Premium Member Path To Peace

I have fought through incredible things
Trauma and all kinds of life experiences
One may think peace comes to one easy
But it doesn’t, as the years I have witnessed
Faith kept me going and my fight for survival
Staying authentic no matter what the issue is
Also what I believe in and standing by truth
All this can sound easy, but it is not always so
It is faith and the will to make it all happen
I have seen treacherous things done to others
That hit me deeply, wishing there is not cruelty
But there is a lot of it in the world out there
Unless we all try to do better still, as we can
--- I have fought and I have failed---
   --- I have fought and I have succeeded ---
Up and down this road traveled in life will be
The consistency remains with who I am inside
To do the best I can through the journey I have
As we are true to ourselves, we are true to others
--- I learn the reward is to be earned ---
--- From genuine LOVE comes peace ---

In Silk and Dreams, breakfast at Tiffany’s
nights of lavender lace, mornings with dew
a highlighted garden of mysteries
waterfall wishes, windblown thoughts of you

In a playground of desire, succeeded
candle flickering a flame, whispers true
a familiar song- Just What I Needed
waterfall wishes, windblown thoughts of you

In a Shakespearean Sonnet, refrain
nights of lavender lace, mornings with dew
echos in flight, blossoms against the rain
waterfall wishes, windblown thoughts of you

In blushing shades and twilight symphonies
In Silk and Dreams, breakfast at Tiffany’s

WHAT IF Written Pre-Pandemic

What if a rigid thinking, extremist group
Decided to do something about Planet Earth’s
Over-population,
I mean let’s just think about this, fantasy
Of course, Just a vivid imagination!
What if they wanted to eradicate and eliminate
At least fifty per cent of humans’ world wide
And the ‘HOW” would leave nowhere to hide.
The secret would purposefully be let to leak,
So that chaos would reign, terror would spread,
People would freak!
Traversing from one side of the globe
To the other, Armies and Air force alerted,
Governments, Presidents and Prime Ministers,
Appeasing and trying to calm hysteria,
A killer cerebral virus, a very aggressive malaria,
To be released the news headlines said,
Within days millions will be dying or dead!
What if fifty per cent of the rest of world
Were told would be allowed to live,
People then going into frenzy,
Who was to stay alive and who was to die?
What if this extremist group succeeded
And brought this horror to fruition,
What a demon like, despicable ambition
What if?
Think of the film Inferno
That virus was caught just in time,
And so the hero prevented an
Inhumane crime!

Premium Member DON'T FORGET UKRAINE?

Between an unjust war or peace, which would you choose?
Ukraine had no choice so we must ensure they don't lose
Russian thugs invaded Ukraine to reinstate the Iron Curtain
And this is only the very beginning and of that I am certain.

I know it's a big ask, the Ukrainian people asking for more
But do you really want Russian thugs banging on your door
With the west and NATO's help Ukraine are holding their own
Now is not the time for the west, to look away and disown.

NATO and the civilised world should never bow to tyranny
If we're not united against Putin he will look on with glee
Don't waver in your support of this brave and proud nation
Don't hand Putin a hollow victory for the Russian Federation.

Like most of the civilised world, Ukraine wants to live in peace
If Putin wins do ask yourself, who's next, Estonia or Greece?
We've supported the Ukrainian people from the very beginning
Only with our support have they got a good chance of winning.

It's been nearly two years now and Putin hasn't yet succeeded
Ukrainians are fighting for their lives, but more arms are needed
It is certainly not the time for our politicians to argue about cost
If they do, it will be on their heads that freedom's war was lost.

I look forward to the day when Putin is put on trial in The Hague
Who's been the cause of so many deaths, more than the plague
Don't vote for gutless politicians who want to look the other way
Only by us being totally united will we be able to make Putin pay.

