And here is one of the Great Voices in The History of American Popular Music to Amplify
that Thought...

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Mr. Nat King Cole.

LOVE ( Sung to the tune LOVE by Nat King Cole.)

L is for the LIFE you lead each day.
O is OFTEN for the words you say.
V is VERVE that you bring to the or-din-ary
E is EFFERVESCENCE- summing up your special story. and...

LOVE is something that is truly you.
LOVE is something that is warm and new.
LOVE will test-i-fy
that what you have, I can't deny
that LOVE resides right there in YOU.

L is for the LIGHT that burns in you.
O says OR-DIN-ARY words won't do.
V is for the VOICE that speaks in poetry
E is ELEGANCE in how you craft each word to be. and..

LOVE is something that resides in you.
LOVE is constantly so warm and new.
LOVE will cert-i-fy
that what you have, no one can buy
for LOVE is simply, truly YOU. ( All right, boys, hit it, yeah...)

L is LESSONS that you teach to me.
O is OFTEN what you let me see.
V are VIRTUES that I can't begin listing here.
E is ELAN that I can't resist, so let's be clear. that...

LOVE is just the word to say to you.
LOVE describes the way we think of you.
LOVE will ver-i-fy
that what you have, I can't deny, yes,
LOVE resides right there in YOU.
LOVE resides right there in YOU. ( one more time.)
LOVE resides right there in YOU!

If Only I (Song)

The end was growing closer
I could feel it all around
Before you said it's over
from all the times I let you down
As I lie beside your pillow
It's getting hard to sleep at night
Every single lonely tear knows
That I did not love you right

If only I,
Could turn back time
with the words of a rhyme,
I'd be someone instead of me,
I'd show you something new to see,
Girl I need you in my life,

If only I,
Could live when you were mine,
And learn to let love shine,
I'd show your heart a better me
And be someone instead of me,
To keep you in my life,
If only I....

The last thing that you told me,
Before you walked out of the door,
Baby you never hold me,
How can I make you love me more,
I wish I would have listened
To the thing you tried to say
If I would have paid attention
Maybe then you would have stayed,

If only I,
Could turn back time
with the words of a rhyme,
I'd be someone instead of me,
I'd show you something new to see,
Girl I need you in my life,

If only I,
Could live when you were mine,
And learn to let love shine,
I'd show your heart a better me
And be someone instead of me,
To keep you in my life,

If only I, could have been
what you needed,
Since I hurt you,
our love's bleeding,
Out of time
and out of sight,
If only I could
make this right...

If only I,
Could turn back time,
when you were still mine,
I'd be everything that you need,
And give your heart a better me,
I miss you in my life...
If only I...

Deja Vu (Song)

I gave you all of me,
Your wants became too much,
And all of my somethings
You saw as not enough,
But now you are wanting,
Everything you passed up,
Your lies are frustrating,
But still I can't pass up,

This pain, this place,
Is looking too familiar to me,
The same mistakes
Are coming back around,
Your games, your face,
Are secretly whispering to me,
I can't escape,
Because emotions tear me down,

Hold on, hold on,
Tell me what I'm running into,
Stay gone, stay gone,
Is what I want to do,
So long, so long,
Why can't I say these words to you,
When I know, I know,
This will be Deja Vu

As I am anticipating
Loving you and no one else
My entire body's shaking,
Because I promised myself,
That I would never be back here,
A toy sitting on your shelf,
We always begin in last gear,
By later, there's nothing left...

This pain, this place,
Is looking too familiar to me,
The same mistakes
Are coming back around,
Your games, your face,
Are secretly whispering to me,
I can't escape,
Because emotions tear me down,

Hold on, hold on,
Tell me what I'm running into,
Stay gone, stay gone,
Is what I want to do,
So long, so long,
Why can't I say these words to you,
When I know, I know,
This will be Deja Vu

Why am I
Addicted to you,
Saying goodbye
never comes true,
This is what
it always comes to,
You constantly on my mind!

Why must I
stay thinking of you
Coming back
Thinking I love you
Losing control
when I touch you,
Wasting all of my time...

This pain, this place,
Is secretly whispering to me
Your games, your face,
Are looking too familiar to me,
The same mistakes
Emotions seem to tear me down,
I can't escape
It's coming back around,

Hold on, hold on,
is all I ever do for you,
Stay gone, stay gone,
I do and don't want you to do,
I love you, I hate you,
Everything I say is true,
I hate you, I love you...
This is our Deja vu....

