In the name of blood, for it is the source of life itself,
Plasma's crimson essence of liquid infusion, to the undead's
Pulsating heart.
Intravenously feeding cravings passion, through the carotid
Artery at the throat of humanity, thou'st not love, suffer
The pleasure indulge the pain, the out come shall be the same,
To be embraced by the black ebony arch angel of death,
Release thy darker side, let the instinctual behavior of the beast,
Know freedoms unshackling at last.
Become one of his sacred disciples, a creature of his dark dimension,
A kindred being, unto the legion of the night.
In the moon's elliptical light, shadows thus move from
Left to right, shifting as transparent figures, phantoms of
Illusions, taking winged flight, soaring on the currents
Of air mingling with their ancestral brethren, the vampire bat.
Run does not the lone wolf, along the side path next to man,
As we do so walk amongst them, yet never attempting to belong.
Oh are we not the a shunned, the accursed, by a God known
For his forgiveness, to love all living things under
Heaven, but for us this mightiest of lords, turns
His gaze away, not acknowledging our existence.
Our we not his lost sheep, missing from his flock, why
Does not this Sheppard seek this black lamb’s wool,
Is it too coarse for weaving's wheel, as it spins thus
And is it not said that he created all life within his image.
Nay I pray this vamperic prayer, why has he abandon
Us, the darker of his creations.
Behold the unascended, begging to enter beyond the gates
Of light, children of the lost are we, seeking a father blind
To his responsibility.
Harvesting, by the basic instincts given unto us,
Taking only what we need to survive, for this he has turned
Against us, and thus taking the light of day with him.
So my father of damnation's hell, has offered salvation's
Darker domain as a sheltering harbor of comfort, I will not
Abstain his patronage.
For I am the ashunned, living by the moonlight's haunting glow,
Yet yearning to see one last horizons sunset, but the Holy Father,
Hears not my humble vamperic prayer.

Nat the Vampire Bat

written for my dear daughter, Natalie

Nat, the vampire bat,
Was as cute as a bat could be-
She loved to go to school,
But hated her class on hematology.

"I think I'm in the wrong body,"
She often would exclaim-
"I cannot stand the sight of blood,
It makes me go insane."

"My legs get wobbly,
My wings shiver,
My sonar sensors stop working,
And my lips begin to quiver!"

Nat went home to mom and dad,
And asked, "What shall I do?"
They looked at each other and said,
"You'll have to stay home from school."

Nat was quite unhappy,
She would miss all of her friends,
She had to think of something else,
"My life's just going to end!"

She went into her cave room,
All she could do was pout-
Have to call my friends, she thought,
And pulled her cell phone out.

"I need help," she announced,
"Anyone got an idea in mind?"
She texted, tweeted, pleading her case,
A solution she was desperate to find!

Many answers came her way,
She filtered them one by one,
The best were from Professor Owl,
And Sly - principal Fox's son.

First option was just to adapt,
Stay home - take things in stride-
She pondered over this for awhile,
And finally sat down and cried!

Option two was more palatable,
Sly's idea was much, much better.
Nat thought she could digest this one,
But her parents had to write a letter!

The letter she carried to school that morn,
A happy bat was she-
Instead of studying blood, it read-
Let her take carpology!

The teachers were all amazed-
About what a choice had brought-
The little bat's grade soared to an "A,"
Her spirit no longer distraught!

Nat, the vampire bat,
Started a new tradition at school-
Classes were allowed to be changed,
It was no longer against the rules!

The school made headline news,
Performance index scores climbed high-
Policy changes must sometimes be made,
To keep things from going awry!

Vampire Bats/ Vampierfledermäuse/ Vampiro Murciélagos

Nightmare from the jungle
Vampire Bats attack cattle and people
Transmitting deadly rabies

When they carry the deadly virus
Some indigenous children have died

-------------------------------------------------

Albtraum aus dem Dschungel
Vampierfledermäuse im nächtlichen Angriff
Überträger der Tollwut

Wenn sie das tödliche Virus tragen
Indiokinder mussten sterben

-------------------------------------------------

Pesadilla de selva
Vampiros atacan al ganado y gente
Transmisión de rabia

Cuando ellos llevan el virus mortal
Algunos niños indígenas murieron

Note: To follow the rules of a Takna the German and Spanish translations vary from the
original English one.
The Great Vampire Bat (Desmodus rotundus) attack mainly farm animals e.g. cattle, goats
and sheep but also attack and suck blood during the night of people. If the carry the
deadly rabies virus they can kill man. Just recently four indigenous tribe children in the
border area of the Amazon jungle between Perú and Ecuador died from the deadly infection.

