The child, now sleeping, loudly snores.
The nightlight shines there on the wall.
If you could peer under the door,
The sight awaiting would enthrall:
It seems the toys have come to life!

They are engaged in no mere game:
A toyland battle to the death!
The superheroes are to blame;
The men in green have few troops left;
Their losses heavy in the strife.

With Duplo blocks, they barricade,
Regroup their forces there behind.
They inventory their grenades,
Make mental notes of where they've mined,
Prepare to meet their tragic end.

Magneto rises from the floor,
Unleashes his attractive beam;
The troops let out a racous roar,
for they are plastic, it would seem,
thus to his will they do not bend.

A team dispatched to try and flank,
To scale the chair, come from the back.
But Hulk awaits them like a tank,
Behind a pillow, sneak attack.
The spear is blunted, further thinned.

The captain, knowing things are dire,
Determines he will save the men,
and laying bare some lamp cord wire,
he challenges Magneto then;
His sergeant understands and grins.

Magnetic forces back in play,
the soldier runs, flips the switches.
The predator becomes the prey;
Magneto, arcing current, twitches:
a turning point in this grim war.

The flash of light wakes up the child;
she bolts up, eyes now open wide.
The spell is broken; meek and mild,
the toys, inert, lay side by side.
Her head back down, again she snores.

So that's an ABABC DEDEC tail-rhyme, and kind of a fun one!

There Was No Snow In Toyland

There was no snow in Toyland!

There was no snow in Toyland!
The reindeer munched their Hay.
The magic of a white Christmas!
Was just not there that day.

The Christmas fairy visited.
Santa expressed his fear.
His sleigh had no runway.
To take off on this year!

All the elves were brokenhearted.
The toys made, packed and labelled ready to go.
All loaded on Santa’s sleigh.
Which could not take off, you know!

Although the Christmas fairy was magical.
She could not make it snow.
But she had something better.
Do you really want to know?

If you had heard of her friend Tinkerbell.
I’m sure that you would know.
She was a friend of Peter Pan.
Oh yes she was, you know.

Now where was I? What was I going to say?
Oh yes, I remember now.
I was going to say how the Christmas fairy.
Saved Christmas day and now I will tell you how.

She went round all the reindeer.
And sprinkled in their food!
Some of her magic flying dust.
Father Christmas ate some too.

Well, he was soon as light as dust.
His reindeer were as well.
Then, when the elves hitched the reindeer up.
They almost flew as well.

So off they flew all of them.
Thirteen reindeer pulled the sleigh.
As Father Christmas had Rudolph.
Leading in front, I say.

And did his nose show the way?
It glowed so blinking light.
Everyone thought it was a shooting star.
Flying so quickly through the night.

So worry not, boys and girls.
If there is no snow any year.
As I know the Christmas fairy.
Pays a visit to Toyland ever year!

Oh! Ho! Ho!

Premium Member A Friend From Toyland

At eighteen months, I was too young
For such a fragile dolly.
I received her on my second Christmas
My indulgent parents’ folly.

I don’t remember getting “Nelly”.
She just had always been there.
She’d sit so quietly in my lap
As I rocked in my rocking chair.

She had big, blue, sleeping eyes,
And was dressed in silk and lace.
Brown curls of real human hair
Surrounded her lovely face.

She was a big part of my childhood,
While other toys came and went.
Her nice silk dress turned into shreds
As careless days we spent.

She sits now in a nice new case
With replaced clothes and hair.
This faithful companion of my youth
Deserves the best of care.

Toyland Island

I'm going to sea in a blueberry boat
Full of bananas and chocolate like an ice cream float
Raising cotton candy sails with my best friend
Picking up speed in the pixie dust wind

Rock candy dolphins jump in the strawberry sea
My crew of gingerbread boys sail with me
Gumballs, candy and sweet lollypops
Yummy filled pies with whipped cream tops

Sailing to Toy Island for girls and boys
Games for everyone and lots of toys
Do everything you always wanted to do
Where magical dreams really do come true
