it was a strikingly strange day! it rained pitter patter in the morning, it rained drip drop in the afternoon, but it did not rain at all in between!

ruby-red sun was up, the mellifluous birds started chirping, I felt I could rest in the warmth of magnificent sun, and watch my demure white Jasmine. it looked so elegant like a ravishing bride, waiting with beating heart for her beloved to arrive. pretty bridesmaids were the frolicking tulips in gorgeous red and yellow outfit.

it was a strange day, but it was a perfect day with the full-throated robins crooning a magical sonata, the fresh rain-showered green lawn to tread, as soft as blushing petals of rose. I am sure my graceful Jasmine felt she had nothing more to ask for!

Strikingly Naked
                By Odin Roark

Voicing the reflection one sees insures
the facade really is,
was,
must have been.

Time passes…

How smoky the reflection,
this aging identity of accumulated distortion,
where once perception played innocently,
found disguises to hide behind,
who now past the age of innocence,
sees the exposed abyss of shadowed deceptions.

Such awareness knows well the mirror,
where cognizance of the make-believe
beckons the right light,
the flattering shade,
the required eye-sparkle of denial,
no matter the reality.

At some point…

Behind the rehearsed and performed persona,
we raise the inner window
revealing the self-of-fact,
that place where we gulp
what air is left,
sucking up any reserved willingness
blowing in from subterranean shores
to help beat back our self-imposed exile.

One surges forward…

Pulls open the only door
the entrance we feared opening,
an opening your inner monologue
always whispered was there
but you chose to remain imprisoned
by the mirror.

Revelation…

The door now open,
leads to other doors,
so small they seem
as you bend, crawl,
find other rooms,
windowless cubbyholes,
where night sweats
and endless reprieves
once kept you breathing,
albeit your own recycled dead air.

How rewarding…

To see for the first time,
your own recidivist delusions
reverberating like shattered emulations,
blinding your eyes with its refractive light,
burning through regrettable behavior imprisoned,
where no steel bars were ever necessary,
where a place of truth awaited,
a wilderness you are finally ready to explore.

Such is the manifest moment…

When you couldn't be so strikingly naked,
had you not kept yourself so carefully dressed
all those years.

A butterfly shucks its chrysalis shell:
thus, its metamorphosis is complete.
And transformed as if by a magic spell:
a caterpillar has joined the elite.

Flaunting pigments beyond an artist's brush,
vivid color choices intensify.
For when it comes to art that makes you gush,
Nature's masterpieces all qualify.

A splendiferous, shimmering specter:
a butterfly flexes bright neon wings.
And as I watch it sip drops of nectar:
it tops the list of my favorite things.

Boasting patterns that are strikingly bold:
butterflies are a beauty to behold.

Strikingly Crafty Logomaniac Presents

Strikingly crafty logomaniac presents...
what else... his trademark blatherskite!

While sprawled comfortably
numb upon davenport
Iowa daily dose of poetic mishmash,
thus yours truly couches, kneads, sports...
his imponderable matted
swiftly styled balderdash
noah intent to kindle
potential ark enemy, nor abash

please pardon your
garden variety philologos,
preparing himself for backlash
he spouts nonsense words
with chutzpah and brash
his logorrhea affliction begets
meaningless rot i.e. namely ishkabibble,
where scapegoated test dummies crash

inscrutably, dumbly, busily blankly
boxing, blinking, batting... eyelash
hijacking, flouting, disregarding... covenant,
not causing corpus callosum damage
basically self made edict equals hogwash,
within one North American banana republic
predicated upon fiat gnash
trumpets blatantly non subliminal,

subordinate, subtle... ho hum
messages cuz bosh to liberty we smash
with most popular refrain
"send her/him back" cash
hearing purported dispensable
deportee with swash-
buck killing bravado
marquee, where klieg lights
blindingly broadcast in a flash.

"FAKE" mania loosed doth stall
refugees, where desperation witnesses
land of milk and honey,
perhaps some heading to Broomall,
who if necessary crawl
escaping forced sex trafficking poverty,
persecution, violence... downfall,
viz puppet government

tricked out noble (no bull) border wall
configured as demilitarized zone
hostilility spewing noxious,
poisonous, venomous gall
courtesy commander in chief
who essentially hoops to forestall
his impeachment proceedings
bristling, ranting, scathing... twitter feeds

spewing bosh raining hatred filled squall
spouting jingoistic rhetoric
atop anointed hall
of the mountain king
eerily similar to Taj Mahal
firing expletive epithets

assenting military mandating withdrawal
loosing vicious police and/or junkyard dogs
declaring no exemption against marshall
law innocence absolute zero guard
as sharp teeth nsync with flesh maul
cue hideous sinister laughter
welcome to danse macabre ball!
