subjective
strengthened
exhilarating
diverse
individuality
trace
freedom
with
zeal
closely
linked
inspiration
consequent
to
innovative
defined
&
synonymous
intuitive
fervent
openended
feeling
in
particular
concentrated
concepts
of
continuing
fascination
It is a perfect world
despite those who think not
unfortunately for you and I
it's the only one we've got
many on this planet
and therein lies the danger
are somewhat less than perfect
you won't meet a perfect stranger
and if a tree falls in a forest
(no one is around)
but you're caught napping
does it make a sound
of one hand clapping?
Two constants in your life
Mother Nature and Father Time
she'll nurture you awhile
he'll stop you in your prime
two certainties in life
one will inevitably pass away
until that comes to pass
taxes you must pay
I've been here for so long
trying to soften the dullest words
digging madly inside of me
in search of the prettiest nugget
but when I finally gave up
recognizing to be made of pure gravel
I heard the beautiful cracking sound
of certainties shattering
attesting that maybe
what i believed was horrible in me
could be the best thing I ever had
it would be nice if certainties came liquid
and don't wear a dirty robe
as the aggressive formation of the storms
or the negative balance of failed smiles.
we know what they created...
this altar of icy statues,
built with the defects called trust
and his emblematic surname pain.
the fingers that point are made of stone
and evoke hatred for our imperfection.
time absorbs all delusions,
but you don't find any of that on watches:
the filthy parade of minutes knows how to erase
the human and abstraction.
this happened with the links
that have become distance,
the passions that turned away,
the barbed wire of indifference
that surrounded the source of being and knowing.
still never talked about awards
when we came here to play.
is the dagger of certainties in our eyes
that makes the light dim nonstop.
Life Certainties

Pain can be measured,
grief is immeasurable,
and most will see both.
Sun on a chair, an open window, food put down,
small certainties that are the matter of their lives.
If they are capable of expectation it is this:
that everything will stay the same.
So we let in the morning sun
and put down food;
a window open all the time,
and everything remains the same.
We know that there will be a day
of illness, pain and fear
and fear of death
and death.
Within that larger certainty
we take some comfort
from their constant day to day,
sustain small certainties:
sun on a chair, an open window, food put down.
We live in their small certainties,
the larger one deferred.
