Best Smiting Poems
Wont you find me here?
Drifting in an expanse of swirling storm
Outstreched fingers graze debris...
recklessly circling reminders.
Stand in the eye with me
Hold
This
Ground.
Lick our wounds rebounding
Warriors victoriously smiting circumstance
leaving wolves discouraged
disparaging darkness with insane glee
Walk here and find me
Reach out think here
You create me and I construct you
Piece me in missing places
Mending voids delicate and knowing
I slay inherited growths of insecurity
Stating truths untold to your beautiful ears
Combine
Know this warmth....
Let these branches sprawl
grow in all directions to withstand walls closing in
A grand old tree would remain...generations of our eyes
taking glance from limbs strong and true
You crush my cycle--end it's existence
I'll destroy your boundary...kill it's constriction
Our tower stronger and rooted
Yet with loftier cloud grazing height
lets disorient ourselves in this foreign altitude
Touch this sky with me
In the smiting chill of a dreadful wintry night
When through every fiber n’ nerve, was the cold bite,
I was sitting cocooned beside my hearth,
Sipping a cup of steaming tea of my choicest blend.
Suddenly my attention was caught by something moving,
Through my window I saw a shadowy figure.
But who would dare to be out on such a night?
It was a night when winter slumber suddenly had grown,
Into a blizzard with blinding snow and hail flooding
When the land lay blanketed under snow’s strangulating clutch
When leafless trees stood motionless like spectral shadows
When animals stayed in their boroughs or dens in hibernation
But what I thought I had seen earlier
Was not a whim or a figment of my imagination.
I clearly saw someone walking, moving slowly or stealthily.
It disturbed me and I wanted to know who he was.
Unlikely to be a robber or a rogue with some sinister intent.
Could be a man who lost his way and needed urgent help.
Impelled by an irresistible urge to find out who he was,
I plunged myself into the sea of snow holding on to faith.
Faint moon light was shimmering between dancing snowflakes.
Not quite sure if I would find an enemy or a friend,
I walked on, pledging I would face what might come.
As I moved closer to that tottering figure
I realized he was someone half frozen in snow,
Desperately trying to get back home,
And I was on a divine mission to be the hands of God,
To direct a waylaid traveler back home,
And save a helpless soul from being frozen to death.
I don’t know what happened to that man beyond that night,
But am sure, he has survived many more winters,
And would be thankful to God for the providential help,
That saved his drowning life on such a fateful wintry night.
Now when I think of it, I feel even a bleak winter day,
Can be made bright by the power of kindness that we show.
It is the concern and preparedness to help someone in trouble,
That ignites our hearts with a divine spark and helps us connect.
Long ago Man soaked alters in blood,
while sacrificing animals to God.
And ever since Noah and the flood
plows got hammered into sword and rod.
Civilizations grew and flowered,
only to vanish with little trace.
And men of peace were labeled coward,
while women were chattel, kept in place.
God was always at war with Mankind,
smiting pagans with His Holy wrath.
And a compromise was hard to find,
there was no hope for a peaceful path.
Jesus didn't think of God that way,
wanting to remove hate from His faith.
And preaching love, taught us how to pray
purging souls of unclean thoughts and wraith.
He challenged what the people got taught
and they demanded blood for His love.
And crucified Him, yet His death bought
us eternal life, through God above.
He was mourned and laid out in a cave,
where for three days, He suffered in hell.
And then He arose, and left that grave,
sought His apostles and bid them tell.
God The Father now lives in our heart,
and blood’s no longer offered to Him.
For through His Son, Man got a new start
and our fate no longer looks so grim.
I'm a firm believer
In limerick fever
(This isn't news)
"It'll cure the blues!"
Says Jan (who is no deceiver)
Written by Jan Allison:
Writing limericks is a fine art
Yes I write about poop or a fart
But show me someone
Whose not dropped a ‘bomb’
then from poetry soup I’d depart!
Written by Lim'rik Flats:
Does art mimic life or life mimic art?
Don't ask me, I'm not too smart.
It seems the soup
Has the same poop
As watching the news (or a fart).
Drama and trauma, factions and foes,
Smiting and fighting, (hard on the nose),
Saves me the trouble
Of viewing double
Saves time, and less grief I suppose.
Written by Ray Gridley:
Raise a toast to this collaboration
Whatever your race or your nation
Just write on a whim
Lim'rick Flat's bound to grin
They are all going to be a sensation!
Written by Daniel Turner:
I know a guy called Lim'rick Flats
Writes limericks at the drop of a hat
Jan is his pal
She's quite a gal
They met in a laundry mat
Jan makes jokes about poop
he puts them in alphabet soop
drinks from the bowl
with no self control
which makes him a nincompoop
Also written by Daniel Turner:
Write all the limericks you want
but don't fart in a restaurant
people will laugh
call you riffraff
even if you're a debutante
Written by John Lawless:
oh the limerick it ain’t quite a sonnet
and the learned, they look down upon it
for they cannot grasp
its head or its ass
nor the cleansing effect of its tonic
Written by Terry Reeves:
Late for work she flew out the door
Took an express elevator to the 29th floor
Let some discreet killer farts
Nearly stopped all their hearts
Left them gagging; she'd evened the score
Written by Tim Smith:
Nonsense is here found out in the alley
Five funny lines we'll add to the tally
a smile or two
we laught till we're blue
so put out your best and join in our rally
Written by Alexis Y:
Hey what's going on in the soup?
Lim'rik Flats I want the scoop
What do you have to say?
You got poem of the day
Congrats, I shouldn't have flown the coop
Written by Jean Murray:
John is always fun.
His poems and their puns.
If you need a lift.
He has the gift.
Lim'rik Flats is number one.
psst. How could I not add this to the string? ~ john
Confronted with conflicting self-forces
my flesh groans in adversities’ braces
gripped by haughty human nature that reigns
over flawed sinful carnality strains.
Granted with grace of redemption by Christ
my soul owns His eternal life, blood-priced
along imputed righteousness divine
changing me from iniquities’ design.
Quickened toward God-consciousness delight
my spirit yields to Almighty light
striving to win own personal battles
smiting selfishness, pride and greed rattles.
Settling to choose best in dilemmas’ test
my faith seeks truth from Scripture wisdom nest
believing immutable verities
learned well from discipleship certainties.
Created in God’s image: wondrous deed
my essence is complete through Him indeed
made functional through ministerial acts
living for Him, reaching-out midst peace-pacts.
Staying in the center of the Lord’s will
my heart contented, with love He does fill
while satisfied by His faithfulness’ bliss
prospered in glad service I cannot miss.
Blest with uniqueness of distinct beauty
my being finds worth in Jesus’ bounty
He values me through His compassion wealth
enriching* personhood by divine health.
*2Corinthians 9:11 Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

