Reflections In a Cemetery

It’s lovely here especially in the Fall,
the Maples are tall and burning bright.

The graves and crypts are ornate and marbled,
old money made them.

I thank them all for being here before me;
for me though, a cremation
and a river journey awaits.

I imagine fishes nibbling at my ghost,
abandoned truck tires
accommodating my swirling ashes.

Eventually a karmic wheel
may turn to my turn.

In generations perhaps, I'll be transformed
through new seeded dreams
                              into a beautiful Maple tree
in an autumn cometary for the well-heeled
                  and long planted.

I could not see her face,
She was completely ensconced,
Head to foot in silky white,
Rose-adorned chantilly lace.

The lace was light and airy
lit up and shining from within,
As if her wandering soul
Were a star, a lost cometary.

She moved across the room
As if familiar with its shape,
Paused before the fireplace,
Smoky tendrils curling around her like a plume.

She turned away, ghost lace flowing,
Then vanished leaving only the faintest trace
Of a lingering delicate perfume,
And the antique window drapes blowing.

The Car Dump

They lie stagnant day by day, year by year as time goes idly by.
Their days of glory has ended but not totally forgotten.
All colors, makes, models, years are placed in their final resting place,
like the dead in a secluded cometary.

Bushes and shrubs have overgrown them from view.
Broken headlights,busted tire and extreme deterioration;
have become the end result of some or yet most of these once greatly
esteemed automobiles.

people come every so often to salvage what little is left of them,
or to reminisce about the glamour of their productive years,
yet....at the end of the day, they are alone once again, still remaining in the
shadows of their past

The Deluge

Initially, a gentle teardrop falling from the heavens,
quickening its pace, a cleansing shower emerges
and washes away the filth
accumulated since the last.
Fresh black earth, soft and dry
quickly becomes a quagmire
threatening to engulf all it touches.
As the shower intensifies,
it becomes a wall of water
trying to suffocate all things.
Gently rolling hills are quickly drowned under.
Trickling streams fill to fast
and awash over their boundaries,
taking trees, homes, and lives alike.
It takes everything in its' path
and slowly deposits it along its' way
leaving a trail of destruction.
The waters' strength is deceptive from afar.
Yet, up close, the roar can be felt from within.
Receding slowly, new life reawakens
formed in the cometary of what once was.

Throne

Your attitude
Is overwhelming
What's your problem?
Can you even tell me?

You act like
You're better than everyone else
Chances are
You don't even know yourself

The skeletons in your closet
Could fill up a cometary
And you act like you're above me?
That's what's really scary

Take a look in the mirror
And hop off your self-imposed throne
If you don't change your attitude
You will die bitter and alone
