Thunderbolt

With the mystical whiff
Dousing the air
he beckons hurriedly
Enticing the day
into the night
standing tall
he struts into the deed
defying every lurking laws
rummaging cloak and dagger
defiling the hallowed hollows
thus, infuriating the sitting gods

Spill the tea, tipped up spout, stirred
    Friction mixes fiction into fructose
    Whispers pull expectant ears close
Muffled message can barely be heard

Listen where truth and lies intertwine
Hot off the press, a hopscotch
    Pebble thrown, trending watch
    Manoeuvred over as squares 3- 6- 9

    Folded inside last week’s newspaper
    Transfer blur, ink bleed injury
    Tear away band-aid gingerly
    Atrocities reduced to peculiar caper

Shrine to memory melts fact, flimsy
    Shadows spread black plague
    Smokey mirror, images vague
    Cloak and dagger funhouse whimsy

Pressed for truth, tea bags shrivel
Leaking last drips of drunk dribble

Footsteps echo in the corridor of doubt
A thoughtless mind in lasting drought

Dried up thoughts = washed up habits
Habits sprint like wild jackrabbits

Peaking like a vicious storm crashing ashore
Spreading like a wind-blown poisonous spore

Quick to arrive and leave like molasses
An IV drip through jade-colored glasses

Finally absent with absconded talent
An effort must be made which is gallant

Habitual company was a psychological ally
Fool’s gold with cratering lows and smile so wry

Laborious efforts chased away idiosyncrasies
Stillness in idle dimensions begins to squeeze

Echoes turn to laughter then escalate to shouting
Distinctive accents with tunnel vision spouting

Usher the consigliere back to increase productivity
Compulsive companion whispering notes of creativity

Sweet surreal thoughts return to illuminate possibilities
Cautiously withdraw avoiding cloak and dagger hostilities

He just ran off the cliff.
The witnesses said something looked to have drove him wild.
A lady said that she saw a cloaked figure and then that figure just disappeared out of sight.

He had just been acquitted of that murder case, found not guilty at that trial.
Taken the land and the wealth of that family by some legal loopholes and lines.

The judge spoke of the past and how the case was similar to one of another time.
With the same names of people involved and the same motives and family ties.

Except one hundred years ago his ancestor walked free to a privileged life.
The other family disappeared into the destitution and poverty of that life.

Now a curse was brought upon the titled name of the demised. It’s said an invisible force would be forever watching through invisible eyes.

It’s said that if another of that family name was found innocent of their guilt by the legal powers that preside.

Justice would be served by a cloaked dagger that would strike from a distant time.

Hacking the Fact

Secret eyes
hide behind a smile
the jokers grin
masking a deliberate betrayal

Misdirection and diversion
the covert sneak offender
working in the hush-hush
thinking the fooled
will never know any better

Trust the stiletto
when the lips are sealed
and silencing
is the fault of liars
when they are revealed

How the sleepless ballet
tip toes through the night
swirling in a caul
of suspected lies
but the eyes of deception
know full well the game of smiles
petulant tears
and angry retribution

Deceit engenders separation
the waltz of togetherness
never makes its connection
inside the embrace
something still remains hidden
and truth and deeds
form a treacherous liaison
and out of sight is out of mind

Who will ever know
who walks within the cloak-and-dagger
the perplexity of a tale-to-spin
and then fears the disclosures backhander
do you know
did you know
and panic will find a certain innocence
when lips become unsealed
communications with an uncertain reticence
but silence
is always the fault of liars
when they are revealed

Grandma What Is a Constellation

Grandma, what's a constellation of shapes?
It's the stars your looking at tonight.
See how they're shining bright,
Twinkling, and blinking across the black crape.
You'll need to read Greek and Roman mythology
They're full of legends who had escapades which
Were cloak and dagger kind of scrapes
That put Lupus the Wolf, Orion The Hunter, Draco
The dragon, the big and little dippers in to the
Skies. I hope this is feeding your appetite.
Grandma, what's a constellation of shapes?
It's the stars your looking at tonight.
Grandma, it's cold can I snuggle with you in your
Cape?
Of course you can Joshua. There's so much to
See. I have seen a green Comet and meteorites
That were burning through our atmosphere. Think
Of the story you could write.
If you use your imagination you could have
Quite an adventure among the stars to escape.
Grandma, what's a constellation of shapes?
It's the stars your looking at tonight.

