a letter to my editor

a letter to my editor
I have tried to get more cash to spend
on introducing me to a bigger audience
I contacted many of my readers on X and asked for
A contribution sent to Hillshire will not come
amiss so far nothing.
I could have asked the man himself, but I will not
He suffers from the insecurity that rich people
People who suffer from that, we like them for the money
I happen to like Elon Musk because he struggles
with a deep-seated shyness like my brother did
So his life is not that easy
So, therefore, just print the en book and send
a couple of copies to me, I shall be nothing more
than mulch in the acre of poetry

both of them knew their sister was dying
neither of them called or contacted her
holding a grudge
while she was dying?
their own sister?
what kind of women are these?

a hand cart and a ring

A Handcart and a Ring

A man I knew had a handcart and became self-employed
I often saw him in the town with a load of parcels and sometimes furniture
He was a contented man.
One day, on his way to the railway station, the wheel of his cart came off
four suitcases fell into the street.
So, what to do?
He traced his steps and soon found the missing pieces that kept the wheel
on the axle, but he also found an expensive diamond ring
he put it in his pocket as he was occupied with fixing the wheel
and get his load of suitcases to the railway station
In the paper, he read about a lady who had lost a dear ring
he contacted her via the paper, and she was happy,
she didn’t give him any money because, as she said, honesty has its reward
The people at the paper thought this was too mean for words
made a collection and handed the kind man the money.
A Picture of him and his cart, the paper, and a nice story for the paper to sell.
when too old to push his cart around, he became a poet of the small things in life
and not about  the life of aristocrats

Loved, loathe and will leave

Early October.
I accidentally came across your message,
I dare not open it, after it caught my eye "Police contacted. You..."
What did he try to prove?
End of September, a note was hand delivered direct to your letter box.
I did that to have a closure and
To show you for the first and last time,
I could also be in control of the situation.
I loved you so much, I did not exercise it in the past.
I let you enjoyed it, then you abused it.
I thoroughly checked with the Police,
My message was loud and clear,
To accept what you have requested.
Police assured me, it was fine to deliver,
Because it had no threat nor harassment either.
You only messaged to intimidate me further,
As you always did with the use of your language.
It was not long ago, I crafted on the apple's skins,
"We loved you, we loathe you, and we will forget you".
What have you done to my dear friend?
What did you do to Reach and Sent?
Please go away, leave me and my memories alone.
You have done enough to our relationship,
There was plenty of bitter and sweet.
Goodbye, good luck and good grief.

Premium MemberToo Stoned to Care, circa 1969

   Too stoned to care
     wild eyes and hair
   My friend and I dare
     to order four pizzas

   Where are your friends
     the manager inquired
Oh, they’ll be here in a bit
     our tongues purebred liars

Well, we snarfed down the pizzas
     though ‘our friends’ never showed
So, when we asked the proprietor
     how much we owed…

   He told us $200 bucks
‘coz it’s just your good luck
to meet up with a fellow sleaze
     who understands your ‘munchies’
~ and has already contacted the fuzz

Premium MemberSome New Found Friends

As a new resident in a rural farming community,
I was shown a picture of a black bear by a new
found friend. Thinking this sighting to be news worthy,
I said, "Have you contacted the news media about this? "
With a respectful gaze, he informed me that bears were
Not uncommon in the area. I thought to myself that I never
'signed up for black bears' when I decided to relocate to Mississippi.
Other wildlife experiences have been: watching a stray cat eat a
wild rabbit. Stopping on a highway for a baby alligator to safely cross.
Being startled by a snake hanging from my back door, and my wife
Being shocked to see another snake wrapped around the door nob
of our front door. Experiencing a black bear greeting me at the window
as I was writing on my computer. Except for the baby alligator, none
of these wild life encounters were pleasant ones.

What Is It, Part II

The mind, a cloud of neurons
Packed snug within the deep grooves of the skull
Tiny worlds reaching out to all their neighbors
Across great gulfs of the brain
Communicates ceaselessly via little bolts of lightning
Adding to a sum far exceeding the whole;
The miracle of consciousness reborn every millisecond
Within the storm.

