Premium Member Upward, Child

Scarce contained within its bounds
Surging, straining to break free
Pulsating and palpable
Enticed by its pure energy
Mesmerized and drawn, a moth to flame

O, that I might be a god!
Grab these reins and take control
Are they not mine, and this, my day
For others to admire, extol?
Seduced complete by thoughts of storied fame

Child, remove thy hand, step back
Quick to act, quick to forget
How thy ways cause misery
Sorrow, shame, and much regret
Pleasure, fleeting, always ends the same

Upward cast thy gaze, child, never down
Your loving Father ever wears the crown

Premium Member Falling Upward

I watch the rain flow backwards,
back up into the sky.
I was soaking wet
and now I am dry
All the moisture is gone,
sucked up from the ground.
Reversing rain,
it makes no sound.

The flowers cry,
tears joining the rain
As the moisture is lost,
do the flowers feel pain?
Their colors exhaled,
only dust remains.

The trees look angry,
gnarled branches are bare.
Colorful foliage no longer there
Leaves like breath,
have blown away.
The birds have left,
no reason to stay.

The world we know,
reaches it's end.
Back to the sky,
life's blood ascends!
With each droplet,
we make amends.
Back to dust,
we do descend

Our crimes are many,
the earth cries out for blood.
We become part of,
a different kind of flood.
Now rejoined to the earth,
us foolish men of mud.

Questions answered,
as we rise from the dead.
The Earth is restored,
by rivers of red.
Fountain of life,
no more need for rain.
True Joy makes way,
ending human pain
Blessed are the forgiven,
God mercifully reigns!

Waking in a garden,
within a city of light.
We are clothed in garments,
of brilliant white.
Sins now forgotten,
like dust blown away.
Night and darkness,
replaced by this new day
Gifted new bodies,
we're no longer just clay.
God's promises are kept
He has the final say!

Upward Path

In the dark wastelands
of my traumas, I see ahead
a path that leads to my
healing—

and in the far distance
of this upward path, I see
mountains of growth
awaiting my daring climb.

Premium Member Cumulus Rejoice

Most cherished of thoughts, ideas abloom,
spreading, expanding
Overcoming harsh crushing repression,
breaking loose into a fluffy
sacred cloud bound emancipation
Liberation! My spirit takes flight, light,
mellow, blithe and callow
No longer crushed prostrate
'neath the crushing tyranny of the basis gossip
I inhale an atmosphere crisp and fresh,
bounding upward, deep into the wide blue yonder
Grace most astounding ecstatic!
Voices mocking, condemning now stilled-upward
I soar toward a far more welcoming place than
I have ever known
Rejoice!

Onward and Upward

Sometimes when you're alone
Who can you call?
Who can you phone?
Close friends are few
Some just grew old
Nobody new
Nights always cold
So now you stop
It's time to think
Life does not vanish
In a wink
Lots of new folks are still here
It takes some work
No need to fear
Lots of others need a friend
A little sweat could start a trend
So you put yourself right out
Now there's no more need to pout
You stumble on a brand new group
You fit right in
You tie the loop
Now your days just race right by
New friends at last
No need to cry
You worked real hard
To push ahead
No bad thoughts now
Goodbye to dread

Onward and Upward

"Onward and upward"

the good men and women were heard to say
as they drew their swords to join the fray
The enemy was vanquished and did quickly give way
And peace was preserved in a grandiose display
Now for those that gave all we kneel and pray
So they will be forever remembered on this Memorial Day

I remembered a time in spring
                                         when I glazed upward,
                                      the clouds taking shapes of
                                           trains, elephants, lions and cars.
I could spend hours playing my
                                                games.

                                       Now, when I look up,
                                          those shapes are gone.
In their place, words like cumulus,
                                           cirrus, stratus and cumulonimbus
                                        enter.

Somehow I like the old games better.

Upward, Downward

He’ s not the one for me

I realized today

He makes me smile…

He makes me laugh

He gives me songs.

Though it is crap

He erases the pain.

When I am down

He strums his guitar.

He sings a tune

He gives compliments.

And he means it every time

He seems too good

He seems so surreal

When I look at him

He is perfect.

Soar Upward Against the Wind

A butterfly with wings frail
Rises heavenward against the wind
Witnessing life’s conflicting direction
Floating constantly upward
What chrysalis owned you?
How solitary is your world?
Alone each day
A silent, windless end
Fly, butterfly, fly!
Why accept this knowing
You can soar out of the rain
Into the sunny world
Of Love

Upward

Together at last in love and life;
Mixtures of commotion and peace,
Upheavals, hope, and strife.
In the name of progress, regression reigns;
But the end is set
And all needs met.
It's onward and upward to heights yet unknown
Where the winds of eternity
On souls have all blown.
Gone forever are kingdoms of old
Only ashes left of yesteryear,
But our souls are in transit to destinies yet unseen.
Movements and streams all pulling
To gain control of what once had been.
Souls through love set free
Are wooed to freedom.
A freedom in slavery,
A prison without walls,
Standing through yielding.
Our souls progress united with Life
Towards eons of Light with an almighty breath
To receive an inheritance eternal
A life attained only through death.

Return To the Stars

If we remember to look at horizon and sky
The Universe draws us higher, whispers a reply
We all are stardust yet somehow so earthy
Humans eschew solid troughs, for color & crest (the showy)

I remember a time when I felt like being on the outside looking inside.
It was a time of great intentions but very limited abilities to make changes.
I knew that there were greater things to consider in my future.
In time, those horse and buggie days gave way to the jet age.
And since then, I have been building a good life for me and family.

Premium Member Leaves Whisked Upward

Breeze-swept lawns
  leaves whisked upward
whirling once again only
to flutter lazily to the earth

Early November
  tree limbs suddenly bare
Wherefore the rush
  gentle the wind yet