Poetic Words

Through so many poems I tried to explain.
I've tried to paint a picture in your brain.
Through my words we've popped champagne.
I was your Tarzan and you were my Jane.
Through my words I've tried to take your body beyond this physical plane.
You were my honeycomb and I was your candy cane.
Through my words we've made love in the rain.
You came, screamed my name as I entered your domain.
Through my words I was serious yet I tried to entertain.
Your heart is what I've done my best to obtain.
So I pray my words were worthwhile,
And I succeeded making your heart smile.

*Here's for you sunshine....

Premium Member My Heart Sings

Little things in life are best of all,
As watching autumn leaves, snowflakes fall,
Or reading of Cinderella at the ball,
Or other legends that grew so tall-
My heart sings when robins call!

Church bells chime on Sunday morn;
In it, our hopes are born.
Who sought with variety to adorn,
Bird and bush and those yet unborn?
My heart sings because I'm never forlorn.

When Alice grew up, she touched the sky,
Drawn to White Rabbit, I don't know why.
If you wan't to question miracles, never try.
I just love to watch the bluebirds fly.
My heart sings, for God is nigh.

His love's all I ever needed.
Without it, I've not succeeded.
All my sins could not have fled,
But for The Man who healed the sick and raised the dead.
I rejoice for what He did and said.

Each moment, each ray of sun, He planned.
Nature is tended by God's loving hand.
Spread His word all over the land,
Live in eternal love so grand,
My heart sings of flowers in the sand.

Life and love are our destiny,
With Him, we must never disagree,
For dwellers of His days are we.
Ever watchful, Father, you call to me.
My heart sings to thee!

My Lifetime Friend: My Mother

MY LIFETIME FRIEND: MY MOTHER

Throughout childhood and adolescent days,
She was my staunchest supporter,
And through teen years and young adulthood
I was glad to be her daughter.
As a mother-in-law and grandma,
She’s there whenever/wherever she’s needed,
And if this was to be her lot in life,
She’s definitely succeeded.
But whatever she is to other folks;
A friend, sister or other,
She is to me, and will always be
MY LIFETIME FRIEND: MY MOTHER!

Premium Member Leadership

Leadership is an in-born trait? Oh, I'm not so sure of that.
Though many leaders have the genes, when they were pressed fell flat!
Many are the leaders whose mettle during stress was ceded,
And men of lesser rank stepped forward and succeeded!

A successful leader if he is astute and very wise,
Will surround himself with sage folks to counsel and advise.
He will ever be trusted by those with whom he serves,
And in doing so will earn the respect he so well deserves!

He will heed the needs and aspirations of others,
And develop a team spirit among his sisters and brothers.
He will lead with integrity, concern and fortitude,
And for a job well done will always express his gratitude!

He'll be the first on the job at dawn - at night the last to leave.
He will mentor and encourage others to strive their best to achieve!
A leader will ever be loyal to those above and below,
And accept responsibility no matter from whence it flow!

A sense of humor is essential to soothe when tensions rise.
When company policies change he will hasten his people to apprise!
A leader will honestly demure when he is heaped with praise,
Saying, "Sir, these outstanding people of mine deserve the raise!"

My Unhappy Lazyboy

After a long work day I come home to a long warm shower. It was getting late into
evening hours. I sat down in my favorite black leather chair. Not knowing I was in for a big
scare. I rolled a joint and sat back fully reclined. I was getting high out of my mind.
As I was enjoying my weed, I almost choked because a voice spoke beneath me! I
jumped up and listened to my chair spit profanity. I wondered if I was loosing my sanity.
My lazyboy said, "Don't be scared, sit down and talk to me!"
I seriously thought I was dreaming. Like an out-of-body experience waking up
screaming. No this is real, very real. I just knew my chair was about to do a cartwheel!
"No need looking around wearing a frown, you been sitting down on me for years; so
have no fear. No it's not the weed, you're seeing clearly, so sit down and listen to me."
I sat down in utter shock, resting my buttocks. As my chair began to explain.
"No Jimmy you're not going insane, but I feel you're causing me harm. I have burns,
scratches, now dust all along my arms. I'm left with a permanant frown. I desperately need
a rub down. I don't wanna be mean, but get some disinfectant and clean. The way I'm living
is obscene!"
No more explanations were needed. So after a good wipe down it was obvious I had
succeeded. My lazyboy's black leather had a nice shine. Now I wanted to rest my spine.
"Ah I feel so much better. Now I can go back into a deep sleep. You can go back
enjoying your weed or nicotine. Just remember my hygiene, and from time to time give me
a clean - Thank you."
I could have sworn my lazyboy gave me a wink. I shook my head, tomorrow I would
go see a shrink!

