Best Stratospheric Poems

Painted ponies
across the plains;
splashes of color
against an azure sky;
an equine convention
in the clouds.

Stratospheric
abstracts meet
with colors to produce
ecstatic paintings.

Nature’s canvas
is everywhere and
She paints life
with vigorous
enthusiasm.

Premium Member The Art of Sky Bow

A sky-bow
pastel light rays,
pigmented by clouds;
a canvas of light.

Gradient echoes filtering
from stratospheric crystal;
embracing curvature,
terra-forma.

Polychrome lamp
riding world’s edge
to infinity’s lair;
ascending...descending,
half moon crest.

A lemon-cherry,
orange and grape
smoothie, blending
in the heavens.

My soul bleeds into
passion pinks
elation oranges
pulling me up to
highest heights
of tranquility.

We meld...

Staring into the stratospheric abyss
Cumulus clouds swiftly drift along.
As I stand at a dusty precipice,
The white-hot heat of the sun beating down,
Microscopic gravel crunches beneath questioning feet.

A flood of overwhelming emotions washes forth,
Whilst a broken heart is drowning.
The last words you spat at me, stuck on repeat,
Play like a needle scratching a broken record.
Cupping my ears, I try to shut out the incessant noise,
But it just ricochets like emotional shrapnel,
Piercing into my tormented psyche.

Reliving the vital few seconds of a scene gone so wrong—
Have we somehow traveled past the event horizon,
Becoming an implosion of complete annihilation?
As the wind whips past, sending ripples through the air,
I frantically search the debris for answers.

Grasping at particles of dust—
Invisible atoms of desperation.
But they're unattainable.
It is to be our downfall,
Just as a resolution to this inquest
Disappears with the sun
As it wanes over the mourning horizon.

Premium Member Phony

A wet coin on the mall floor
of sanity's foolish hope

Lies next to others
thrown away by desperate measures
with limited dreams

As they sip on frappucinos;
non-fat coated sin.

Their broken backs
walking with stolen canes
off broke back mountains;
in God we doubt

Another exodus with no occupational hazards,
just dramatizations of puncturing joy on tongue

Torment cry the cries of soliloquy lunacy

Lunar eclipse of the heart;
crater meltdowns into stratospheric limitations

Libation,
poured into impurity perfection

Hollowed certainty,
sharp tongued cryptic verbiage
not claiming emotion

The crippled, run
their mouth

Silent conundrums
running towards field of dreams,
they never came

Faking it
to make it

Once again

As Materialism Radiates

the choking beat of conformity
coagulates internment in the minds
of fascist marches measuring time
shoving tubes filled with dictates
down the gullet of my spirit
wishing to be at least severed
from the instance of alignment
inherent in the laughing dream
which destroys ambitions of rain
-bows arching toward constellations
(a distorted and twisted version of the uni
-verse is still wavering alternative…

…dimensions into the crevice of an animal
eyeing and praying for nothing save rain
and prey to be plentiful despite their screams…)

must keeps the string extending
into nuclear holocaustic burns freezing
specters of old films dissolving
bubbles of arteries swelling grand
-father gasping at the why dangling
in the sky…stratospheric metaphors

…and off-key colors spill like incense
into the flame of creation harkening
dances of concubines combining
their hair like an enigma

lost in the tip of a hum
life splits the secret of the tongue
a hue reflecting djinns of you

releases peace in a white explosion
swimming a thousand curses in sand
blinding in the storm of suffering
until the palliating confusion tears
and the witnesses remain in the caesarian
-section of divided moons of elliptical doubt
orbiting the cloud of world-leaders
scratching the chin of sin smirking…

Premium Member Whispering Truths

As the turbulent determinations
          of everyday vigor

bellow through stratospheric circumstances
          dancing amongst the clouds

you calculate life's extravagances
          twisting beyond hierarchies

as leaf covered branches
          twitter in space.

Gusts of wind orchestrate
          like synchronizing ballerinas

flowing within music
          strumming delicate harmonies

on roads less traveled
          pecking at your brain

into rebel territory
          determined to stem irrelevant

while you savor circumstantial
          realities beyond comprehension.

Masquerading through conventions
          you enjoy the day's delicacies.

Beautiful Fall day
early December
Temp in 50's
Sun shining bright

Pondering mysteries of life,
romantic relationships---
Daily excursions for salvation
relieve stress, temptations.

Questions in perpetuity
shellac existential driftings
wondering should you follow
your heart or head?

Tumultuous circumstances
elevate biorhythms to
stratospheric levels
as you mellow out

with revelations of Mind Essence
that transcend dreams
masquerading as realities
stumbling through time.

