Best Seamus Poems
A moon smiling shines one golden glow
Holds my attention from far below
Ring around a rose her pearly white face
Brings to mind a love one's embrace
Inside dreaming Heaven's opens door
keys the lips kissing explore
Faraway treasure star falling wishes grace
Exploding emotions increases the heart's pace
Winking goodnight sweet angel holds
Forever and always until the bells toll

Off, Seamus marched with a swagger,
Yet, soon, he slowed, that sly lagger.
Then, not very far,
He snuck to a bar:
By noon, his march was a stagger.

Said Seamus to his wife, with a wink
Since I cannae go out for a drink
I'm sure me and you
Can find something to do
Let me hug you, while both of us think

Limerick
There once was a farmer called Seamus,
who had an incompetant anus.
When out on a date with girlfriend Kate,
he blamed his dog when he farted,
to prevent her being startled.

The Soup kitchen's queue are in line .
The economy , banjaxed and dyin' .
When Lehmans went bust
The bankers just cussed
So now , " Buddy who can spare a dime " ?.
I called up my banker , by chance .
With an invite to the " Poor Peoples " dance .
He came dressed in rags
With two plastic bags
And the ass missing , from his old pants .
No Ferraris or Mercs to be seen .
For between us , we hadn't a bean .
The soup it was cold
And the bread , it had mould
And Seamus the Chef , was a " Queen " .
The dessert trolly started to shake .
Baked Alaskas were fried like a steak .
Amid all the wailin'
In strolled Sarah Palin
" Vote me in and I'll give you a break " .
I awoke in a lather of sweat
At the characters I had just met .
With a sad sorry weep
I went straight to sleep.
"Snore it off , Seán , that's as good as 'twill get .

(for Seamus Heaney)
as if the pale stones
share the warmth
between two sides
sea and field cut
early light and full morning
the path weathered and slow

Who is this boy?
Harry Potter.
He is a teen wizard,
From the school Hogwarts.
Harry has two best mates,
Ron and Hermione, each other they hate.
Ron is a wizard, Hermione a muggle-witch.
Its up to Harry,
To keep their friendship,
Smooth without a hitch.
Together with Albus Dumbledore,
They rage a war,
Against the evil forces of,
Dark Lord Voldemort.
Voldemort has a sorry past,
Though was an orphan,
He stood as tall as a ship’s mast.
Voldemort’s real name is
Tom Marvolo Riddle.
No, he’s not just any boy,
Playing his fiddle.
Tom looked for power.
He attained it with forces that were evil.
He tortured an innocent boy’s parents to insanity.
The boy’s name is Neville.
Ginny is Ron’s sister
And a friend of Harry and Hermione.
There are Dean and Seamus,
Best mates they are,
Also jealous of Harry’s scar.
This is a short summary of Harry Potter,
Created by J.K. Rowling- THE WONDER AUTHOR.

Ode
A JOKE IN A POEM
Sat me down in a bar one day,
Paddy and Seamus said "G'day!"
Barmaid said, "Here's your beer,"
I replied, "Thanks, my dear."
Many the hours of chats and beers,
Many the beers, many the beers.
Paddy asked, "Tell me, me dears,
Why did God make beer?"
"Dunno," we said, "Ask the barmaid here!"
"Why did God make beer?"
Barmaid said, passing out beers,
"To make men happy, my dears'
Have more beers, cheers!"
"Quote of the year, quote of the year!"
"Bring that barmaid over here."
"Who's for more beers, me dears?"
Many a cheer, many a cheer.

Ah who will follow Seamus
And walk where he has been
From 28 Mellows Avenue
To football on the green.
I could not take the road he
chose
From Finglas to East Wall
A dedicated life to those
Not ready to heed the call
To step outside the comfort
zone
what they believe is
preordained
To light the lamp in fertile
minds
So long entrapped in traditional
chains

Poets
in literal meaning
are not responsive
to normative rules of dying
moreover
just like the Saints
they do not fit into a
written conventions
of the existence
of the survival
at all costs
at the cost of their own greatness
they rather resemble
orphaned fortresses
which has to be taken
meter by meter - as in the past
with the severe blood loss
or permanently straining
among the yellow fields
mossy towers with no vaults
but with the ever-vigilant gaze
poet as gaper
windblown
caressed by storms
until he not falls
never measures
himself as the one
and then all fading behind
for life and death of a Poet
there is no proper time
he lives in himself
stirring up higher and higher
by the abandoned fortification
of horror of consequences
to the moment in which
he is taken - far far away
- In memory of
Seamus Heaney

Epitaph
In recognition of the Nobel Poet Laureat Seamus Heaney,
who a few minutes before he left this world last Friday
echoed the Words of the King before He rose from this earth;
NOLI TIMERE....... DO NOT BE AFRAID.
Thank you for that much needed reminder of Christ's own words,
Seamus Heaney. May God have mercy on your poetic soul and your loved ones.
There is no hope in the world. There is only hope in Christ.
Be Not Afraid.

A HEANEY EKPHRASIS
Lyrical in beauty,dug from
the depths of the past.
A storyteller, articulate in
elegaic stanza writing words
to last.Of farm life and childhood,
deep in Irish terra firma in
which he and his poetry stood.
A delightful imagist quality
of 'as is moments' once
frozen in memory,and now
released for our delight .His
triplet,quatrain and quintain form
brings a succinctness of thought
combined with the commonplace
A Tribute to Seamus Heaney 1939-2013

Ekphrasis
On the first day of a year long ago
We walked the path to the glazing wood
Peter, Michael, Seamus and me
We cut hazel wands to swing
Severing the tops from offending fern and brier
Some spark of our ancestry
Made us hunter gatherers
As the dogs rose and caught startled rabbits
Proudly home, ‘Mam, here is the dinner’
The rest sold to old Mrs Power
Six pence each we were rich
Every three rabbits bought five cigarettes
And a flagon of cheap cider
In a fern hid den we sat on damp ground
Sucking sweet apple from brown bottles
Cupping acrid smoking sticks in children’s hands
For a while we were men, our fathers
That was a day far off in my youth
Before life filled my pockets with stones
I was young then

...inspired by 'Fireside' by Seamus Heaney
Flashlight tracings trap and dazzle,
dancing in the twilight. Children hurry
through the meadow, flip-flops flapping,
eager beavers chasing dreams.
Quick the flow, the stream blinks
back a hint of moonlight,
and the torches' criss cross
patterns scatter 'til the beams converge.
Nets are plied, and mason jars
are dunked beneath the rippling surface,
small fish wriggle in confinement
midst excitement and delight.
Safe and snug, imaginations settle,
tucked in as they say goodnight.

Verse
...inspired by 'An Artist' by Seamus Heaney
He keeps himself confined,
to bluster now, and remonstrate
the struggle being more than he can bear.
Pieces of him pulverized, fashioned from
the sweat of his own making to a glimpse
of the immortal, just a glimpse, but not
the crowning glory.
So many vestiges, heros in the making,
but a careless chip, an errant slice,
consigns them to the beggars pile,
without that patina of agelessness.
Never ready, never groomed to wear
that sacred halo on their heads,
the crowning glory.
Once in a while a piece emerges,
bursting from the cold, defiant marble,
his fingers can't work fast enough
to exorcize this deity,
fingers, limbs and face in perfect symmetry,
they become eternal,
the suggestion of a wreath their crowning glory!
