This poem is based upon 'Landscape with the Fall of Icarus' by Pieter Bruegel
Also inspired by Musée des Beaux Arts by W. H. Auden~
No farmer or merchant felt the sound
That Icarus made when he had drowned
Icarus splashed and kicked and flailed!
Dying, crying to those who sailed
“Help me, help me! Direct your course!”
But those merchants felt no remorse
Icarus gave a final wish
To a man attempting to bait fish
Dozy, the fisher went to sleep
Then Icarus died, and none would weep
And a farmer who had heard his needs
Pretended he didn’t to plant his seeds
Since that painting it’s been years so long
Yet I find Bruegel was never wrong
No one ever feels the pain
Another Icarus has attained
So where is Icarus now?
We are an Icarus when out with blues
We read of Icarus in sickening news
We see an Icarus in city streets
Begging, craving for food to eat
And though the media bickers this,
The world just won’t stop for Icarus

It took me long to get here
now my mind wonders as if
it never remembered how hard it has been.
Hearts forgive and are quick to give in,
while the mind memorises all moments lived.
You weren't mine to begin with
yet chances took a chance on I,
to allow me to be,
there with you, through and through
until the time told me to leave.
Now the self bickers of what I'm left to be ~
should hearts be ceased from feelings
or should minds always win?

Joyous heart tenses, flame flickers
Light of awareness dulls
Soul is still but ego bickers
Poignant lulls, joy throb culls
Void dweller, detached stance
To flow of life does dance
In divine entwined trance
Enslaved by senses
Joyous heart tenses

PIN THE TAIL
O’Haggard Hoarfrost, she plays winks,
rocks on a sawhorse, tweedle-dee drinks.
Mad Merrie O’Boyle slays lightning from nails —
dazed loony-toon, wears out his flannel tails.
W’cked, their niece, says, “Take them away,” bickers,
with Midnight Judge in his moonwashed-knickers.
Their nephew, hees and haws, a blinking donkey-in-law.
O’Haggard and Merrie pinned his tail on his sacred flaws.
Force-swept, Hoarfrost and O’Boyle, under-dressed,
spoiled with lots of off-the-rocker friends to impress.
W’cked and her donkey are still looking for his appendage.
Facial features are pinned-up on the craziest stages.

hear the happy skittle
knows he isn't brittle
laughs at flying spittal
from the vicars
see the sullen dancer
living fearing cancer
seldom wants an answer
always bickers
smell the Christmas fairy
legs and arms so hairy
makes me rather wary
nostril pickers
man who's always smiling
messing up the tiling
says he's done the filing
wearing knickers
thinks he's Jack the Ripper
breaks another zipper
eats a mouldy kipper
pounding tickers

Faith fortitudes beyond fail
Optimistic springs so tell
Rejoicing love taking sail
Best friends secrete wails
Evoking past pain not for sale
Talk freely love of sunny days
Talk freely love of moon’s rays
Envoy whispers of strange fruit
Reject midnight’s traipsing truth
Open hearts do explore openly
Resonating bickers so remotely
Wedding bliss of kisses defy rarity
Ornery spirit evading love’s clarity
Resisting obliques of enshrined lust
Satisfied vows of forevermore trust
Enjoy life of silver love remiss of rust.

Lion sits at his table with appetite
to enjoy fruits of his daily labor
Those with him during every feast
are invisible skulls of past meals
Friends and foes sing and dance
jumping all over the table at meal
lion harshly bickers, denies rights
some he praises and honors bitterly
Bed time lion scatters his eyes all over
traumatized by vision of crying skulls
yet his appetite grows day and night
to capture friend and foe for meals
Legion of weeping and dancing skulls
frequently disrupt joys of stolen meal

My son has broken mouth- confused creature carrying questions on his palm
Wherever he goes, he drops them on anybody’s face
He asked me; Dad, why is my mother called your wife?
It is because she is my WI-FI. She bickers, shouts and entertains me non-stop
Again he asked me Dad; why is my mother called your helpmate?
It is because she in my hell-mate- generous with her hot tongue
As we traveled he asked; why is Member of Parliament called Honorable?
It is because they are hollow-balls- full of space with hot air
In the evening at home he again asked; Da why does a dog bark?
It is because it bites and bites and bites even shadows of things.
In Super Market he inquired, Dad, why can’t a doll talk?
It is because it used to talk too much. The mouth was block by an angry God

Love-plants took time to grow
Every seed was sown in a sweet shadow
To you goes the whole credit
Tenderly and intensely you did it
In tense moments of charged soul
Nucleus was in a fusion goal
Green words then one day stopped coming for the rhyme
Gems of freedom no more in flames sublime
Oomph in designs of sad decline
Now you say you will change your room
O’er my book the candle flickers
Groves have been gathering grave gloom
Let it go, no point in bickers
My time will move slow
The wound will take time to heal
Stay well, let it go

Is she the one?
The one I call hun,
with those beautiful endless eyes,
attached to my arm like a prize.
We met and got a couple beers,
now look at us, its been 5 years.
A love is what we share,
although it's sometimes hard to bear.
I am a genuinely good guy,
but sometimes I make her cry.
I bring her roses, candy, and sometimes a stuffed toy,
So we all know, they are tears of joy.
Like everyone else I argue and she bickers,
but our candle of love never flickers.
We kiss and laugh because it's always trivial,
and the atmosphere is once again convivial.
We go together like peanut butter and jelly,
and she doesn't even mind my little belly.
Everyone says she's a steal,
but I don't know how I feel.
It's time for me to take a stand,
and look her in they eyes and ask for her hand.
I cannot see anything else better in my life,
So I will ask her to be my wife.

To walk on this earth
Without you to hold my hand
It's something I question often
It's something I don't understand
To be without your laugh
That cheered me up when mad
It's something I can't get back
The reality of it makes me sad
The Bickers you and I shared
Older people would laugh and stare
At two men fighting and arguing
They'd say "That's two brothers right there"
Having each others backs
On nights we turned to the drink
If someone ever wanted to fight us
Their friends would tell them THINK!!!
Protecting and watching each other
These things come along with brothers
Standing your ground at all cost
It makes me realize what I really lost
Walking alone in the dark
Without a hand to guide you way
Being lost without your brother
A best friend taken away .

Peering from my window
Through a thin veil of frost,
It seems that an unseen force
Had resolved to obscure my vision,
As if it were saying,
“There’s nothing out there but darkness
And frightful frigid discomfort
That is best left to creatures
Who are suited for such environs.”
Hastily I wipe the frosted pane
For a glimpse of something rare,
When the Earth
Seemingly bickers with the Sun,
Demanding a moment more of its
Radiant solar comfort
Only to be abruptly silenced by:
Old Man winter,
Who masterfully placates this
Sibling wrangle and
With authority unquestioned;
Darkness falls
With Winter’s command.