Got a Secret, May I Share It

Secrets could be the reason for my insanity,
Such bloody burdens deserving of such profanity,
They may hurt me, anger me, or cause me turmoil,
But never mind how high the price, I will never unravel.
Under the rose they will remain for all eternity,
Behind closed doors forever in my safe keep,
Protected and guarded with a cloak and dagger,
Tame your inquiring mind for curiosity’s a killer.
No one likes intruders invading the mysteries in their heads,
If I uproot my precious roses, two may keep if one's dead,
Truth is everyone’s got a hush-hush kept inside their minds,
Whether it's to hide a little lamb or conceal some underhanded crime.
So don't ask me again 'cause now you know how I feel,
A secret’s best a secret if it’s never revealed.

Machiavellian Machinations

Treachery is the coin of the covert realm,
gears within gears turning ...
Devious machinations, pure Machiavellian

Secrecy is the Shanghai shuffle speech
Tool and Die maker,
what instrument of inflection deception
will you darkly wield?

Skilled in the art of misdirection,
fake exit wounds
make a theatrical lead entrance

A surreptitious maze
of feint thought progression
Allied motility based on mutual scoundrel affinity

Chicanery is the Au crown weight of a silver shekel tongue,
wheels within wheels spinning ...
Mirage machinations: Shimmering works so Machiavellian

Crafty consultation be the cabal mushroom reach
Fool and Cry maker,
what instrument of ruse tone
will be spuriously blown?

Trained in clandestine ways ... dubious methods
Sly serrated angles:
cloak-and-dagger means, perforated aspirations

A duplicitous labyrinth
of bifurcated deals,
from dastardly motives concealed

With the turning of the screws,
twisted obsidian truth is apnea beveled into
morally amorphous grooves

Machiavellian machinations
is warped, Mephistophelian lip lathe
of fabricated whispered news

In a Dark Room With Edgar Allen Poe

I am in a dark room
with Edgar Allen Poe,
there is a blank wall
turned into a movie screen,
showing his life story,
a struggle of his life without glory.

Living life as a writer with a lonely pen,
hiking up a strenuous and bumpy trail,
macabre poetry and short stories written,
fell upon few and most with blind eyes,
as a poet and author he insisted to be read,
unfortunately providing him meager bread.

Dark shadows followed him wherever he went,
his essence of a cloak and dagger existence,
opening up a genre of mysteries and whodunnits,
known as the first writer of detective stories,
life was unforgiving for this enigma of a man,
he died at the age of forty not being his plan.

MARVEL 1960s

As I journey into mystery
I come across the tower of shadows
Into the chamber of darkness
I'm found tales to astonish
Hulking and giant men
Sub marina
Involved in tales of supense
Iron men and american Captains
Oh! but strange tales
Doctors and one eye patch wearing --
    government men
Women named Millie and Chili
and both of them are modeling
Alien beings silver surfering in the skies
UFO's and nova alien beings from all over
Barbarian conan astonishing tales
Kazar Doctors of doom, ghost riders
Adventures amazing inhumans
Black widow, cloak and dagger
Rawhide kid Sgtof fury howling commandos
Leatherneck raiders and Captain Savage
dun know if ya old enough
or even if you know what I'm talkin bout
Mention titles above of marvel 1960's hero books
who say's this poem has to rryme of even be good
I said mention above titles of old marvel comic texts
And yea I'll even mention "NOT BRAnD ECHH"

Bourbon street and candy canes two unicorns in disguise,
Nickels for an easy dime,
And a quarter for a rhyme.

Shooting stars and colored moons aces to the heart,
A world through rose tinted glasses,
And dreams left standing gone from the masses.

Take the day out of night and the night out of day,
A different drummer a different song,
And the one-armed bandit takes what's wrong.

A cloak and dagger game of men and mice,
Every bait and switch of hand,
And the piper leads to the promised land.

Cloak and Dagger

Sadness has overcome me,
fear too.
For all that I know,
I can't tell you.

Secrets abound
and I'm underground.
Cloak and dagger,
faces and facades,
diamonds and pearls,
more than I wished for when I was a girl.

Freedom comes like a windy day
and I miss it when it blows away.
I snatch the light
as it passes by,
looking for happiness
in the gleam of an eye.

Guns

Guns speak the universal language of love
With no cloak and dagger residue left behind
But with bullets fired for better accuracy
Results usually have bad consequences
As if that mattered
Triggers are engaged to end life tragically
Drawn to their own conclusion
In grave compassion to the tomb
That aftermath presumed to be perfection
If only guns could think rationally
As one might assume
