TINA'S BIRTHDAY.
I am so excited,my little hands prepare,
For a party magical, unique that will be rare.
Its my dearest friend Tina's birthday,
A pixie cutest and tiniest of today.
Sunshine amiably reflects a smile like a pogo baby,
Daisies, lilies, roses in my garden get flowy.
Flowers wear makeup for Tina's bouquet,
Devoted fairies cook bake dishes and croquette.
A diminutive magical gnome takes charge,
For garden's ornamentation,he is incharge.
In collaberation with all,my garden gleams,
All well dressed,my pride beams.
A grand occasion its gonna be,
Birthday babe in pink frock,is happy to be.

Thin Vignette
Skinny Minnie? Not yet!
Want to be one? You bet!
Are you starving, full of fret?
Want to give up at onset?
Publish goals in a gazette.
Tell yourself you’ll not regret.
Never worry; never fret.
Choice of foods can be reset.
Meat? Eggs? Proteins? Mindset –
Watch proportions; Ready! Set!
Soon, pounds fly like a fanjet!
Keep on going! Don’t stop yet!
Put your thinking on reset.
Seek and join a “cool” quartet.
Go outside and play croquette.
Make new friends; do not typeset.
Never give up! Ready, set –
Win your prize; there dies regret.
You can be a health cadet.
Eat three meals before sunset.
Healthy treat between each set.
See how skinny you will get.
When you're in the “Thin Vignette”,
Use a straw not a pipette.
DEDICATED to my health guru whose name I shall publish, with permission, after I loose my first 40 pounds!
Thank you, you know who! SMILES!