Blood of a Liar, Mark of a Thief

You took it all
(I held my breath)
You screamed my name
(as you fell to your death)
The crowed gathered round
but I stood tall
with your body laying so broken
you've never looked so small

The rain started pouring down
(oh how I smiled)
There were sirens in the distance
(only a half a mile)
Down below the screaming sounds
I can't hear a thing
everyone's gaze is upon me
waiting for the once caged bird to sing

(Liar)
You promised me everything
did your words mean nothing
were they empty
lifeless without a theme
(Thief)
You took hold of my heart
shredded my soul, raped my mind
did it mean anything
was I even worth it
ir just another part to your scheme

The rain washes away the evidence
(the blood, sweat, and tears)
But rain can't wash away everythng
(no, not everything)
not the pain suffered through the years

Your words were so sweet
who was I to judge
I fell for your parlor tricks
over the edge with one small nudge
Such a beautiful disguise you wore
silly little me
I fell into your web of lies
far too young to ever see

(Liar)
You promised me everything
did your words mean nothing
were they empty
lifeless without a theme
(Thief)
You took hold of my heart
shredded my soul, raped my mind
did it mean anything
was I even worth it
ir just another part to your scheme

You could have been mine
(does it hurt now, hush, be quiet now)
You sold your soul for a good time
(does it hurt now, hush, don't speak now)
Did you think I'd never know?
(does it hurt now, does it hurt now)
Now you must reap the crop you've sewn

(Liar)
You promised me everything
did your words mean nothing
were they empty
lifeless without a theme
(Thief)
You took hold of my heart
shredded my soul, raped my mind
did it mean anything
was I even worth it
ir just another part to your scheme

(Liar)
You had such a pretty little plan
(Thief)
Carried out by such a careless little man

Your Tears

Honey I see you got lost,
Walking around in old memories.
Were they the ones of you and me?
I know we still have all those hopes and dreams.
I know sometimes life is hard to handle,
So many thoughts come to your mind and are racing.
When you look through the darkness still I’m here as your candle,
Just walk towards me and quit pacing.
Sometimes we all stumble and fall,
Like a blanket we can be surrounded by fear.
There is no shame in asking for help at all,
Just let me help you dry your tears.

They fell like rain from the sky,
All your tears I saw falling.
There’s no way I could just walk by,
I heard your heart desperately calling.
I see in your face the pain that you feel,
I have the words for you I want to say.
Just know I see your hurt that’s so real,
Baby even angels have a bad day.

My love remember us walking hand in hand,
Through beautiful forests so alive and green.
A stolen kiss in a quiet moment so grand,
Nothing’s changed in my heart all is still so serene.
Let me kiss those tears from your eyes,
I will always be here for you.
There are always bound to be arguments and fights,
True love always forgives as we always do.
With each other we can heal our hearts,
No need to walk through a trail of tears.
Our love could never be torn apart,
Only those tears will ever disappear.

Premium Member His Last Love Song

His wife left him in intensive care
After saying her last good-bye
She just couldn’t stay with him in there
For the moment he would die

They were married for over thirty years
He wrote lyrics for love songs
Words that would bring women to tears
To a beat you can sing along

Her best friend sat with him instead
So he wouldn’t have to die all alone
She leaned down and whispered near his head
“Please write for me a last love song”

“Write for me a love song, before you pass away
Your soul may go to heaven, but your words right here can stay
Write as if the romance we did not share, was a part of our life
I wasn’t burdened by matrimonial cares and you did not love your wife”

They were lovers in thought alone
Never unfaithful to their spouse
Often in each other’s home
But never alone within the house

She always thought his songs were written
With thoughts of her in mind
Especially those about lovers smitten
The Romeo and Juliet kind

Though they never spoke to each other of love
She could see it in his eyes
She wondered what he was thinking of
And what he felt deep down inside

“Write for me a love song, before you pass away
Your soul may go to heaven, but your words right here can stay
Write as if the romance we did not share, was a part of our life
I wasn’t burdened by matrimonial cares and you did not love your wife”

He died later that night
Without ever waking again
With the only one in sight
His wife’s very best friend

She shed a tear for the loss
Of a friend and fantasy
Pleading on his death bed
“Please write a last love song for me”

She reached inside her pocketbook
For a Kleenex to wipe her eyes
And found a piece of paper
Much to her surprise

Written in his handwriting
Was a note of just fourteen words
“There is an unsung love song in my desk,
Your request I have heard”

“Write for me a love song, before you pass away
Your soul may go to heaven, but your words right here can stay
Write as if the romance we did not share, was a part of our life
I wasn’t burdened by matrimonial cares and you did not love your wife”

Ode To Jennifer Nettles

Wow it seems just like yesterday
I sat there watching the CMA
The rest is history what can I say
An angel sang “Why don’t you stay”

She was raw and raucous as I ever heard
But all leaned forward to hear her words
She held us in her reaching palm
And she exploded like an atom bomb

Jennifer, Jennifer won’t you sing for me
I’ll write you a song like none could ever be
I know you write the words you sing
And you really don’t need my fling

However I am just an old man with a silly dream
You can make it happen… or so it really seems
You should hear my words coming from up above
Like the ones sent me about the “Garden of Love”

I think you would find it really very prime
However Steve Earle didn’t write it, it is mine
And I am already married my kids are quite tall
Also when it rains I often slip and fall

If nothing else I hope this gives you a smile
Stranger things have happened
You know every once in a while
It doesn’t hurt to dream, not by a country mile.

