Hanging a Picture

“Let’s hang this heavy picture,”
I heard my wife say to me.
Giving her a claw hammer
I put a steel nail up high.
“When I nod my head, hit it.”
…That’s the last thing I recall.

Premium MemberBirds of Feathers

What the birds know today is that I am not there
Funny as it may seem, those birds and I have something in common
We are always looking for something,
What puzzles me the most is when I put out food
They appear from nowhere, chirping and calling for others
To come to share the food.
They are fascinating creatures,
I think I have hyped them too much by feeding them a lot of sugar:
However, I loved how they picked the leftovers.
And in a nanosecond, the food was gone.
I am back in the cold once again,
I truly missed those birds outside my door,
They do not need to migrate south.
And most of all they don’t have to select
Or regret voting for a president
In their defense, each of them appears to be a leader.
Who leads Birds of a Feather?

through the ages

Through the Ages

I'm back in the streets of my childhood
no, there is no fanfare I have lived long
in a place with warmer hearts
Here, where I was born, I feel foreign
so much so I'm not sure if I remember
another child's life
1948, when bleakness was white
I nevertheless saw a green soot between
the house in a crack, it had been rain
but I could smell spring
At that time, a man of twenty-eight was
regarded as too old to get married
Those who made it to sixty-five were
interviewed by the local paper and asked
how come he reached this age
We played with an empty bottle of booze
wondered if it had a secret hidden from
us, because the adults behaved funny
after drinking its liquid, sometimes men
fought, and women screamed.
The house where five families lived
in poverty, has been modernized and
is now an office building, do the new
occupiers sense the smell of poverty
emitting from walls
I cut the shackles and fled, but my
memories often drive me back
like it or not, most of my generation has
died out, they were too modest to
appear in history books

Premium MemberInstructions on how to love me

Love me like you only have 3 hours to live and I'm 5 hours away
Let your heart listen to my dreams, so you can hear me serenade you to our future
Love me like yes, you can have the last cookie, and I'll give you my whole heart not just a piece
Because heaven shared you, so earth is my slice
Let your words affirm me when my wavering thoughts get stuck in the tides at sea
Love me like time can't be taken for granted and watch how much more you can see
Let your hidden words shower me and I'll wash the places you can't reach
Love me like the reaper on a Harley because I need a ride or die
Let’s go beyond their comprehension
p.s. adventure is at the corner where love awaits...

Wings of charm

I spied a beutiful swan
Graciously tantalizing
A cure to mine senses
Returng to me Lewis
That warming feeling
Of being in love again
Not once do I doubt
That ultimately Swan
You will rest in my bed
The one thats so cozy

Twin

Twins

40 years ago I let go of the twin that lived inside of me
My twin was a nice person and feared upsetting anyone
hence he had no opinion relying on me being called
unpleasant names.
He was also a heavy drinker and had no respect for women's feelings thinking it was funny when they threw things at me, Yes, it was me who had to take the blame
for his foolish behavior.
I fled in a night of rain, at a time when he would sit in a bar entertaining people (with my money) yes, he was
well-liked and droll, with a deep well of funny jokes
how could I ever compete.
I chose to settle in Portugal, via England, to confuse my twin who was a Costa Do Sol type of guy, the Portuguese are not as jubilant as the Spaniards which reflects in their Fado.
The problem is, they found a man they recon has been in the town's lake since the eighties, people said he had a cafe, this is worrying, I had a lunch cafe in that town
Am I me, or am I my twin?

Bad Timing

Bad timing

When the day has been hot and long, when a letter tells me I have to put the car in for its yearly inspection and to check the oil and tires and you know you shall never make love to a woman again.

When you hear about politicians who struggle to preserve their legacy, don't they know they will be remembered for the corruption they were famous for, and even more, their shenanigans will be forgotten also?

When you go down to the garage to read the car tax disk
and you wonder what you are doing there, to walk all way up and remember, and too pissed off with yourself to find this slightly funny.

It is then you look forward to your secret vice playing
solitaire, eat half a bar of chocolate drink two glasses of red wine; and say, I have free will, I can eat the other half of the chocolate bar if I want to

The answer, my friend, is blowing. in the wind.

What We Used To Be

I wish we can be what we used to be,
two beautiful love birds,
we use to fly so high above the sky till we could reach the core of heavens.
our wings used to be a shelter of our own created Love.

I wish we could be what we used to be,
two hearts that beats as one.
Waking up missing each other.
Been together and holding each other.

I wish we could be what we used to be,
because I missed our laughter in the dark of the night,
I missed your smile because when you smiled I knew everything was Alright.
I missed holding you close tight..
I missed our useless fights, that gave us almost sleepless nights.
With you I had hope that this future was bright.

I wish we could be what we used to be.

Dysfunctional Family

Life isnt fair
And it starts at home
When you're the responsible one
Even if you weren't there
You get exploited and used
Yet still it's not enough
Whatever the issue
It was because of you
If only you would get your act together
That would solve all of our problems
You were a mistake
I wish you weren't born instead
Funny how the world praises me
When at home it's all scorn and spite
No wonder I don't recognize love
When all I've learnt to accept is hate

Bicycle Poem - 2

A wobble waiting in the shed
A joke cracked by Victorian comedians
A test of youthful instability
A trial by tarmac

An unyielding seat with changing views
A wetter way of travelling through rain
A soundless nemesis for pensioners
A tin-tack gathering machine

A complexity in ambulation
A tool used by the mad or desperate
A ticking mockery of balance
A frame for shaming the unfit

A creaking snail on hills
A public declaration of pretence or poverty
An undignified arrival and
A bait for thieves

Nawty There

Nawty There
How can I address you properly?
You can't take off my dress
You nawty child
You've gotten her pregnant!
Get out of this house now
He was pulling one off
And pulled a muscle
It was a power shaft
She always upsets him
Only coz she loves him
The concept of time
Meant nothing when fecking
They worked as pilots
For the Arkansass National Guard

They Call Me Baby Here

I am just new here
Everything looks strange
Even the language unfamiliar
I can't even keep my steps

I have been in dark world
It had been years I guess
Not sure arithmetic not yet gained
All I know it had been long

I don't really understand
I received a heavy pat on my back
At my very arrival I don't know what for
I guess an welcoming gesture

When i was crying
Everybody was laughing
I can't comprehend though
What was funny about my pain?

She put me in her arms
It was so warm
She gave me food
It was so delicious

Others are coming to see me
With excitement on their faces
They seems to be showering gifts
I don't know what is big deal about me

I don't like some gazes though
I am so afraid of them
In their arms not feeling safe
Am I just being naive?

But her she is the only person
I can truly trust
She gives me food she keeps me warm
It is rare to cry in her arms

Hiding In the Night

Forever I shall remain in the dark
I don't want to be discovered
I don't want you to know
I don't want to reveal the scary part

I won't risk confessing my love to you
I am very sure you can't let me in
I won't even bother you -just starring in
Appreciating the funny part I cannot behold

So, I will say in contradiction
That I cannot fall for you
I had only fallen for your manners though
I am just no body and you can't let me in

I don't really care whether you know
I am just a distance fan of yours
I am madly in love with your manners
Though always afraid to break my joys
