The Me I Could Be
If I painted myself green and croaked
sitting beside cattails, I would be a bull frog, right?
If I put on a red satin lined cape and slept in a coffin
could I then be a Dracula or a vampire bat?
If I glued feathers all over my body and cut
off my arms, and attached wings, would I be a cardinal?
Or a chicken or a peacock or a robin or what?
I am tempted to do it, merely to find out after
I finish slithering under this rock searching for
mice to gulp down.
Shh! Here comes one now, and you know how
tasty they can be.