The Lump

I remember the day she said, " I found a lump. "
I could feel my entire world just sort of slump.
I put my arms around her as we began to cry.
I tried to be strong for her, like a tough guy.
No one can ever prepare you for a blow like that.
How do you fight the likes of a vampire bat.
As we talked to all the doctors they all agreed.
Surgery then chemo and then radiation therapy.
Surgery came first and it didn't take long.
They sent her right home and said you've got to be strong.
Next came chemo and boy let me tell you.
Worst thing in the world you could ever go thru.
It gets into your blood and eats you alive.
It makes you so sick you may not survive.
Even though your lying at deaths door.
They tell you buckle up, just one more.
Last but not least comes radiation therapy.
The heat so severe it burns your skin terribly.
Leaves you lying wasted and burned.
With hopes of survival even more concerned.
Now comes the waiting with thoughts and fears.
Days and weeks seems like years and years.
Little by little, as the months trickle by
You begin to relax, think you may not die.
Then comes the day you've been waiting for.
Your hand shakes so bad can hardly open the door.
The doctor says have a seat but you just want to scream.
The room starts to spin and its like you're in a dream.
The doctor is speaking but you can't seem to hear.
Suddenly you get it, you're now in the clear.
Relief overcomes you, and you begin to cry.
This is the day you learn you're not going to die.

Plasmana, the Vampirette

Plasmana, the vampirette
was invited to the annual ball
by Count Shevesky who was
handsome and six-feet tall.

It was held in his castle high
where vultures flew nearby
eyeing the guests with beady eyes
waiting for someone to die.

Women and their escorts dressed in finery
as they stepped out of their horse-drawn carriages,
the ball was a romantic setting for single ladies
who dreamed of rich and lasting marriages.

The ballroom was full of waltzing dancers,
women wearing tiaras or crowns,
swept away with their charming partners
as their silk slippers peeked under their gowns.

When Plasmana entered the ballroom near,
the music stopped and not a hush
was heard from the attendees,
her exotic beauty turned the men into mush.

After some time the music continued,
men kept staring at Plasmana the beauty,
all wanting to propose and love her forever,
overcome by a mesmerizing duty.

Count Shevesky stepped forward
and gently took her black-gloved arm,
he too was engulfed with her sensual looks,
and totally smitten by her charm.

They danced all night and he was hypnotized
by her penetrating dark and beauteous eyes
as he held her tightly he dreamed she was his wife,
totally worshipping this woman not knowing her guise.

The clock in the grand hallway struck midnight,
Plasmana's face was stricken with fear as
she fled from the arms of the Count so suddenly,
running as if a hunter chasing a deer.

Empty arms and no Plasmana, the Count chased
after her through the massive front doors,
only to discover her empty gown on the ground,
and a vampire bat flying towards the moors.

Each year when the ball is held in the autumn,
Count Shevesky looks longingly at the front door
for Plasmana the most exquisite woman he ever knew,
wanting to capture her essence once more.

Alison Alligator eating artichokes on a ant hill,
     watching
Beverly Bear floating on a cloud over there,
     which developed a leak,
     drenching
     Charlotte the twin headed elephant
     up to their knees,
     floating
     Danny the dingo swimming past.
     While watching,
      Eli the iguana,
     slithering over a leaf
     sharing a log,
with Francis the frog looking over,
as Gwenda the goose flew overhead
     into the gum tree,
     where,
Helen the hermit had laid down her head,
     on
     Ivy the twinning snake,
     who was always late,
     slithered up the tree,
     to give
     Jay the monkey,
     who was feeling funky,
     a fright.
     she dropped a nut on,
     Karen the kite,
who was in flight one starry night.
As Lil the parrot continued to trill,
     while
Marsha the mammoth grew quite still,
to much noise was making her ill,
     gave her the shakes
     and
Nosey Nancy the ant came up out of her mound
to see what was shaking the ground all around.
Olive the ostrich bent all her knees,
standing straight was making her sneeze!
     Then
Penelope the porcupine trotted on by
     to keep an appointment with
      Quirky the quill,
she was the queen of everything,
      she was quite mean.
     pushing
     Ruth the rambling rabbit into,
Silly sue who was a sea lion and lived in Sillyville,
     and lived there still.
     Alongside
     Terrible Tonya the Tonga tiger,
     who danced with,
Uncelet Uris who came from the north,
because of to many Tonga dancers rolling tires back abd forth.
Violet the vampire bat flew down to show
Wilson Lucille the very large whale,
how to stay out of jail.
she had a tendency you see,
     to hang out with
     Xantus, the hummingbird,
who lived on a yacht with a
     Yak Zack ,
and stole yogurt by the lot.
Finally to tired to tired to chat anymore,
Alison, Beverly, Charlotte, Danny, Eli, Francis, Gwenda, Helen, Ivy, Jay,
Karen, Lil, Marsha, Nancy, Olive, Penelope, Quirky, Ruth, Sue, Tonya, Uris, Violet, Wilson Lucille, Xantus, and Yak Zak
     fell asleep on the floor.

Premium Member The Me I Could Be

If I painted myself green and croaked
sitting beside cattails, I would be a bull frog, right?
If I put on a red satin lined cape and slept in a coffin
could I then be a Dracula or a vampire bat?

If I glued feathers all over my body and cut
off my arms, and attached wings, would I be a cardinal?
Or a chicken or a peacock or a robin or what?

I am tempted to do it, merely to find out after
I finish slithering under this rock searching for
mice to gulp down.

