DRY MASCARA

Nobody sees through the shadow and the color of my eyes
The times I've cried are the only time you notice the trace down my face
This time,
The sorrow at heart is deeper than anything I've ever penned or spoken of,
an atmosphere of dark film and Revlon
Many times I allowed myself to die, only to return to the living
The numbness of my soul delivers weight nobody can lift

Talk of black eyes, the tale of my life reopens every scar
On good days, the sun seems to stray from where I lay,
Only to reveal the paste that drowns my face
At times I blank out the pain,
the depression compiles the close quarters of my room
Even then, I can't escape every past wound I covered up
Hiding was never the problem, the healing process was

Institutionalized, no longer able to function as a whole
Each cell inside replicates a tight thick wall with no escape
The laughter of nothing sinks into a gulf of tears
With moods more melancholy than most
I press the pain that echoes hard within my head
- I weep
Deep sadness flows with no mercy, no reason
Nothing to cancel out the voices that hush my inner being
In a whisper, I ask for H E L P,
- I bleed
Nobody sees me, nobody hears me, NOBODY.....
The mascara ruins another fake mask

Grief is somber,
a constant reminder to my soul that it can't hide forever
Silence - callous
Until I can't feel anything...
Empty - detached
I felt myself become numb
Emotions gone
I laughed at the end.

Premium Member A Purple Muse In Thought

The deep purple passion of love intoxicates
To fill life's chalice with wondrous wonder
Nothing exists in any realm which replicates
Nor has its power to cast a heart asunder

Passion makes worlds disappear with its eyes
And can teach an empty vessel what serenity means
Its warm rich fullness can overwhelm and surprise
And can invite a poetic soul to reveal its dreams

Inside Out

Inside Out

The mighty mitochondria make ATP,
Without which there’d be no you or no me.
From glucose, bonds break and energy flows,
Through various molecules, energy goes.
From foods that you once eventually ate,
ADP gets another phosphate.

It can reproduce when only one,
(But all by itself, that can’t be much fun.)

The round DNA in them that is found,
Is the same as bacteria that today are around.
But it still retains its original way,
And replicates with its own DNA.

Ribosomes also, like bacteria’s of course.
Of their proteins, they are the source.
The ribosomes that it uses to make its protein,
Are just like bacteria’s, when close up are seen.

And these proteins, they are very old,
Like those of bacteria, so we are told.

Two membranes it has and the problems that posed,
Until the thought, it was once phagocytosed.

The bacterium was phagocytized, no lysosome engaged,
They started living together with no one enraged.
And because at the start, the lysosome did fail,
Now two membranes remain to suggest this tale.

And so it is true,
With chloroplasts too.
The same type of tale,
Just not being pale.
These are plain green,
And easily seen.
From sunlight and carbon they make a compound,
That their mitochondria can then break down.
For their mitochondria work just the same,
To make ATP, the name of the game.

Endosymbiosis is the name of the game,
Many people don’t get it and that’s a real shame.
It’s more than just two things living together,
It made them both quite different and better.
A few billion years past, both were living,
A cell and bacterium, each one giving.

What does it matter, why do we care?
Because with endosymbiosis, evolution does share.
The bacterium had talent in making ATP,
And became mitochondria in both you and me.

Premium Member Blue Brine Horizon

Swelling tide billows in with ultimate force,
insulting bronze sandy shoreline on its course.

Tossing creatures about in brine water home,
mixing, churning into a white frothy foam.

Against blue horizon velvet waters peer to merge,
illusion vanishes with every sea wavelet surge.

Eyes search far beyond azure ocean so vast,
replicates placidity recently glassed….

Cellular Reality

specks affect our view
and vision of life is altered -
              events happen in ticks

smallest particles
       unceasingly replicates -
              time is perpetual

in whatever size
all that matters make impact –
              truth remains unchanged

Breaking Away

Heard whispers float around
Sacrifice your peers to live
All driven to the ground
Why would I stay?

Even if they are friends
It matters not at all
Means justified by the ends
The scars all multiply

Left an outcast
Among the freaks
Safe within
My mask of indifference

Alone I stand against
The constant warfare
I smile freely
As they fight all the while

I'm breaking away from the life they serve me
Leaving to die those who don't deserve their
Lives

I'm breaking away from the fighting and lying
Political waste replicates in their dying
Eyes

I'm breaking away from what is defined as
Normal, I find it's all a great waste of
Time

I'm breaking away from the curse of society
Outcast among outcasts, no one to me matters but
I

Free My People

Free my people from the chains that confine us
From the constant humiliation
And hurtful ways that blight us
Demeaning in purpose
Senseless in intent
Put down your tools of discord and relent
Bring us peace and harmony
And not the constant lament

Free my people from the bondage
Tethered around our necks
That you keep tightening
Causing pain in our mothers breast
Give us peace, let us rest
Let us illuminate the world
Of which we are blessed
Give us opportunities to be our best

Free my people from the maze
Of turbulence, denials, confrontation, and hate
That is inflicted from cradle to the grave
From the subjugation, that is laid
Cant you realize we are the same
Flesh and blood, love and hope?