The Scripture asserts this truth in Luke 21:11:
“And great earthquakes shall be in divers places,
and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights
and great signs shall there be from heaven.”
Already prophesied… thus, expected to happen.
With such turmoil, I, DISASTER personified present to you
my horrifying rage smiting mountains’ grandeur
igniting volcanoes to burst out flames reminding hell’s torture forever
awaiting the faithless and unbelievers to yell midst restlessness’ angst
sealed in their deplorable doom midst cruel defiant hatred.
You’ve witnessed my fury as devouring CALAMITY
revealed by my forest fire’s peril…
such is just a glimpse of unending heat in hell’s no-exit destiny
where misery gloom prevails in endless darkness
due to sufferings and hopelessness pangs
leaving righteousness-offenders in their guilty status.
My wrath’s unleashing fatal power of ruthless CATASTROPHE
reigns over mankind’s abuse of nature, bringing pestilence
as sun’s scorching heat keeps emitting deadly rays
voicing out grim warning of hell-fire's everlasting torment
expressing death's wailing every second
as sorrows, anguish, woes howl in wild lamentation
with constant gnashing of teeth terribly experienced.
In my PERDITION forces, you’re awakened by God Almighty
now, reflect on this reality as I appeal to your body, soul and spirit…
my terror is still no match with hell's tenacious grip
which you can miss to obtain peace-filled freedom
by trusting the Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ placing your faith in HIM
Who already vanquished hell by His sacrificial love*
toward triumphant "end of age" welcoming unending agelessness.

