Best Touting Poems
Like the pompous pied piper leading the way,
chirping his tune of a dawning new day,
frustrations were championed, oh how we followed,
the ego stuffed shirt of a suit cold and hollow.
From the top of the hill, he showed us the view,
convincing our eyes it was harshly askew.
Nearing the cliffs as if caught in a spell,
he fed us like lambs from his poisonous well.
Touting sweet taste of his truth well embittered,
ignoring the signs of nonsensical twitter,
rot with the smell of the nations decay,
we drank from his cup of a water so gray.
Watching and waiting for gifts of his gruel,
the masses assured we were not made a fool,
his promise of greatness was all we could see,
with great expectations of how it would be.
There's no turning back once we swore the man in,
believing bright futures were soon to begin,
blinding frustration gave evil its day
for the pompous pied piper to lead us astray.
He led us to thinking, all driven by fear,
then gave his directives so cryptically clear,
stripping the values by which we would stand
before the American dream had been banned.
Addicted to all the attention and glory,
swiftly he moved to remain the top story,
insisting on walls made of concrete and steel
built by the anger and hate we should feel.
Then some were shaken, disrupting his spell
and found he was stealing our Liberty Bell.
The fog began lifting and soon we would see
the piper exposed as the fraud he would be.
Time has a way, proven over again,
of playing its imminent part.
The shedding of light upon every mans soul,
exposing his darkness of heart.
No longer seduced by the piping we hear,
choosing to see through the veil,
Democracy once again fights to survive,
let us all pray we prevail!

Vows get recanted as passions flounder
on the shoals of betrayal and remorse.
And drifting dreams navigate in darkness
whenever love starts to wander off course.
Beware of lust, a cunning emotion,
touting trickery and deceit as truth.
The seeds of trust oft germinate slowly,
and patience is a virtue new to youth.
Naive hearts are vulnerable to lies,
for the truth often appears conflictive.
Yet when love creates tears of happiness,
their salty-sweet taste can be addictive.
The feeling of being unique and prized
is awesome, combining two into one.
And purges the hurt from a broken heart,
instilling happiness, laughter, and fun.
Intimate moments make life worth living,
a time when your heart's devoid of despair.
Even though it is intangible, love's
physical impact is beyond compare.
To be loved is to feel wanted and whole,
instantly giving life a brand-new start.
For it's a miracle unto itself,
asking only that you believe your heart.

Missing the days
When I was the craziest person I knew
This mad world
Has incredibly gotten madder
Radios TVs blaring panic
Humanity gobbling it up like candy
Social distancing
Because society hadn't already
Become distant enough
Do you know your neighbor's name
Do you dare knock on their door
No
Cell phone at the ready
Why is no one touting "fake news" now
So much easier to believe
Words that raise the blood pressure
Society is being restructured
In front of our blind eyes
When the smoke clears
And the ash settles
What will remain
Will the best or worst
Be revealed
Will you slow down
Realize you've been ignoring
What's most important
Or will the social unrest
Already so out of control
Use this fuel to engulf the nation
The future is in our hands

Pelosi showed she's totally unfit
And cares about common folk not one whit
When touting Obama Care,
Said with her usual flair:
"Ya gotta read it to see what's in it!"

Grace is the right balance

Swathed in bandages from head to toe
That cut on my finger could go septic you know
I’m not really touting for any attention
It’s a guard against certain, imminent infection
Prevention is better than cure, I’ve always said
Remember what happened to poor old Uncle Fred
He went into hospital after a coughing bout
Popped his clogs and never came out
You can never be too careful in this day and age
A runny nose can go on the rampage
Before you know it, the common cold
Has become an epidemic, killing young and old
I was surfing the internet the other day
And couldn’t believe all the ailments on display
I’ve had most; if not all; of those medical terms
If I wasn’t so ill......I’d do a Masters in germs

Trump the President Acrostic
By Franklin Price
1/14/2017
The twentieth is coming soon
Reserved inauguration day
Undeserving is the one
Most democrats still say
President, he will become then anyway
The people's vote has spoken
He's there for swearing in
Entering the top spot with a win
Postulating possibilities
Resigned to make the deal
Everyone will watch him
Show what made his appeal
Installing walls on borders
Delivering for the vet
Engaging with his tweeting
None have fired him as yet
Touting jobs for all the citizens, you bet!

Christmas sparks spontaneous smiles
on the faces of young and old.
A family celebration,
touting brotherly love and cheer.
On the faces of young and old,
a rosy glow is clearly seen.
Children can't wait for Santa Claus,
counting down the days in their dreams.
A family celebration
where gifts are received and given.
And placed under a sparkling tree,
all gussied up with tinsel foil.
Touting brotherly love and cheer,
it's a magical time of year.
And for a brief fantastic time,
neighbors share a greeting of peace.