Free my people so we can be a part
Of a cherished existence
One with a compassionate heart
Free from the strife that blight us
Distorting our existence and daily life
Its our privilege, its our right
Do not steal our glory
Or darken our light

Free my people of the lies
That is portrayed in history
Right before our eyes
Of our glory that is taken
Now heads bowed, we are broken
From the constant onslaught
Of a negative design
That has unhinged our people
Leaving them behind

Free my people from the wanton evil
That is not of god but of the devil
Not of the scriptures, but of a time
When indiscretions and frailties ruled your mind
We call on you to be just
Open your minds, with mutual trust
The pigmentation of the skin is of nature
So how can you praise god
And despise his creation?
For the diversity it heaved
From it's spores, it's seeds

As nature replicates its difference
Why not celebrate this beauty
Why not pay it reverence?
That of the one seed planted
Many trees and branches vaunted
Each a necessary part of expansion
Not to be made a tool of division
But a celebration of diversity of life.

Premium Member First Poem - Whirlpool

Luckless vessel plucked from the surface;
sucked into uncharted fathoms.
Relentless, roiling vortex
consumes all evidence.
Sated, exhausted,
swirling eddy
dissipates.
All is
calm.

Notes for contest:

I joined Poetry Soup a few years ago and posted this as my first entry.

Reading back on it now, I am still pleased with its imagery and the message held within; how even the largest, most powerful man-made vessel becomes infinitesimal and completely helpless in the face of Nature's wrath.

I feel the poem flows with a nice rhythm and, as one kind 'Souper commented, the shape of the Nonet form almost replicates that of the subject matter - subconscious intent or happy coincidence…?

Poetry Soup has been instrumental in boosting my confidence and maintaining my output. The member-run contests provide continual motivation, whilst the kind and supportive comments from fellow 'Soupers are nothing less than inspirational. I thank you all.

Premium Member Kaleidoscopic

“The rays of setting sun design the unframed dreams
in life’s kaleidoscopic snapshot.” – by Poet

The revolving wheel of the ceaseless time
rotates the contrived kaleidoscope of life,
the riveting patterns change persistently
in the mélange of motif enmeshing the mind.

The chameleon colors transform transiently
the visage of mind’s varied landscape
into the ashen essence of burnt forlornness,
or the beguiled feeling of emerald exuberance.

The dispersed dreams drifting away to the past,
float on the cascade of fantasy stream,
meandering on the topography of the present,
carved out of the bedrock of ebullience.

My emotion replicates the wings of butterflies,
fluttering on the ripples of blissful breeze,
and before they all waft away to obscurity,
form for me a flying formation of fulfillment.

I take my lonesome journey with hope
across the greening wasteland of despair,
or along the glittering garden path,
lined with blooming saplings of bursting colors.

I then perceive my closed mind unfurl,
unveiling the receptive canvas of sensuality,
painted with shifting colors of sublime beauty of being,
creating the kaleidoscopic collage of euphoria.

State of Love

State of Love

Imagination of love with object
Dispenses love and generates sacrifice
Money of pocket and intention of buying
Helps all in all case.

Thus it defines to engross love
And should oblige with case of price
Donate it in any way
And offer some valuable face

Aim of love with situation
Encircle self with amicable sense
Wait and be ready to grasp situation
Whatever present state delivers

But ignore dissatisfaction remove from place
If it is not for you by liking steps
State of love is your sacrifice
How do you create this not by others?

All are involved in self loving race
Buy object or face, both treat you same way
It replicates on your behave as in mirror
How would you broaden your cheek for test?

To buy pure, immaculate and natural love
Accuracy should be complete as globe
As you cannot go against of nature
How water, wind, light, and soil serve you selfless.

God Bless America!!!

GOD BLESS AMERICA! ( USA )

She is America ,

A specimen of limitless beauty

Interlocking diversity, united is the states

An abode, given to God for own

A realm freedom makes home

The model heaven replicates here

A near perfection, yet a standard

An ideal template to civilization

Brightest star amongst many

Canopy where compassion is native

Selfless in service, all benefit

Defender of universal justice

A fair police evil dread

An enemy, many misunderstand

Yet the good, wants a piece of her

America, an empire all-pervading

God bless America !