It knows what it is,
Has named itself,
Taken note there are other like storms roaming about.
Has contacted them and joined with them
Building knowledge, history, civilizations
Searching for more, evermore like itself
To find meaning in the fearful Vastness
It knows it is suspended in.

All this it does
Managing its frail,complicated Self.

It knows the body it inhabits dies,
Beyond which, it knows not.

But it speculates.

Premium MemberUnbridgeable Chasm

There are few things cannot be fused today.
Even the impossible, there always is a way.
Whenever two things, we need them to meet.
We find a way, even if it’s a miraculous feat.

Something that humans are yet to achieve.
Is a phenomenon that’s very hard to believe.
There is a wide chasm that so many dread.
It’s the gulf between the living and the dead.

Clairvoyants and soothsayers all have tried.
None really have contacted those that died.
Have some really seen ghosts and a spirit?
Did they actually get up close and near it?

Have they returned from Heaven back to earth,
Or souls roaming this planet round its girth?
Spirits not yet, been to Heaven they wait
Searching this world in vain for Heaven's Gate?

It’s not a bridge that He wants us to build.
So we could visit Heaven whenever we willed.
So apart from us seeing a ghost or phantasm.
Heaven to earth is an Unbridgeable Chasm.

Premium MemberEnchanting Email Surprise

A Greek sister, from my past, contacted me.
It was as if she were here, not across the sea!

What a difference an email astoundingly can make.
In a world of indifference, here came love not hate,

Touch the many souls as you do really care for.
On each holiday,a remembrance, forever more!

Premium MemberGenerational Rifts

Remember holding your first born child?
The wonder of this newborn mesmerized you…
Remember when they took their first step?
How proud you were as they turned and smiled at you…
Remember when they said, that precious first word?
The joy of hearing them articulate clearly…
Remember when they started school?
How you held back the tears, they grow so fast!
Remember when they started questioning you?
You felt such gratitude for being able to teach them…
Remember when the school first contacted you?
The apprehension that others did not appreciate your child…
Remember when they snuck out at night?
The vigil you held waiting for that call…
Remember the relief mingled with anger, time and again?
How could you have produced such a contrary individual…
Remember the full-fledged adult before you?
The one you have loved deeply…
Remember each stage of their growth?
They still need you!

Premium MemberTell It Like It Is 2

The God I came to know so long ago when just
a child is the same God my mother introduced
to me. I know that God today, and He will be
the same God that I will know tomorrow.

He is not abstract, mysterious, or hidden.
He must be contacted within a context.
I have come to know Him as the God of the Bible.
I choose to never drift outside the Biblical context.

That approach is the foundation of what I have come to
believe, and it is my choice because it is God's mandate.
Personal encounters in dreams, medicines, out-of-body
experiences or the 'unexplainable' must need bow to

the context of Scripture. Even if dressed in tradition
and wearing the name of Christianity, if our endeavors
of religion are pre or post-Biblical or otherwise, it
is 'time-out'. As the Biblical psalmist would say, "Selah".

It's high time we pause.
We are out of bounds;
beyond the rule of play,
and the game is over.

Assembly

When I was young, each Friday
Was Assembly day at school.
We wore white shirts and navy skirts;
Red ties made us look cool.

We pledged allegiance, sang the song
And did as we were told.
Who knew “assembly” would be
Something bad when I got old?

I ordered a TV stand;
For “Assembly?” I checked “no,”
Believing we could do it, but
Once here, we both said, “Whoa!”

I contacted the company
And yes, it’s not too late.
I’ll hear from their assembly team
To thus arrange a date.

They charged my card but now I wait;
There seems to be a glitch.
The wooden parts, unpacked, are stacked;
The sight just makes me twitch.

Assembly once had rules I knew
And followed to a T.
Today no special outfit
Would give any help to me.
