He is my almighty, my always, my armor
He is my blessing, my breath, my boldness
He is my comfort, my carpenter, my compassion
He is my divinity, my devotion, my delight
He is my earth, my eternity, my enlightenment
He is my faith, my fulfillment, my future
He is my God, my gift, my grace
He is my hope, my heart, my heaven
He is my insight, my inspiration, my inner guide
He is my joy, my judgement, my Jesus
He is my king, my kindness, my keeper
He is my light, my love, my laughter
He is my maker, my music, my morning
He is my necessity, my nurturer, my night
He is my openness, my oil, my offering
He is my purity, my praise, my peace
He is my quest, my quiet, my quivering
He is my rock, my redeemer, my rest
He is my shepherd, my sight, my sensitivity
He is my truth, my treasure, my theology
He is my understanding, my unity, my usefulness
He is my value, my vastness, my virtue
He is my worth, my warmth, my wisdom
He is my xenia, my xenas, my xenodochy
He is my yearning, my yore, my yesterday
He is my zeal, my zenith, my zest

He is my Jesus, He is my God, He is my Holy Spirit
He is the One I love… He is my everything
Yesterday, tomorrow and today – always
He holds the key to death and the grave
As well as my eternity – Praise His holy name!

Matthew 16:13-19
King James Version
13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

What's In Your Will?

Not everyone has houses or lands, gold or silver, stocks or bonds, IRA’S or CD’S, Cars or cash, insurance policies, etc. But that does not mean we have nothing to leave behind when we depart this earth. The best things in life are still free, and there can be great qualities in our lives that are well worth the leaving. So why not make a ‘None-Material Possession Will’, and describe from A to Z what you wish to leave behind. i.e.

A ATTITUDES THAT ARE GOOD WILL OPEN DOORS
B BOLDNESS IS STRONGER THAN COWARDICE
C COURTEOUSNESS IS NOT A WEAKNESS
D DECISIVENESS IS A FOOT- FORWARD ACTION
E ENERGY IS THE SPARK THAT IGNITES THE MIND

F FAITHFULNESS BUILDS CONFIDENCE
G GOODNESS HAS NO SUBSTITUTE
H HONESTY CREATES BELIEVERS IN YOU
I INTELLIGENCE IS NOT LIMITED TO NUMBERS
J JOY IS FAR SUPERIOR TO HAPPINESS

K KINDNESS IS ITS OWN REWARD
L LOVE GIVES MORE THAN IT RECEIVES
M MERRINESS NEED NOT WAIT FOR CHRISTMAS
N NICENESS IS BLIND TO THE OBJECT OF ITS AFFECTION
O OBEDIENCE CAN COMMAND WHAT IT HAS SUBMITTED TO

P PLEASANTNESS IS AN INWARD CONDITION OF THE HEART
Q QUIETNESS CREATES OPPORTUNITIES FOR HEALING
R READINESS IS THE DOOR THAT OPENS OPPORTUNITY
S STABILITY CALMS AND HOLDS EVERYTHING TOGETHER
T TIMELINESS PREFERS TO STEP IN AFTER READINESS

U UNSELFISHNESS WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU ALONE
V VIBRANCY HAS ROOTS FUELED BY MOTIVATION
W WILLINGNESS UNCLOGS THE PIPES OF STUBORNESS
X XENIA (Ze-ni-e [Greek = Hospitality] )
Y YOUTHFULNESS IS A ONCE IN A LIFE-TIME DEAL
Z ZEAL GREATLY AIDS IN THE PATH TO VICTORY

Beautiful Bounteous Blessings

"Today don't beg, don't ask, just thank God in silence for all the blessings in your life. Each morning brings a hidden blessing; a blessing which is unique to that day. You deserve all the good things that happen to you."

~ Paulo Coelho

Auspicious azure atoll with augmented aurora
Bounteous bells bringing in buoyant breeze
Chiming cornucopia of coloured circles
Drawing drapes of dulcet dreams in delight
Emanating effervescence of enchanting echoes
Frivolously flying fervent fruits of father's faith
Gratitude garnered graciously in gaiety golden gospels
Humming harmonious hopes of humane harbinger
Iridescent immaculate ink of inbound ideologies
Jubilant jar of judicious joy in juggles
Kernels of kindness kindred in kaleidoscope
Luminescent leaves with lustre of love language
Mother's memoirs of mesmerizing morning mellow
Nurturing nascent nights with neon nuzzles
Opulent overwhelming opportunities of optimism
Pinnacles of permeating pleasure peeking in panacea
Quintessential quilt of quietude quenching quests
Radiant realms of rapport reviving a rhapsody
Soft silver slumber sparkling in sanguine serendipity
Translucent threads of tenacious tangible treasures
Unearthed utopia upholding ushered upbeats of urges
Veracious variance vibrating valiantly in vicinity
Wonderful white wisps of warm whispering waves
Xenon xing from xenial xylophones of xander xenia
Yellow yarns of yonder yesterdays yielding youthfulness
Zooming with zillion zestful zigzags to zealous zenith

Goethe and Schiller translations

These are modern English translations of the "Xenia" epigrams written in collaboration by the German poets Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Friedrich Schiller, plus an elegy Goethe wrote for Schiller...

These are selected XENIA epigrams with all translations by Michael R. Burch...

#2 - Verse versus Kiss

She says an epigram’s too terse
to reveal her tender heart in verse ...
but really, darling, ain’t the thrill
of a kiss much shorter still?

