One of my first poems
resurfaces in my mind
as I recall my
beginnings as a Poet
I reminisce about
peaceful times when
Peace and Harmony
were plentiful, bountiful
It's amazing how things
can filter through your thoughts
causing emotions
that surreptitiously cement
your current actions
It is all one
big joy ride
that convalesces through
existential surroundings
bound by convictions
that put you in a place
that is calm, serene
eclipse suspends
sun convalesces in ease –
shadows cast promise
These woods are like a mother
putting all embers out.
Sweet wind winnows me out of
all secret worries.
As I dip myself into the woody stream,
tension termites disappear.
Throats of birds broadcast unceasing songs
like our FM station.
When a tribesman squeezes a honey-comb, I
ride my tongue up the palm.
My mind convalesces slowly here
under the foliage.
Fireflies fly out through the windows
of my skull.
Fresh thoughts are cooked in the seclusion
of the woods.
Shoots of dreams reappear, breaking the dried
pods of my memory.
I see the fossils of a paradise, which we had lost
under the past.

Hailing from the tribe of Judah
King David was both a warrior and a poet
Who wrote the book of Psalms
His pen flowed with beautiful verses
King David was a man after God's own heart
When he slew Goliath that set him apart
He was annointed to be Israel's King
Though the lust in his heart caused him to sin
Saul envied him, and wanted to hurt him
But he was divinely protected anywhere he fled
From his line would come the King of Kings
Who gave us salvation and healing

David, as you take this time to care for your wife
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Wishing all the best as she convalesces.