Full Moon, Too Soon It's Morning

our august night,
that feeling as we watch
clouds moving in high winds,
their stratospheric soft shoe,
I ask if you think
angels painted each cloud,
and blow with pursed lips
cool midnight breezes,
as if we've been granted god's parole
from the sun's summer heat,
asleep but waiting for morn,
dormant in the still warm concrete,
you smile like a cat in shadows,
forgiving me for waking you,
stolen from rainbow dreams,
as you turn to watch each distant star
appear as clouds dance away,
I say the moon turns a key,
and the zodiac opens,
you laugh and point at angry mars,
alive winking like fire,
your little gasps as finally we see,
the horizon's honored guest,
blazing through pine tops,
like a pharos finally sighted
sailing a crepuscular sea,
you clasp me close,
in hushed awe and pajamas,
eyes reflected in lunar hues,
as the heaven's white lady
shines her frozen expression,
singing one note forever,
and all I can think,
is that the story really is true,
I don't love you to the moon,
that's too near of an orbit,
if my heart could take me
to the farthest reaches of space,
I would ride there on moonbeams,
and catch dust from a comet's tail,
slide back to earth
on fiery meteor showers
just to see the love on your face
brighter than supernovas
and as the earth finally turns
pulling over its cold velvet blanket
we’re each drawn to our beds
falling down that gravity well
to pillow dimensions
and tranquility bases…

A Meeting At the Airport

Tornado swirl of colors
Whisking, whirling, swishing by
Sounds, sounds, speaking, calling
Paging, arriving, departing to sky
Dread of funeral destinations
Fear of business meetings forced
Anticipation of new places
Dreams of new life, planned and coursed.

Then appearance of a stranger
Seeking a stranger who is friend
Meets the eyes of the camera's picture
Tornado feelings spin like wind
Arms are holding, bodies are twirling
Lips are one in wordless greet
Two souls in stratospheric wonder
When their dreams embodied meet.

Gravitation Defied

Even now, Pigeons stool surprised
     while ensconced in dovecote
whose twittering translated as coo coo not bright
asper Icarus aiming for mythic cull magic did excite
popularized notion to take winged flight

And for twenty first century mortal to wax poetic
this January 2018 bitterly, brutally day and night
Stymied sans principle
   contradicted laws of Physics
   soaring to limitless height
Away from temporal axon light

Into the infinite cosmic dendrite
Realization to soar above heavenly vault
      spectacular sight
Brainchild of anonymous genius minds
      left stratospheric legacy
     To witness awesome might
break away, sans gravity

     tacit Obeisance acknowledged
     this hundred year plus anniversary
Aero planes success got off the ground
Pardon saying may come across as trite
More than a century elapsed
since machines first attempt to remain aloft
Man made invention glittered silvery white

Beauty, grace and poetry in motion
     excises Luddite trace
     Despite countless fatal crashes
Tragedy to those loved ones lost in fiery plight
Invisible ethereal essences dwell
     and hover some place
     Occupy a netherworld housed
   with fellow nymph and sprite

Return to Earth to deliver miracles
   and prevent near disasters
Although many a skeptic
may ascribe phenomena to luck despite
Angelic visage impossible to dispute quite.

Requiem For a Lost Specimen of Poesy

Into what wisp of cloud or clod did my poem flee?
Into what minuscular pinch of diaphanous, free-floating empyreal, stratospheric air did my figurative furled parchment disappear?
Where are those poignant yet comic, yet weird and allusive and furtive and outrageous and oddly touching and haunting and charming and outlandish and wonderfully lame words that I wrote?
Why did I not, as I wilt with this, assay to make some few or sundry copies of them?
Why did not my cursor flick and flit over them, and my highlighter underscore and envelop them in its oddly circumvallatory way?
Why did I not behave upon these things, to actuate them, to do my bidding-
The only way I might have safeguarded and given due survival to these, my "children"? Children of an oddly misshapen, half-formed sort, but lovable all the same: Loved with the authorial yet kindly and parental love of the writer,
The poet, the author...
They are missing, they are gone-and who but I, in my callow, thoughtless reckless irresponsibility; who but I mourns them?
I, who unwittingly made their death happen?
(Yet, 'twasn't another, other than me, another agency, also blameworthy and complicit in these "deaths" and disappearances? In these inverse deletions and erasures? Wasn't some draconian governing body passing equally draconian and abstruse, unknown and unknowable, laws...were they not also to blame?
Where is the justice and the mercy and the forgiveness and the pity for the ignorant? For, in this case, myself? I, who almost was a victim, myself?)

Starry Eyed Fame

Many in the limelight aim
Despite diverse back rounds they came
   Whether a regular Joe Schmoe
   or a ma dames

For stratospheric fame
   Sought after imprimatur
   like some competitive games
Possibly an ordinary Jonny comb lately
or the common Jimmy James schmuck oh
   Maybe known by some handi
   capping them as lame

Transcending unsightly infliction
   unwilling to let being maim
(This from drafted
    scarred acquiring above name)
Yet overcoming any stigma or shame

Proving that prejudice
   against bloody carnage
   can replaced with pride
against cooling jets fiery angry flame
With self-acceptance
sans love of self would tame.

upper wealthy

The Upper Wealthy

It was said that famous families
only lasts for about three generations
The Churchills, the Kennedys, and many
Others have a sale by date.
I thought of that while watching a program by
Crise Hedges, who happens to have grown up
among the stratospheric wealthy, and he
spent time trying to distance himself from
that class of people
He can't, everything about his language
manner, the smoothness of those who have
not had to strive
Cris was interviewing a man who writes
books about the rich, who, according to
him are bad for our society and economy
Clearly, the rich are different from those who have
No private plane when going shopping
They send children to the top school in a limo
They have a big household staff to keep
them in clover, and security, to be rich also
Mean someone is out to do your harm
The two men began annoying me, telling
stories about the wealthy, sounding like
a couple trying not to sound envious