Your kindness, will never be a fault

A giver, never with a grudge

God bless America !

Hope of the oppressed

Your blood, a sacrifice to universal peace

God bless you America

Greatest land of noble Heroes

With warriors of universal appeal

Bravely wired, with liberation skill

America God bless your sacrifices

Humanity hails you and applauds

Heavens true embassy for real

Even beast as Eagle

Like others, support your resolve

Sincerely, this for you, my medal

My gratitude so measureless

Yes! I admire you

For am your fan for life.

Beaming and flaunting 50

Your territories is marked Golden

A beautiful bride,

All glimpses you attract

Just a piece of you,

Many memories perpetually treasure

Disembarking the wings of hope

Your change is ushered

Welcome to new horizon

A dawn of impeccable excellence

Continue as always,

 Heal and change the world

All’s allegiance will not be corrupted

Once again, a new America is born again

To nurture ,nourish ,pollinate

And entrench the dream

Yes! He had a dream

A dream! , a dream!

The American Dream

A dream of change

God bless America

America blesses God.

Foreign On Wind and Word

Foreign On Wind And Word

Tie down words in yesterday’s dilemmas, gondola soft
Send them off on feathers, light as weathers messengers
What are words but air up there in winds
Let them fly, to catch a cold or flake of snow
Who knows, maybe reason will come through
Fog might melt, lift, revealing light, awakening
Words are known throughout the world for what they are
And what they say in cultures
China replicates everything including language
Sleep now, don’t worry, float away on granite minded clouds
That keep the spirit down and grounded
Society will fill in what’s missing
In China children open up to sing
Oppression is the only song they know
What is that word I’m looking for?
Innovation! Worth its weight in gold
Heavy up there in an atmosphere of words
When terms fall, crash, find their way into cracks
Like facts, open on fresh minds… Invention!
Hard is the term, loud on the solid mountain when it falls
Comets, like words, come in a flash, linger there
When children tie them down in streams of consciousness
Volcanic boys and girls do lava dances to be free
In China children eat their rice, glance, absorb everything
There is no way of holding back on nature
Tenacity! Is a word. Ingenuity! Is another
They come in streams, in balls of string, tied together
Make sense of sentences
Don’t be afraid
They are only a group of words
Composing a complete thought
They represent the meaning
Assigned to them in any nation
Created to fill young minds

Portrait, Sacred and Profane

A heart quite overpoured is mine.
It replicates the breath
inspiring purity and art
with just a piquancy of lust,
expiring endings of romance
and promises,
of wisdom in the dance
that holds decorum back
and celebrates the wilds
of fancy, balanced by
excursions of the moment
into love.

Two natures reach
across the table of my life,
and at the moment they are friends.
They vie for some ascendancy
but give no thought
to final victory; it is a badinage
with no superior but for
the instant flashing of reality,
the fleeting smile of tolerance,
the protocol of dreams.

And then the desert wind comes up
and passion flares. Sirocco dares
to cross the sea and steam my body,
yield, invoke the sanctity of art,
and bowdlerize the arcane glory
of desire. Thoughts of transcendence
intertwine the carnal heat, and I,
aware there are two men
who ride the storm within me,
may relish laughter
in my quest for peace

Catching Tears

It permiates from another state,
Subservant to my will it mates,
So turbulent as it rips and tares,
Observing it within my stare...
It can seperate upon my face,
Till it replicates then leave no trace,
To commemorate the part of me,
Left to demonstrate mortality...
By no stretch of my imagination,
I protect it with such hesitation,
Unsuspected by your revalation,
Undetected I become creation...
A redundant force that nature bares,
That abundant source that waits in lair,
Until its called upon in time of need,
Fusing dusk and dawn once it is freed...
If I see your tears running like the sand,
Then I re-appear and stretch my hands,
So the only ones that will leave your eyes,
Can reverse its flow as it finds the sky...

Sunset Siesta

The soft rays shoot my eyes
The green grass awakes
On my laps, open like banana leaves
Is a cover-less book
It is about a bread of sorrow

Yonder, a greenly hill gasps
And hinders valleys
Valleys that hinder folks
Folks that bore a damsel
Damsel who gives me sleepless nights

A cat passes by, meows and walks by wayside
Silently, it stalks my new dove
Shhhw; Shwwww, Shwww
And with a "Relax master, I just wanted to play; lol" look
It joins its master and its tummy growls like it has complaining worms

A highland sunset, like all other sunset
Never replicates!
And that is how daily experience is
Never replicates!
Sadly, we witness the death of a day-everyday
A day we never have enough!