Reaching down to offer eternal life
the Saviour gave Himself, oh precious gift
midst guilt-condemning sins, awfully rife
drawing me nigh toward heaven uplift
with love's pardon from iniquity strife.
So loved to enjoy peaceful freedom grant
my soul abides in Christ blissfully now
along faith with ministerial implant
blest to fulfill service-commitment vow
fortified to silence distressful rant.
Vibrant relationship marked by trust
tied around grand divine* partnership bond
abounding love, spiritually robust
midst fellowship which to prayers respond
for faithful stewardship needing grace-must.
Grateful for loving moments to reach-out
my heart worships God, Who supplies great grace
cheering me as I share, smiting pain pout…
He anchors my steps upon wisdom’s brace
letting me win in every righteous bout.

I oppress souls…
attacking every heart; exempting even the spirited
now, you’re my prey
yes, you who are despondent
frustrated, and now…
quitting!
Be prudently aware of my presence
hear my mocking, taunting reproach
I challenge you, believer of God...
Yes, you who have been testifying
that your faith is steadfast
face me valiantly---
prevail over my miserable torture!
Rise up and meet me---
where's your courage?
all I see is sighing in despair
along murmur of complaints
loser, I leave you, wallowing in your guilt
and bring to your nook many more
who enjoy pity-party sessions!
Oh, I hear you praying unto the Lord---
may I congratulate you, devoid of hypocrisy
You're now indeed advancing
Toward heavenly championship…
actually, smiting me is never impossible
since vanquishing me is undoubtedly easy
when you trust in God, your ultimate cause of triumph*

July 16 Relationship to God Bible Meditations Based on Isaiah 46-50
Key Verse – Isaiah 47:4 As for our redeemer, the LORD of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.
LORD GOD, YOU ARE MY HOLY REDEEMER
Lord God, You are my holy Redeemer midst sinful burden
Thank You for pulling me out against downfalls of pride so sudden
Away from troubles of transgressions’ warden
To bring me to Your salvation-garden.
Lord God, You are my holy Redeemer midst corrupt pollution
Thank You for taking me out against yokes of pleasures’ destruction
Away from wickedness’ perversion
To drive me to Your holiness-function.
Lord God, You are my holy Redeemer midst obstinate stubbornness
Thank You for releasing me out against treacherous deceitfulness
Away from affliction of falsity’s illness
To propel me to Your Word-truthfulness.
Lord God, You are my holy Redeemer midst infirmity’s fatality
Thank You for plucking me out against crises of no prosperity
Away from false teachings’ uncertainty
To lead me to Your direction-stability.
Lord God, You are my holy Redeemer midst vain judgment
Thank You for rescuing me out against despicable entanglement
Away from dark prisons’ encampment
To guide me to Your comfort-settlement.
Lord God, You are my holy Redeemer midst continual wastage
Thank You for preserving me out against secularism’s spoilage
Away from carnality’s hostage
To carry me to Your fellowship-advantage.
Lord God, You are my holy Redeemer midst iniquities’ reign
Thank You for freeing me out against selfishness’ strain
Away from rebelliousness of smiting sprain
To usher me to walk along obedience-terrain.

