Jerusalem's Yad Vashem
Sacred place for the victims

Note: The International Holocaust Memorial Day on January 27 marks the anniversary of the
liberation of the concentration camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp on
January 27, 1945. The camp was liberated by Soviet troops and over 7,000 remaining
prisoners, mainly ill or near to death, were freed. It is estimated that at least 1.3
million people were deported to Auschwitz between 1940 and 1945. About 1.1 million were
murdered. Auschwitz-Birkenau is situated in Poland and was inscribed on the World Heritage
List in 1979.

Premium Member He Did What He Could

Over a thousand souls
Sheltered from the hell
By a German industrialist
Whom he saved, would tell

From forced labour camps bought
Under the Third Reich's nose
To work in his factories
As their war effort grows

Diamonds and cash
Bribed Amon Goeth
A barbaric camp leader
Who spoke with deaths froth

The saved ones worked
Manufacturing grenades and shells
Not one could be fired
As history did tell

It's now the end of the war
With over a thousand saved
From their persecuted era
Where they were imprisoned, enslaved

Amon Goeth was hanged
Aged 37
The souls of the lost
Look down now from Heaven

This saviour of Jews
Died aged 66
He wanted to save more
Through his financial tricks

At Israels Yad Vashem
Righteous Among the Nations
Where they place rocks still
Oskar Schindler rests, in Jewish Heaven

My tribute to an amazing man, whose determination
to save as many Jews as he possibly could, and he did.

The Dyslexic Teop

I rebmemer when I was a cute, little dik

As I nageb to worg into a fine, erutam nam

Didn’t want to daer Ayn Rand’s - The deahFountain
I was totally derutparne by Keats and yellehS.

And when it emac to a laugh-aloud eritas -
my admired rotnem was Sir Odgen hsaN.
For erom deeper prose I’d inhale the segap

Edward eeblA is my etirovaf playwright -
I am in total ewa fo his powerful sdrow
and I truly leef his most gninnuts masterpiece
is “Who’s Afraid fo Virginia flooW?"

I have gib dreams fo being famous eno yad -
like a Eugene Neill’O or na Arthur relliM.

Fall In Love

K dil ki gahrae se nikal k har dum ek khyal aata h
Band hoti h aankhe to srf usi ka chehra najar aata h
Janta hu k kismat mujhe use pane ka hak nh degi
Pr bina kurbani diye bhe to pyar me mja kha aata h
K dil ki gahrae se nikal k har dum ek khyal aata h

Poonam ka chand aasma me jab kbhi dikhae deta h
Lgta h jise kahi dur koi naraj hum se baitha h
Dil k samundar me jab dubne lgti h yado ki kasti
To ek yad uski jise jeena, kahi dur koi kinara dikhae deta h
K dil ki gahrae se nikal k har dum ek khyal aata h

Here Is Happiness For Me

With her pet toy in hand and playing,
In mother’s lap, a strange smile lurking,
To her lullaby whilst listening,
Eyes on Ma, at last succumbs to sleep,
Here’s happiness for me sound asleep.

Their heavy school bags left way aside,
Uniforms too thrown on whatso side,
Back from bunking class, leave un-applied,
Bare bodied when children dance in rain,
Here’s happiness for me sans restrain.

Dreams and young desires dancing in mind,
Two teenagers in tender love blind,
At the appointed place do when find
And haply together smile their smiles,
Here’s happiness to me that beguiles.

Dawns a day, and Ma wakes up early,
Finds the house bare and rather lonely,
And lo, the door-bell rings suddenly,
Her daughter and kids hug her in glee,
Here is crest of happiness to me.

One eve, the sun prepares when to pack,
I see grandpa— nigh bent at the back,
Nostalgic, playing old songs from rack
When breaks into dance that transcends age,
That’s happiness to me freed from cage.

Based on a Gujarati poem by Shyamal Munshi, titled:
mane to sukh eman dekhaya, transliteration as follows:

ek ramakdun lai mana-gamatun,
mana khole hasatun ramatun,
mithan halardan sambhaltun,
mani same jotun balak unghi jaye,
mane to sukh eman dekhaye.

bhar bharelan daftar khakhi,
ek divas khunaman nakhi,
ninshal man pan chutti rakhi,
bhai-bandho sau thai ughada bhar varshaman nhaye,
mane to sukh eman dekhaye.

premi ne jotan ni sathe acherun malakaye,
mane to sukh eman dekhaye.

ek divas ma vaheli jage,

After Visitng Yad Vashem

One of the most evil
periods
         in human history
is vividly portrayed here
The proud hopes of the Renaissance
   and the Enlightenment
gone up in smoke
    like the murdered millions
    Photos of cruelty and pain
    cause me to reflect
on
the
nature of man
ponder what will
   become of the
travelers on our hollow globe
   Words fail to tell us
   of the magnitude
of these murders
   The horror and pain
have faded with the years
     Light falling on the
snow in Jerusalem
   creates patterns
in which those with deep souls
   can forsee a better future
As the days and nights
    continue to pass by
Perhaps one day we will all understand
   We must try or perish
Evil must be remembered

Yad Vashem

Shoes
Thousands of them
Old and shriveled up like prunes
Worn leather with no luster

Shoes
Walked in by men
Men of the past who died in a scream
One loud scream
One deafening sound
An echo felt from inside my soul

Chains and memoirs
Boxcars and stolen treasures
Today I leave this museum believing I am a Jew.

But I

his mind was programmed to notice the slightest change
he stayed alert, and would often sit in the dark corner
of a dark room, monitoring the shadow of the moon.
I thought he was crazy, my instincts weren't as keen as his,
he and I together made comedy, I didn't find it smart
to pair us together at first, those brilliant minds
that make all that money, seemed to
have made a mistake using comparative togetherness, uniting us.
It is as wise for man to monitor and control that which he spends
his time doing: and as wise to monitor and control those he spends
his time with doing such chores. This makes sense when you might
 have to
take heat for something going wrong: get it right and they'll love you
but, once the milk is soured only the cheesemaker knows what kinda
cheese he's making. The writer Graspie Teaser said it best in the
Book Daffa and the Thing "when change occurs, only the outcome
 of change means anything!"

"might the minds that bought us together
spend time to find a way to seperate us
that these endings might have happiness
in our parting!"

"We should never have anything to work out
because we have reasons
to be be apart."