So Jennifer, Jennifer consider an old man’s plea
What the heck it can’t hurt to talk a while with me
It might even climb all the way to number one
Let the world hear the Garden of love, basking in your sun

Wow it seems just like yesterday
I sat there watching the CMA
The rest is history what can I say
An angel sang “Why don’t you stay”

Cleaning Up

I reach out to the skies of blue
To stay there for the rest of time
My lies have always seemed so true
Constructed life to perfect crime

Right now
I forget which part I play
I loose control of what I say
Right now
My spirit seems to drift away
And all my actions look so gay

I run through fields of doors
Lost
With millions of keys right in my pocket,
I find no lock, even with force
The doors all stay completely blocked

And thoughts fall down into my head
As I lie crying in my bed
Right now
I think of what I have had
And see what I have lost instead

I dig myself into the earth
To stay there ‘till the end of days
I still regret my day of birth
And spoiled my life in many ways

The sun is shining through my eyes
I give no sh** ‘bout all these lies
My deepest passions start to rise
And fight until apathy dies

- But words still blow -

And can’t you see
that we’re just trying
to be
not what we seem
to be

The decay starts in our heads
Our body takes more time to go
The conflict starts in our heads
Our body takes more time to know

- But words still blow -

My Every Day

Tell me could you feel the danger in the air,
Could you feel its mist upon your skin?
I tried to put it all back into perspective,
Old demons come back to visit me every now and again.
I don’t want to be labelled that I’m anything special,
Things like that don’t interest me at all.
I know you understand what makes me, who I am,
That I always get back up when I take a fall.

I don’t know how you have the strength to stay.
When my words and thoughts sometimes fall away.
What you see in me I just can’t place.
Your love is always right there, and I’m always amazed.
Did you know that your everything in life that I got.
Giving my heart up so easily is something I was never taught.
Honey you’re all my strength,
Baby you’re my every day.

I once told you that I wasn’t the man you were searching for,
Like the one from a story book fable.
With frustration I tried to tell you so many times,
Until I seen our tears mix together on the table.
I realized then you knew I would work my hands to the bone,
It wouldn’t matter if it was my last breath.
Commercial things never mattered it was love that filled our home,
A love and strength to continue long surpassing death.

I don’t know how you have the strength to stay.
When my words and thoughts sometimes fall away.
What you see in me I just can’t place.
Your love is always right there, and I’m always amazed.
Did you know that you everything in life that I got.
Giving my heart up so easily is something I was never taught.
Honey you’re all my strength,
Baby you’re my every day.

Hidden!

Pathetic and over-reaching
listen to what you're preaching
tearing at me with words so cold
warm tears over phony love put on hold

Why should I go and change;
why must I be the one to re-range?
I'm really not insane,
I think there's just a problem in my brain

All night staring at the wall
the door, the ceiling...
that startling sensation
as I drift to sleep...and fall

Pride in words that are held down
tied to the wall and floor
I'd hold your hand and hug you
if I had something to hug you for

I'm really not insane,
I've never felt that pain...
never went down with the ship
what would I have to gain?

Please take another look...
I'd tell you if I could
but you wouldn't hear me would you?
I'm good at what I do...
I'm good at hiding from you

After Life

1st VERSE:
Where would you go
if you could leave this place?
What would you see
who would you meet
If you could leave
then come back to these streets

What words would you use
to describe where you’ve been?
From where you stood
could you see the world spin

Could you watch us walk around
Our feet stuck to the ground
Could you hear the words we said
When our hearts filled with dread
Thinking you’ve moved on
To sing another song
In another universe
Leaving behind a curse

CHORUS:
After death
After life
What we hope is Paradise
Just might be our memories
Left for everyone to see
All to know the truth
Every action has a purpose
Even if buried beneath the surface

Wishing you’d come back to me
I did what you asked
I set you free
Didn’t know you would fly
So far up in the sky

2nd VERSE:
If you came back
Claiming the spot you left
How would it feel
To take your seat
Where you belong
As you did all along

Which world would you choose
Or would you stay between
Stuck in a space
Unable to be seen