Look at the 1st quarter moon of the 7th
Day of the 7th month in the naked sky.
There! The two stars Vega and Altair
Blinded by love like Yaksha & his beloved
In the Bard Kalidas’s epic poem Meghdootam.

Vega neglecting her weaving and
Altair allowed the cows to stray.
So did lovelorn Yaksha in his duties to Kubera.
Dereliction in each case infuriated the kings.
Vega and Altair separated by the Milky Way
And Yaksha from Alkapuri in the Himalayas to Ramgiri.
Yaksha expurgated by separation for a year.
Vega succeeded in arousing the sympathy
Was allowed to meet Altair once in a year
Provided no rain on the eve of seventh
To unite in the milky way-Scorpion region
On the bank of Amanogawa river.
Prospero proved wiser expiating Ferdinand
By his log bearing as ‘trials of thy love’.
Reducing Miranda as ‘rich gift’ or ‘acquisition’
Forever as compensation to Ferdinand’s pains?

Explanations of foreign words in the poem:
Japanese “Tana” means a shelf in English and “bata” is a transformation of “hata” which
means a loom
"weaving with the loom (bata) placed on the shelf (tana)",
One popular Tanabata custom is to write one's wishes on a piece of paper, and hang that
piece of paper on a specially erected bamboo tree, in the hope that the wishes become true.
According to a Chinese legend, the two stars Altair and Vega,
Yakshas : name of the Kubera’s servant
Meghdootam: Megh (rainy clouds and Dootam means messenger)An epic poem written in
Sanskrit in the year 400 A.D. by the great Indian Bard Kalidas – meaning cloud messenger
Ramgiri ; a hill near Nagpur in Central India
Alka: the name of the city in Himalayan region also known as Alkapuri

Premium Member Hieroglyphs and Holograms

I am lost in the heart of time and place
Stranded between the present and past
In my view are members of a civilized race
Whose slaves build stone pyramids to last
Hieroglyphics etched to record their history
Writings in symbolic language of inscriptions
In a complex allegorical system of mystery
Claimed to have been created by Egyptians

A hologram I witnessed scared me as a child
How did that blue woman get inside the ball
My imagination escaped and was running wild
In the Haunted Mansion ride she was so small
In three dimensions it was caused by laser light
But as a kid I couldn't have known how it was done
It succeeded in having the effect of causing fright
If I knew how it worked it would've spoiled the fun.

Now there is a hologram that you can actually touch
Using ultrasound waves that are traveling in air tracts.
It's called Ultra Haptics, and in the future will do much
To help with CT scans and dating Egyptian artifacts.
To see a hologram of Cleopatra would be stunning
I wonder if her hieroglyphic writing would give a clue
About the Queen known for her beauty and cunning.
Makes me wonder what else new technology can do.

Dangerous Love

You wanted someone strong; you wanted someone who wouldn’t crack. You thought you were making me tough by breaking me down. You told yourself it was the only way, because I wasn’t the boy you wanted.
No
I was a girl, your first born. I was delicate, young, and very impressionable. I grew numb to the pain I became accustom to.
You succeeded. You made me into someone the world couldn’t shatter, because you can’t break something that’s already in pieces.

