Most hyenas are not predictable but Squirrely was the weirdest of all
So strange, he was thrown out of the pack when he was a cub
He’s just so unusually and blatantly odd, said his sister, Maul
Squirrely is beyond the realm of fantasy said his brother Chub
They did not like his smile and his laugh bordered on the insane.
He gallops around like a goat, a donkey, a llama and a horse
He had hair so messy, it was brushy too like a lion’s mane
His family did not like him, but his grandma took him in of course.
Squirrely had a marvelous life with his loving Gran.
Until she died and went to the promised land.

no cowboys in stock on this side,
but acrid fishermen provide
marine lifelines, hamlets sustain.
Spineless seas they ride, shark's terrain.
pre-dawn cowboys of Waves arise
early wranglers trawl for the prize
through murky waters or in plain.
Spineless seas they ride, shark's terrain.
catches of chub, snapper, and sword
concoct dinners we may afford.
praise the fishers, saddled with strain.
Spineless seas they ride, shark's terrain.
rank as sins, veiled in ocean scum
nets shoulder-slung, descendants come
off the tides, firm ground to regain
Spineless seas they ride, shark's terrain.

With the sun on my back and my stick float aglow
I watched as it trotted along in the flow
There’d been little rain so the current was slow
I was ready to strike because sometimes you know
You can’t know what tells you to hover your hand
Just over your reel but you still understand
That instinct is what kept the caveman alive
And instinct now tells you your float’s gonna dive
I could handle a nice tasty trout for my tea
For I doubted a salmon was what it would be
It could be a grayling, a dace or a chub
In which case I’d grab me a bite in the pub
My float disappeared as I’d known that it would
I lifted my rod and I set the hook good
The bend in my rod gave me reason to smile
The heaviest fish I had played in a while
The fish used the current to help save its skin
I showed it who’s boss and it slowly came in
Then, guessing I wouldn’t make news on the telly
I slipped my net under an old rubber welly

Chub wears a miniature Santa Suit
Within the circle, he is in cahoots
With several friends, they know what to do
They tell on each other and themselves too
He is standing on a snail. Isn’t that bad?
He is reaching too far, does that make you mad?
He is doing the wrong thing again, irritating me.
I finally have to turn away from Chubs, so I can be free.

See, Bathsheba looks hot in the tub,
gives King David a bit of a chub.
He exclaims, “Lordy, Moses!”
then, Uriah, disposes,
and gets burned when he burns for that shrub.

i scream
laughter ...
pain like endless dangerfield one-liners
rocks me breathless
tears - unchristened acid on my cheek
knock-knock-open-up
lips as sweet as scorpions
my, how sublime that juicy fruit they hide
a sexy serpent dancing
pierced and plump
'tween your butter-chub cheeks
wrapped ‘round me like love
violet eyes looking up
shining …
murder me, mercilessly
your taste of me
i die for.

The lone wolf;
The lean wolf
The big bad wolf am I.
I walk, I prowl,
I stalk, I howl
At the moon in a wind-whipped sky.
Slack of jaw
And sharp of claw
The wicked wolf am I.
I walk, I howl,
I stalk, I prowl
With hunger in my eye.
When the snow drifts
And the wind lifts
You can hear my chilling cry
As I howl and walk
And prowl and stalk
The rabbit running by.
You never see
The other me:
The soft and gentle side.
The she-wolf mother
Who has another
For whom she must provide.
My darling fair
Asleep in the lair
As innocent as a lamb
Must be kept alive
Or she won’t survive.
This too is who I am
This other wolf
This mother wolf
This wolf of the Tundra wild
Who walks the night
In the pale moonlight
Fearing for the life of her child.
The lone wolf
The lean wolf
Returning to my lair
To find my cub
My plump little chub
Softly sleeping there.