Could you see us over here
If you can is it clear
Could you feel our pain inside
When we found out you died
Thinking life would end
We lost another friend
To the opposite of life
Pain still cuts like a knife

Waiting For the Dawn

Ever since you left our town I feel there’s no one I can trust
I didn’t want you to leave, but I’ll try to let you go if I must
I wonder how it could’ve been for us; I could’ve been the one
I wanted to find out, but now it’s too late-you’re already gone
I wish I could’ve told you how I felt when I told you goodbye

But instead I watched from the window as you left, about to cry
And now every single time I close my eyes, you’re all that I can see
And when I look at your photo my heart stops and I can’t breathe
You could’ve worked it out, you could’ve stayed if you’d wanted too
Late at night I wonder if I could’ve stopped you if only I knew

Why did you have to leave? Why did you have to go?
I was hurting on the inside, but somehow I didn’t let it show
Why did you have to go? Why did you have to leave?
Would you have stayed if I had begged with a ‘please’
You never were the type to stay somewhere for too long

And until we meet again this is gonna be your never ending song
I still don’t know if I can ever heal from a heartbreak just like this
Because for me just being near you everyday was pure bliss
You’re just like the others in my life, you come and then you’re gone
Every night I go to bed with tears for you, just waiting for the dawn

I should’ve told you I loved you from the very first day we met
But when I tried to tell you it was like my words got caught in a net
I never will forget your face, it’s in my heart, it can’t be erased
Everything reminds me of you, no matter where I go, every single place
I never will forget the special way you looked at me that one day

But I was so shy, I couldn’t even form the words to say, ‘Hey’
I hope one day that I’ll cross your mind and you’ll look back and smile
While you reminisce of me and all the good time we had for a while
I really hope you don’t forget to remember me and all the fun we had
And if you ever felt the same way about me, please don’t be sad

Even if I go for an eternity without seeing your face again
My love for you is never gonna die, it’s never gonna end
Sometimes I can’t help but wonder: will I ever see you again?
Will you come back to me one day, or is this really the end?

Precious Carolyn my old friend
I am God come talk to you again
Because a prayer you were praying
left a seed while you were seeking
And your request that was planted
     in the name
               still remains
Within the bounds your
                            solace
                       2
In restless dreams you,
     walk along
Narrow street of
     sacred stone
Neath a halo for a meek,
     child
Need turn your collar to the,
     cold of scold
When your mind be
     stabbed by harsh of
           wicked night
                 that splits your might
                       and touch your soul in
                                solace
                      3
For in the wicked world I
      see
Your thousand rivals
      maybe more
People talking without speaking
      people hearing without listening
People writing poems
      that wisdom never shared
No minds dared
                 disturb the round of
                                 violence
                       4
LOVE, say I they do not,
                            know
Violence wills it’s cancer
                            grows
Hear my words that I,
     might teach you
Take my love that I might
      reach far
But on deaf ears my words,
      millstone falls
             and echoed
In swells of
             violence
                       5
As the wicked bow and sway
to the illusions hands have made
Agape signs flash it’s warning………………………..AA-G-Pay
in the words that it keeps forming
Agape said ‘the words of the prophets
are written in each sacred heart
At the beginning of it all
and whispers in the sounds of sol

Vessels

Though the crease begins to crumble
These old pages still run blue
Currents pulse beneath the surface
Pen-leaked ink that bled your truths
Pen-spun words that writhe like veins
Under skin and paper skies
Cold to touch, crept through your core
Settled clear in frozen eyes

So I’ll read you like a book
And I’ll write you pretty lies
Just to fill the empty space
That’s revealed between the lines
Won’t you move a little closer?
Let it spill into your ear
The tide of breath that harboured
All the words you want to hear

Well I tried to kiss it better
Blood and bones to fuse the cleft
Bruised and broken, lips split open
From the effort, nothing’s left
So you say that I’m a sinner
Preach of hearts and ribs and fists
Well I may have made the plunge
But you revelled in the twist

Now you’re tearing at your wounds
Sanctimonious with pain
Because it helps you ‘hear the music’
Yeah, it helps you play the game
If I pour a little salt
Will you smear it in your eyes?
Feel its grain twist round your lids
As you soliloquise

About the blame you tried to forge
All the nights you wept and claimed
‘You can’t comprehend the world
Balanced firm between these blades’
No one told you it’s a lie
And the story really goes
Constellations, superstitions
Are that Ancient’s only load

All the pretty rhymes and perfect crimes
You try to hide behind
Well they just serve to remind me
How you once spoke those old lines –
‘Your tongue is as a rudder
Guiding vessels safe through storms
Moving mountains with inflections
Making ripples in reflections
Hollowed hull meets hallowed shores’