"Licking Life’s Luscious Lips"
Life viewed
ephemeral
pulsating, stroking
many smooth angles
there are no sharp
golden lit angels found here
touting
slippery sails
floating away
to dreamland swinging
self righteous
sermons
burning
for something
"MORE"
tripping on
tarnished halos
twisting dreams
of a life ordinary
natural
hunts
through
the faux
goodbye Poe
when Summer comes
to kiss off the wintry
long dark good knights
jades now see fully
through the kaleidoscope
blushing entries
expectant arrivals
shown
exiting
flushed contesting
through the consistent
revolving door
evolvers evolving
revealing
strident smiles
minds
repetitive
complex music
sedative
long legged demon
dropping old chapters
tearing pages
of wasted time
strategic
feral, wild
contemplating
fresh conviction
lost lexicon
freed loose matters
decisions threaded
through haystack needles
licking life’s luscious lips
feline hungry
preying for
the crème de la crème
the cherry's always
on top
LOVE
like a cat
kneading ...

They never walked Earth's crusted back,
Carried but a while then coldly denied,
But these little feet make big tracks,
On paths whereby humanity is tried.
Only revelation will show the narrow road not taken,
All the prophets, saints and saviors forsaken.
They never walked Earth's crusted back,
But these little feet make big tracks.
Licentious laws lacking spiritual lights,
Bought by jargon jingoes claiming pseudo rights,
Allow doctors to quietly crush the frightened innocent skulls,
And break the little bent backs, of babes whom parents cull.
Surreptitious organizations sired by Legion and conceived in greed,
Ambiguously cite Philanthropy, touting Lucifer's malignant seed,
So these prophets and saviors may never walk Earth's crusted back,
Nevertheless, these little martyred feet... make big tracks.
One million aborted per year in the U.S. since nineteen seventy three,
In the land of the licentious, certainly not the free.
They never walked Earth's crusted back,
But these little feet leave big tracks......

George Washington chopped down a tree as a lad
Then told his dad that he'd been bad
With the stroke of a pen, Thomas Jefferson kick-started a nation
Touting revolution every so often with his Declaration
Andrew Jackson had a penchant for whiskey
Native Americans found him way too frisky
Abraham Lincoln was thin but brave
Reunited the nation and freed the slaves
As a child Teddy Roosevelt was always ill
But as President he led the charge up San Juan Hill
His cousin Franklin took over in the Great Depression
And then three times won reelection.
JFK and Jackie ushered in 'Camelot'
'Til in a Dallas motorcade he was shot
Ronald Reagan demanded the Soviets end their stall,
"Mr. Gorbachev, please, tear down that wall!"
Bill Clinton said, "It's the economy, Stupid!"
Before he was cut down by Monica and Cupid
And now Mr. Trump draw lines in the sand
Saying, "Let's make America great again!"
And did you know that Yankee Doodle preferred apple strudel
To a leftover dish of cold, wet noodles?
Hope you've enjoyed this reprise of Presidential history
Which to the majority of Americans is an absolute mystery
P.S. Rumors have it that Yankee Doodle is considering a
comeback run for POTUS in the 2020 election.
His slogan reportedly will be, "Make America
handy with Yankee Doodle Dandy."
The "Me-too" movement has already
dialed in death threats ...

You played the game of thrones
with devious glee and amoral passion
Nothing was too low for you to stoop to
Your career-cutting teeth were honed
in staid institutions of medieval bastions
Ruling class initiations helped toughen you,
made you understand
the necessary things you needed to do
But, it was only part of the game,
you always knew
On graduation day,
you were thrust into the political arena
against an old, crafty pachyderm lion
He had tough, scarred skin,
and you had to fight dirty for your first win ...
but it's a different world,
now that you're an incumbent
Some say you were looking rather presidential
A few years have now rolled around,
and your party's touting you for the crown
It seems easy enough ...
you're going up against an unseasoned rookie
So you start off by giving him a sound byte cookie,
hoping he stick his greedy hand in the jar
Then you put a couple of honeys around his hands,
and sent the curious media bees after him, buzzing
That made the amateur millionaire boiling mad,
then you talked trash about his wife and his dad
You was slinging the mud, often and fast,
loaded with plenty of ammo from his dirty past
Made your arch-rival raise the white flag of surrender,
and the path to the throne littered with so many pretenders
Now you're the king sitting high atop all alone,
with all your enemies vanquished and subdued
Cast off to the wayside,
as you penthouse gaze with a panoramic view
Having satiated thoughts of conquest
It was never personal ... it was only politics,
you always knew
