Never Alone

I see my Lords face in the scattered leaves of autumn
Hear His voice in the rustle as they move with the afternoon breeze
I feel His gentle touch in the mystic eastern winds from Santa Ana
Warm and dry are the notes through the limbs of the mighty Sycamore trees

I was lost as a man in a vessel upon an angry sea
Lonely and scared as the wind driven waves crashed upon my soul
Desperate angry thoughts passed with each swell feeling so alone
I saw my Lords face in the foam of the lifting following sea

As I walk alone on the streets through the towns upon the shore
Looking at the faces of abandoned souls aimlessly content
I am fearful and yet wise they have always had free will
I see my Lords face in the tattered clothes of the weak and frail

Blessed are my moments of sight and precious realization
He is there always and time is as dust laid neatly on the sill
My years are His seconds and my months and days His short moments
I see His face in the pure drifts of the white winter’s snow

Don't Play Funky

Standing there with your glistening hair,
miniskirt tempting all eyes around,
say you’re just going out the unwind
with you friends, hottest club in the town.
Looks can kill and I’m thinking that you
mean to draw every wandering eye,
as if you do not have a man here,
as if you’re on the hunt for a guy.

Don’t play funky with me, girl,
don’t play funky with me,
I got standards too, girl,
that how it’s gotta be.
Don’t play funky with me, girl,
don’t play funky with me,
I know what’s in a ‘girl’s night,’
tou ain’t cheatin’ on me.

Waking on down the street at your side,
we pass a man and you look away,
looks awkward and I come to realize
that both of you have something to say.
You don’t talk much of what went before,
it gets hard to learn much about you,
wearing a mask don’t make it better,
I’d rather built things up on the truth.

Don’t play funky with me, girl,
don’t play funky with me,
I got standards too, girl,
that how it’s gotta be.
Don’t play funky with me, girl,
don’t play funky with me,
everyone has got a past, girl,
so stop lyin’ to me.

You’ve always said you’re liberated,
and gonna go take charge of you life,
land a blow, make sure all the world knows,
never ‘sink’ to being a housewife.
When we pass kids you think I don’t see
the warm glow that comes into your eyes,
yet you insist you’re not into it
when you so want to give it a try.

Don’t play funky with me, girl,
don’t play funky with me,
I got standards too, girl,
that how it’s gotta be.
Don’t play funky with me, girl,
don’t play funky with me,
I know that you want children,
why not have them with me?

Don’t play funky with me, girl,
don’t play funky with me,
I got standards too, girl,
that how it’s gotta be.
Don’t play funky with me, girl,
don’t play funky with me,
we could make a good thing, girl,
if there’s some honesty.

Picture Perfect

Verse:
Nothing is going according to plan
I’m just trying to find out who I am
It’s feeling like everything I do
Is taking me further from you

Chorus:
I realize this isn’t picture perfect
I’m just doin the best that I can
I know this isn’t picture perfect
It’s never going as I planned
Wishing this was picture perfect
But I know I need to trust in you

Verse:
They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger
But im just wondering if ill be able to hold on any longer
I know I can’t do this on my own
Now Im putting my trust in God alone

Chorus:
I realize this isn’t picture perfect
I’m just doin the best that I can
I know this isn’t picture perfect
It’s never going as I planned
Wishing this was picture perfect
But I know I need to trust in you

Verse:
Even when fears of failure come
And I feel like they have won
I need to realize this isn’t my plan
And I need to step up and be a man

Chorus:
I realize this isn’t picture perfect
I’m just doin the best that I can
I know this isn’t picture perfect
It’s never going as I planned
Wishing this was picture perfect
But I know I need to trust in you

Premium Member Don'T Tell Me You Love Me

Don't tell me you love me
It's something I should never know
Please stop trying to persuade me
Just let me go
I love another who loves me true
I could never break her heart in two

Don't tell me you love me
the temptation is strong
If I kissed your sweet lips
It would be so wrong
My heart's in a good place
My love has a home
Please please pretty baby leave me alone

Don't tell me you love me
for I want to love you
Don't tell me you love me
something we can never do
Don't tell me you love me
the devils in your eyes
Just go away girl
Just go away girl
before it's too late to realize
the devil smiling in your eyes.

Everybody Stop!

If we could teach the world, one thing
it should not be, the price of string
the microwave and why it pings
the endless list, of English kings
the dynasty, of Chinese Ming
the mystery, of golden rings
the history, of Western Swing

No
absolutely none of these things
with all the distraction they would bring
if we could teach the world one thing
we need everybody to stop
we need everyone to listen and look
to hear the little bird that sings
and watch it flap its tiny wings

If we could teach the world one thing
we'll show those people how to dream
above the crazy sounds and scenes
to find all the hope and all the joy
that our imagination just might bring

If we could teach the world one thing
maybe somehow we could learn
the power of ideas, the power of ideals
with courage, decency, justice and truth
from all of those who walked before
Dorchester Labourers, Doctor King
women who did amazing things
in science, politics, literature and more
if we could teach the world one thing.

Poetry

What can we do with hearts weighed down by grief?
Let’s not spread our anger, seeking no relief.
After all, we leave this world in the end,
We leave, turning to dust, where all paths bend.

I ponder deeply.
What do I give to this fleeting life?
Why do I write poetry every day, with such strife?
It’s not a medicine sold in a pharmacy,
Yet often, poetry heals—
Poetry is the remedy!

Without poetry, what song would fill your heart?
When sorrow has engulfed the world in every part?
When a beautiful tune rises in an evening's glow,
Suddenly, your surroundings light up and grow!

It stirs honor and shame from slumber’s hold,
Noble thoughts flow like springs of pure gold.
Cradling the Earth in its rocking embrace,
For me, Poetry alone gives life its grace!

Intrustions You Sing It

Struggling through the verses
Not remembering some of
The words
Crooning the parts
Which should
Be soothed over
Keeping smooth
When words should be
In expression
Not keeping the melody
With the words
Introductions lack meaning
The sound dry
Unimpressive
Ad unclear
Maybe someone
C an mimicking you
In the background
To make your sound
More clear.
Put meaning behind
I love you
So the tenors and alto
Can answer you
Need
We let the bass
Bring in the chorus
We hear you
Anticipate the
Choruses drawing near

Love's Pure Light

“Silent night, holy night,
Son of God, love’s pure light
Radiance beams from Thy holy face
with the dawn of redeeming grace.”
Joseph Mohr 1816

People of all nations have sung these words
for around some two hundred years.
Light reveals truth for both scholars and nerds,
for everyone who face their fears,
for one who quits grinding his gears,
for someone who shares secret tears.

Light shines on darkness exposing the truth,
showing us what needs to be changed
in actions that are selfish and uncouth.
God has a plan He had arranged
     when man’s senses became deranged,
     when arguments left us estranged.

Father God sent Christ to earth to be born;
redeeming grace lit up the skies;
beams of forgiveness flashed that Christmas morn.
Though His birth required His demise,
His blood was the just compromise,
and three days later, He would rise.

When we repent of making bad choices
we pray to God, whom we believe
will pardon our sins. Jesus rejoices
that His grace redeems what we grieve,
His blood sacrifice - our reprieve,
and His pure light we will receive.