Fritterbatter

No one is more famous than Allo Wishis
Who, with his bat, broke all 108 stitches
Exposing a yarn ball, the leather fell fast
Causing the fans, to rise, with a gasp

Back in a corner lot, below Hamby Square
Was a sixteen year old pitcher, Billy Baer
Had a bad habit, of breaking wind
Because of the force, he’d put on his spin

He’d raise his knee, to meet his chest
Then split the distance, with leg abreast
Stepping off, to shoot the curve,
as the ball would fire, from Billy’s nerve

Up then down, he’d send them all back
To the dugout they flew, every inning in fact
Till at last as the sky, turned dark royal blue
From out of the dugout, he came, tapping his shoe

Score was tied, with one more strike to throw
It was Allo Wishis, who succeeded a blow
Breaking the pitch, and ball with ease
Bringing the pitcher, right down to his knees

Up on the shoulders, of everyone there
Rode Allo Wishis, and Billy Baer
Three hours after, everyone had gone home
They received a call, that the ball, was a scone

Seems that the bakers son, went home to eat
Taking his ball, and leaving the treat
But that didn’t matter, a ball or a tart
They play again tomorrow, well, at least until dark

Wild Flower

Blossoms/Grows out in the wilderness ,in
the dark ,towards the light,
its beauty knows no limits and the frangrance enchanting.
Deep rooted ,strong yet so light and envigorting
and its hue changes as a ray of sun,
from dawn to dusk.
Holds all the colours and yet is colourless.
Is guarded/surrounded by giant serpents,
spewing venom when angered.
Tried their luck to tame and control serpents,
few succeeded and rest fell in their trap.
Word spread across as most unattainable,
many battles and wars, some got scars
some pain and others succumbed to it.
Wild flower, gives the strength to move a mountain,
depth of an ocean.
like from a lump of clay,it moulds to
a shape which one wishes to be.
The nectar of this wild flower is sweet, sour
and bitter, just how one tastes it.
when it fully blossoms, the fragrance is everywhere,
soothing the senses.
Makes one immortal,liberating the soul,
showing the wings to fly and soar high.

Premium Member Six Brothers In Harmony

Every one of my five brothers
and I strive to create harmony.
Our lives are lived in parallel
yet at times we work alone.
Other times we play well together -
unity and coexistence is our goal.

A chord can bring us together
into a rich and soulful harmony.
We often seek concord in parallel
so no one is left alone;
expressive music is our end goal,
a desire shared by six brothers.

Django Reinhardt, who often played alone,
had mastery over all us brothers,
as do Los Romeros playing together,
creating a family of classical harmony.
Andrés Segovia with his ambitious goal,
worked with composer Rodrigo in parallel.

Great rock guitarists with their goal
of playing fantastic music in parallel:
Lennon, McCartney, and Harrison playing together;
the Eagles soaring in amazing harmony;
Clapton; Jimmy Page; the Allman Brothers;
or Hendrix playing incendiary solos alone.

Bring your friends, sisters and brothers
to a concert - don't come alone!
You'll meet people who have parallel
interests to your own. Dance together
as music plays. Our common goal
should be brotherhood and world harmony!

Each string of a guitar, alone
can make a melody. But harmony
exists only by functioning in parallel,
cooperatively. Let this be our goal:
for human beings to work together,
recognizing that we are all brothers.

My brothers and I aren't alone.
In parallel lives, our main goal
is to work together, making harmony.

[Sestina]

// A sestina is a non-rhyming poem consisting of six six-line stanzas and a three-line envoy. The last word of each line in stanza 1 is repeated in all of the following stanzas. The envoy contains all six repeating words. To emphasize the theme of "Six Relatives", I have also made each line exactly 6 words. Additionally, I began stanzas 1-6 with the letters of the six guitar strings: E, A, D, G, B, E. One final note: the "ambitious goal" of Andrés Segovia and Joaquín Rodrigo was to make the guitar a respected instrument in the classical repertoire. They succeeded!//