Shh! Here comes one now, and you know how
tasty they can be.

Premium Member Enjoyable

'You are so enjoyable! '
'I enjoy the hell out of you! '
Is it possible to give another greater praise?
What on earth would it be?
'I love you' is so fraught with expectations...
Not wanting to be a heartless cad, an idiot,
Or a soulless exploiter of women
I hesitate to say 'I love you too sweetheart! '
Like a common vampire bat
Hungry for the taste of warm blood.

Maybe 'I need you so much Baby! '
Is what you long to hear?
Does it really build you up to hear another say
They are incomplete without you in their lives,
That they can never own what you possess,
That they have a hunger only you can sate,
That you are everything they are not?
How does her groveling make you a better man,
Or reassure you that she's the perfect match?
Are you really that insecure?

How about 'Your smile gives me Goosebumps? '
Did you ever try that line on a woman and mean it?
It's not that I don't miss a woman's exposed neck,
Rare is the soul indeed that escapes famine's pains
But what I really hunger for
Is My Woman's blood...
The kind of blood that is not available
From a mobile Red Cross Blood Bank.
And how is it that another's life force,
Their totally unique blood can belong to me (or you) ?

A possible answer, one that rings true for me,
Is the one that Christ modeled for us...
Certainly it must be a gift...
But Christ's transcendent gift
Was not seductive, not meant for me alone,
He gave freely of himself for all...
Rich or poor, blessed or unblessed, saint or sinner,
Most would consider me mad if I, like Jesus,
Claimed the power to reconcile anyone to the Creator
And they would be right. So was Christ insane?

Christ's marriage vows contained no words
Only action... Action intended to lift us up...
Not to restrain us in chains of guilt or responsibility
But to remind us all that 'God so loved the world...'
You and I, We are God's beloved! Unwashed and unsaved!
So you wonder how it is that you can ever know
That a woman is your woman?
The answer is not the quality or volume of her blood,
The answer is not in ceremony or contractual agreement.
The answer is Grace, the perfect gift, God's Grace.

Premium Member The Landlord Calls

There’s a tabby ally cat
And a very scabby rat
And a vampire bat
And a very hungry gnat
And a horrid little brat
And they lived in a flat
Where a man in a hat
Saw a stain on the mat
It’s an awful splat
Like a small cow pat
So we need to chat
Because where we’re at
And from where I’m sat
There’s some tit for tat
Like a democrat
Or a diplomat
With a caveat
To avoid a spat
Re your habitat
There’s a well known stat
When a pike meets sprat
That the sprat says drat
Can I pay for that
And with cash begat…

Premium Member Adding To Our Tea Party

They were doing the tango, the slide and the dip.
We told them they were unrefined; the gargoyle let it slip.
They came after us with machetes, axes, knives and such.
We scurried from the table; Frankenstein knocked down the hutch.

Oh, sorry said the ghouls, the werewolves, and the vampire bat.
But wow! Look at this spread! Will you kindly look at that?
We stopped in mid run, to watch them admire our tea party.
Why don’t you join us? Frankenstein’s ma asked, real hearty.

Are you sure there is enough? A closet monster asked in awe.
Sure! She said. These dainty biscuits would never fill his pa!
We even invited the witches, the warlocks, and the lambadam king.
We shared the table cloth as napkins, our paws reigned supreme.

We discussed the next tea party, who would be invited and all.
After the pandemic, we got along great, this would be a new fall.
The Frankenstein’s hosted it this time, one of the goblins said loudly.
We will be the next sponsors; his kin agreed rather proudly.

We started a masterful tradition that day in the forest of oaks.
A tea party of diverse monsters; and we discovered we are really just folks

Premium Member Monica Devil

(The song to be sung in the To The Tune Of... Cruella DeVil)

Monica Devil, Monica Devil,
If she doesn’t scare you, no evil thing will,
To see her is to take a sudden chill,
Monica, Monica Devil.

The curl of her lip, the ice in her stare,
All innocent children had better beware,
She’s like a spider waiting for the kill,
Look out for Monica Devil.

At first you think Monica is a devil,
But after time has worn away the shock,
You come to realize, you've met a sly fox,
Beware of Monica Devil.

This vampire bat, this inhuman beast,
She ought to be locked up and never released,
The world was such a wholesome place until,
Monica, Monica Devil.

If she doesn’t scare you, no evil thing will,
To see her is to take a sudden chill,
Monica, Monica Devil.

She’s like a spider waiting for the kill,
Look out for Monica Devil.

Her menacing grin, her sinister style,
She’s got the look that would make you run a mile,
The world was such a wholesome place until,
Monica, Monica Devil.

Premium Member Comical Cat With His Embellished Hat

Comical Cat with his embellished top hat
Sat at the table with an ugly vampire bat
Along came a bee, all fluffy and phat.
We will be joined shortly by my friend, Freddy Gnat.

Do you like my burgundy ribbon? Asked the cat
Showing off his silky flamboyance, so shiny and fat.
Not as much as your bowtie, said Freddy the gnat.
Eyeing a small inviting hole in Comical Cat’s gorgeous hat.