The sword in my hand
is a pen
Sharp is the dried ink
I electronically send
Like all the mighty men of old,
I’m not afraid to speak the truth
Children of Judah walk like lions,
we stride bold
Idol loving liars beware,
I love hunting your beastly sins
I love catching you in the dark,
then smiting you with my pen
The sword in my hand
is a Goliath-killing pen ...
it’s fire forged
Slinging a smooth, small stone of truth,
I took the big sword
out of my enemy’s hand
Now it’s a giant sword I’m wielding
So I ask, as I approach: are you foe or friend?
Wrong answer will get you cut down,
struck dead by my pen
Truth is a double-edged sword,
its words are sharp
Blessed is he who has the words of God
issuing from their mouth
Faithful is he who holds that sword
resting on the hot coals
Devoted is he who unsheathes this pen,
ready to join the battle
of Good versus evil
There once was a princess
so beautiful,
That all those who beheld her
Wanted her hand forever
There was, at this time,
A White Knight
In shining armor
(save a few tarnish spots
he'd somehow overlooked)
Who roamed the land
Seeking justice and true love
Unbeknownst to those
in the kingdom,
The beautiful princess
was secretly controlled,
and endlessly tortured;
By evil dragons
Servants of a Dark Sorcerer
Dragons of abuse, loneliness
and jealousy-
She desperately sought a love
One promised in a dream...
A total and true love
Independent of her beauty,
or her wealth
The White Knight;
Clumsy at times-
Had the keenest vision
in all the land
And the purest inner heart
His sword was sharp
(sharper than him)
And dragons fled from him
He searched the land
For the true love he so needed
One day the knight
came upon the Princess's realm
One glimpse and his heart
was hers
But dragons have wings
And the host of dragons
flapped their's
so furiously...
that the ground shook
The knight stumbled,
Smiting his head
Suddenly his vision fouled
He knew in his heart
he had to rescue her...
from these fierce dragons
But his vision, now blurred
Would not let him
wield his sword in defense
Heros sometimes fail-
As did our brave knight...
And the dragons
Prevailed
The princess still waits
In her lonely tower
She will not forget-
His love, and his valor-
She will not be free...
She will await a
new, braver,
stronger knight
But he may never come
And the dragons
may lose next time...
And the princess
our knight prays...
Will be happy,
And free-
At last."
Winter, winter how we feel your icy touch
The earth is now under your freezing clutch
What falls in our ears is the howl of gales from far
The night sky, cast in grayness devoid of a single star
In the dawn, nowhere can one spot the buzzing bees
Icicles hang from boughs of leafless trees
Birds sit with drooping wings in their woody nests
Within eye shot, no trace of any roaming beasts
Trees stand sleeping in the biting cold
The sun has lost its bright sheen of gold
From nowhere comes the song of a single bird
On the slopes, one cannot sight the grazing herd
Roof tops are crusted with flakes of snow
That the sun with sharp beams alone can thaw
Piles of snow lie heaped on the barren ground
And the entire Earth lies in a sea of ice drowned
Busy streets and pavements are now lying bare
People stay indoors. To be out they hardly dare
The rodents have gone into hibernation in their ditch
And life altogether has gone out of pitch
In the smiting chill of a dreadful wintry night
When through every fiber n’ nerve, is the cold bite
How we like to sit cocooned beside the hearth
Sipping a cup of steaming tea in rising mirth
In such quiet hours, one can peruse into the pages of tomes
That will transport one to enchanting magical zones
Or engage in a hearty chat with friends and family
Thus turning even the bleakest hours sweet and lively

February 4 Faith in God Bible Meditations Based on Leviticus 11-13
Key Verse – Leviticus 11:44 For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy…
FAITH IN GOD WHO SANCTIFIES US
God sanctifies us from sin-leprosy
By His mercy healing our plague’s persistency…
We thank Him for the power of His clemency
That transforms us by faith along His love’s fervency.
God sanctifies us from flesh-filthiness
By His holiness melting our lustfulness…
We thank Him for the brightness of His righteousness
That radiates around us by faith midst worldliness.
God sanctifies us from pride-inflammation
By His meekness smiting our arrogant reaction…
We thank Him for the clarity of His instruction
That propels us by faith toward growth’s function.
God sanctifies us from vice-defilement
By His purification vanquishing our addiction impairment…
We thank Him for His grace of restoration-replenishment
That upholds us by faith against evil allurement.
God sanctifies us from trespass-infirmity
By His forgiveness correcting our iniquity…
We thank Him for His pardon of acquitting quality
That makes us by faith to enjoy eternal life’s security.
God sanctifies us from command-disobedience
By His discipline conquering our rebellion-resurgence…
We thank Him for His Word of steadfast diligence
That enables us by faith to win against carnal expedience.
God sanctifies us from transgression-pest
By His purity cleansing our errors to the fullest…
We thank Him for His kindness of compassionate zest
That blesses us while we do by faith our utmost best.

I cherish precious times
Along God’s vibrant love*
Resolved midst prayed-for goal
With joyous revival
To fulfill assigned role.
I cherish precious times
With blest triumphant glow
Encouraging me more
To do by faith what’s good
Yes, better than before.
I cherish precious times
Of radiant gladness
Readily reaching-out
Smiting selfishness force
While subduing pride’s pout.
I cherish precious times
having jubilant hope
Living by divine grace
Sharing peace, showing care
Each step upon life’s pace.
