Little Feet

They never walked Earth's crusted back, Carried but a while then coldly denied, But these little feet make big tracks, On paths whereby humanity is tried. Only revelation will show the narrow road not taken, All the prophets, saints and saviors forsaken. They never walked Earth's crusted back, But these little feet make big tracks. Licentious laws lacking spiritual lights, Bought by jargon jingoes claiming pseudo rights, Allow doctors to quietly crush the frightened innocent skulls, And break the little bent backs, of babes whom parents cull. Surreptitious organizations sired by Legion and conceived in greed, Ambiguously cite Philanthropy, touting Lucifer's malignant seed, So these prophets and saviors may never walk Earth's crusted back, Nevertheless, these little martyred feet... make big tracks. One million aborted per year in the U.S. since nineteen seventy three, In the land of the licentious, certainly not the free. They never walked Earth's crusted back, But these little feet leave big tracks......

I wish people everywhere could read both you have written. Is concience so dead these days that it can't be reached? We live in such sad times.

I sometimes wonder if they ever considered what missions, what gifts these poor babies were bringing to earth. Perhaps, the cancer cure, perhaps the solution to famine? We'll never know. Thank you for reading and leaving your kind comments for me, Robert. Blessings for speaking about this always, Robert. Peace, Audrey

The tracks of these lives weigh heavily on our consciences, Robert. I was never able to have children and was told the waiting list to adopt would require me to wait years. While I respect a woman's right to choose, I do wish we could do more to prevent unwanted pregnancies and offer "life" options for those who see abortion as the only alternative. God bless you for caring about these souls. As a Catholic, that is how I have always viewed them. Much love, Carolyn

It is definitely a sordid happening in our society. The details with which you describe what the doctors do is disturbing. We need to combat selfishness today. These kinds of poems should be published. Great work of the pen, Robert! Thanks for sharing and thank you for your comments on "The Lunar Effect". Best wishes, Caroline.

That's a very powerful refrain going thru your poem, Robert. Great writing. And hey, you can still do your OWN take on "words" I certainly don't have the market cornered on it! LUv, Andrea

Speaking from experience, I can truly relate. My child would've been 24 years old. I almost lost my mind. I never thought something like that would ever happen to me. What helps me make it through each day? Knowing that we'll see each other someday in heaven. Thank you for sharing this heartfelt piece. God's blessings to you! Milt

Robert, Your powerful poem had me in tears after reading the first stanza. This poem should be required reading for every young to older woman considering to end the life of their unborn. Beautifully and poignantly written. Blessings, Connie see soup mail

A very wise old guru once said "no matter who you are, you are exactly where you have put yourself." WOW! This might include a whole heap of beliefs, including karma. But, again, I can't level this belief at an unborn fetus. If, indeed, the unborn has put his/herself in the belly-position, then, he/she must be allowed to stay there. That's karma, baby. But I don't know whether to believe in karma or not. Common sense tells me, though, that it is wrong to kill any living human. Love, daver