#5 - Criticism

Why don’t I openly criticize the man? Because he’s a friend;
thus I reproach him in silence, as I do my own heart.

#11 - Highest Holiness

What is holiest? This heart-felt love
binding spirits together, now and forever.

#12 - Love versus Desire

You love what you have, and desire what you lack
because a rich nature expands, while a poor one retracts.

#19 - Nymph and Satyr

As shy as the trembling doe your horn frightens from the woods,
she flees the huntsman, fainting, uncertain of love.

#20 - Desire

What stirs the virgin’s heaving breasts to sighs?
What causes your bold gaze to brim with tears?

#23 - The Apex I

Everywhere women yield to men, but only at the apex
do the manliest men surrender to femininity.

#24 - The Apex II

What do we mean by the highest? The crystalline clarity of triumph
as it shines from the brow of a woman, from the brow of a goddess.

#25 -Human Life

Young sailors brave the sea beneath ten thousand sails
while old men drift ashore on any bark that avails.

#35 - Dead Ahead

What’s the hardest thing of all to do?
To see clearly with your own eyes what’s ahead of you.

#36 - Unexpected Consequence

Friends, before you utter the deepest, starkest truth, please pause,
because straight away people will blame you for its cause.

#41 - Earth versus Heaven

By doing good, you nurture humanity;
but by creating beauty, you scatter the seeds of divinity.

Chaos

Chaos:

One year in 1975 on 1136 cooper street, with its autumn breeze with greenish brown leaves blowing off the trees like feathers off a table and making crackling noises, plus the young children running up and down the poorly paved sidewalks that were narrow at best; lies the big white two level house where I lived. With me was my grandmother, my aunt and uncle, who aided in my care. On occasion, my aunt and uncle were like Hercules and Xenia warrior princess; two powerful forces that made our heartbeats jump. Kicking and scratching, clawing and cursing as my poor, distressed grandmother often intervened like a referee in a boxing match. My uncle’s Hercules and My aunt’s Xenia when tensions were tight and scary. The drinking glasses they threw at each other were the swords and their hands, shields of war and emotional destruction lay in their wake. I swear their senseless brawls were like the war in Vietnam in our home and it had to end. As kids in our home we were scared silly, more kicking, more cursing and more and more violence occurred as my grandmother shielded us from the shrapnel that was my aunt and uncle’s foolishness. They used books, sticks and maybe a knife showed up in the battle. We all knew that a butter knife had never killed a soul in fights. Would the crap finally end? Yes! The last fight was on a month I can’t remember, but that was the night Hercules injured Xenia’s eye. My grandmother had had enough, so she not only drove her to the ER, but proceeded to weaken Hercules with the sheer power of her blood curling, screaming voice. The war was over, and it was like the trees in the field had blackened from the violence after a firefight and no winner, no victor. Nothing was left to fight about, but rather smoke rising and a blue-black mist to clear, for the final scar of the teenage war are the glasses she wears.

Wrapping Up

something tells me
I have to leave this place
unremembered

the wind smells foul
the grass has changed color
the shrine is now a Clubhouse
and the Diviner has lost his memory
where do you find blessing
when everything stands still

where do you find blessing
when the trees are dead
and beneath them are
decaying bones
of passersby

whom do you call
when the gas stove in the Tower is leaking
and the Door of the Refrigerator
stained with rust
to whom do you turn
when the air you breathe
belongs to Someone

what do you do
when it is raining
and the roof has curved in on you
what will you say
when the brick Wall has lost its battle
with the Rain

where do you go
when the stairwell to the King’s chamber
slops to a dagger-point
and tongues groan and sing
in glutton voices

with whom will you stand
when the mugs on the table are ugly
and maggots dance round it
in steps
to dark unfathomed caves

where do you find blessing
when there is laughter inside the kitchen
yet you hear no footsteps

something tells me
I have to leave this place
unremembered
and tell it all to my pillow
my only friend

Premium Member Prayer Warrior Blessings

A blessing is something we can't do for ourselves. Only God can bless. When we send blessings to those around us through prayer, we invite them to receive the special and unique touch of God in their lives. There is no greater example of faith, and love, than to share blessings through prayer with a servant's heart stepping outside of ourselves to ask God's blessing for another pilgrim. It is an honor to be a prayer warrior, an ambassador, sending out prayers for blessings!

Prayer Warrior Blessings

At the corner of graces and gifts busy avenue
Baskets, filled with benedictions of my blessings,
Cascade – overflow – in blessing cups
Dedicated to walking in other soul worn shoes – determined –
Entering this sanctuary of the Spirit’s energy,
Feasting on the honor - on the fragrance of the favor
Given to my tongue to say grace,
Hymns of praise, heaven sent from Heaven’s house,
Interceding – stepping out from shoes of isolation -
Just to carry another’s burden with justness –
Knees upon the rug of prayer kneeling
Letting neither sunburned lips,
Mourning storms malediction,
Nor raging disasters negate
Offerings and prayers opened –
Psalms like bouquets – grace perfume –
Quivering quietly with hope’s quality
Reaching up on wings of eagles and simple robins,
Standing in the gap for broken sighs;
Thankful for the honor and the trust
Unlimited blessings to uncover –
Verily – truly - tending comfort in prayer verses;
Warrior – blessed to share the burden of secrets wounded
Xen – no stranger to pray for the lost – xenia
Yearning to share in the full palate of joys – yes!
Zeal in zephyrs -glittering zirconias!
