Premium MemberWhy Put Me Through This

One moment, my life in the balance
     The next, feeling quite well
Why, O Why, put me, Dear God
      through this kind of hell…

Yet I guess you’ve been with me
     right from the start
Not one hour have you missed
~ since that of my bris*

Premium MemberOdd and Odder

The fact that Jesus was a Jew
may seem odd to quite a few

Then eight days after Christmas, how about this
~ January first, New Year's Day, was his bris *

_______________________________
*'bris mila,' which literally means 'cov-
enant of the foreskin,' is the Hebrew
term for a Jewish ritual circumcision.
It is performed on the eighth day of a
baby boy's life. Jesus' bris, therefore,
was on the 1st of January.

When Bombs Fell

A bombing of my school

It was a winter night 1942 the British
Bombed the school I was going to when older.
the town was in darkness why the Bris bombed the school
was because they had been misinformed thinking
it was the German military headquarter.
Many surrounding houses burnt down and there was some causality.
Other than sporadic bombing our town was
a paradise for the enemy soldiers stationed there.
Time is harder now we see Israeli bomb schools and children’s playground in Gaza.
I write this because I got an email from boys I had (they are old now)
gone to school with and it brought back memories
    of a time gone by.

Goy To the World....

Goy to the world,
Christian faith is everlasting....
It is the night,
that your bris is performed

the thrilling kiss of a Rabbi's knife,
Starts its job, till faint did your wife
Fall on your knees...
Start your CPR.....
and ask the Rabbi please....
and hear the sirens wailing
ambulance rushes to you....
not a time of peaceful sailing.....

A Tip On Circumcision For a Movie–ing Experience

Torah! Torah! Torah!
Check it out
Ten Commandments of
six hundred (more or less)
for the good deed that goes unpunished
and only the good die Jung? I guess,
it’s a hit
or mitz -vah
whether moyel shall take a bit, more or less;

well, he should have it well in hand
if you think neutral thoughts
during the bloody process
(which may be hard to do–
ahh, there’s the rub
in this Shake-a-spear
tragedy of Love’s laborer, Lost
on this Twelfth Night of your thirteenth year,
you grinning ear to ear,
you contemplate Romeo’s
“It’s soft, what knife through yonder
foreskin breaks. . .” or some such soliloquy
in this tiny Hamlet by some shore.

Lo! The deed is done
(and not much fun)
manhood swaying with a gentle bris
and all the helpful hints
Gone With the Wind amidst
your screams: It Hertz
and Dr. Edward Scissorhands, responded,
“Frankly, Scar-less, I don’t give a damn.”
