Premium Member In the Moment

Sitting by his bed
Labored breathing
Time is short
Holding his hand
A prayer – for him, for me
Be strong and courageous
Eyes blink open for a moment
Then nothing – gone
Tears flow
Skin relaxes
Death pallor forms
Alone in the moment
Alone

Cell Phone rings
My daughter in a panic
Fear spikes my heart
Dad – there are ants in the bathroom
Relief – exhaling
Death in the moment
But also Life
Life

Goodbye dear friend
Our time over
Your precious love and wisdom
I take
To guide my moments
My moments

To love
To forgive
To encourage
To live
Each day
Each person
In every situation
Compassionately
Boldly
Completely
In every moment

In
Every
Moment

Premium Member Your Ocean

I stand on the edge of your ocean, ready to dive in
Wanting to discover the depths of you
I have looked at the surface of you
Beautiful beyond my puny words
Sometimes your calmness relaxes me
I become lost in your serenity
My eyes are stretched to your horizon
I can not see all of you
I play innocently along your shores
I dip my toes into your cool waters
Slowly I am drawn into you
I feel you encompass my body
Then there is an undertow
I am helpless to resist, drawn further from the shore
To the centre of you
I do not wish to escape
I trust you with my very soul
Sinking beneath the surface
I am wrapped in your embrace
Color surrounds me, my being is infused with your joy
The feeling of weightlessness, we are now joined
You are the beginning and completion of me
I was not meant to just stand on your shores

Dedicated to the Love of my life. I continue to explore the depths of her.

Premium Member My Eternal Ocean

My sails are trimmed, prepared for our adventure,
I have gazed longingly at the surface of you
Beautiful beyond my comprehension
Your rhythmic calmness relaxes me
I am hypnotized by your serenity
My desire is to discover the depths of you

My bow stretches to your horizon
Still I cannot experience all of you
I float innocently upon your waves
Refreshed by your cool waters
In an instant you change
Encompassing me, crashing against me
Yet I do not wish to escape

My ocean, I trust you with my very soul
As I sink beneath your surface
I am wrapped in your eternal embrace
Colour surrounds me, my being is infused with your joy
The feeling of weightlessness, as we are joined
You are the beginning and completion of me
I was not formed to merely float along your shores.

Premium Member Can You Spare a Teardrop

I cried for so long, so many nights,
and now no more tears can drop,
I'm all out, do you have some to spare,
cause you know once I start, I can't stop.

I go on for days with a heavy heart,
no tears fall, though inside I'm crying,
I feel empty, hollow, dark inside,
a soul dead, and still is dying.

Can I fill a bucket from your well,
the sun came out, dried up my rain,
I'll take them carefully, try not to spill,
cause I've got a need to ease the pain.

That feeling of washing away the sorrow,
with trickling tear-water, clear and cool,
soothes the soul, relaxes the ache,
can I dive right into your swimming pool?

I need to pour out your flowing brook,
to keep me crying a river for today,
I want to hold despair in my hands,
please let this melancholy feeling stay.

Premium Member Nature's Surroundings

As she walks barefoot into her garden, her body connects to the earth's healing magnetic fields.
She then sits on a faded wooden bench and is greeted by the flowers, who gently nod their heads.

A smile lights up her face as the warmth of the sun bathes her skin, and the green grass cushions and tickles her feet.
She then closes her eyes and relaxes in nature's surroundings.

The soft summer breeze caresses her hair as the soothing sound of leaves rustles on the trees.
She listens to robins sweetly singing their songs and breathes in the sweet perfume from the lilac blossoms.
She is connected and content.

Background Music Before Sleep

In the asphalt homeland
I lay down to sleep
   In the background
a saxophone wails
  and relaxes tired muscles
Streetlights cut through the darkness
    The day has passed
as days do
   This city dweller
wishes to head off to
    dreamland
Jazz in the background
   lets his mind wander
through sweet pathways
     not created
 by the hands of man
My heart beats with a rhythm
stolen from the heart of the city
Sax wails, drums beat
pianist plays lovely riffs
My dreams will be filled with joy
 tonight
for I know
   there are plenty
of
others
in
this
city
   who will join
me in the jazz fantasia
   which awaits us

Premium Member A Love Couple Cuddling On a Couch

The cute figurine I am looking at now
is one of a couple at home on a couch.

The guy, at the end of the couch, comfortably
relaxes, a pillow upon his left knee.

With her head on the pillow there at his knee,
his gal reclines sideways while they watch TV.

On the top of the couch is perched a white cat,
which I picture them now and then giving a pat!

In front of the couch of this sweet figurine
is their loyal puppy, completing the scene.

How nice it is to be comfy cozy
snuggling together, a picture so rosy.

How precious the moments in one’s family,
for with those we love is the best place to be!

Premium Member On Loving a Rock Star - Redux

Lavish locks sprawl pillowed in peace this morn.
Gently whiskered cheeks hint of last night's lipstick
Tensions banished blue grassy fiddling lingers
Let's take it easy

I'll make the omelets
while you get a shower, dear.
Oh? You'd rather play some more?
Alright, eats postponed.
Pounding rhythms drumming heartbeats
Satiation lullaby.

In stillness your breath meanders its way
through the vast concert hall of my naked
vulnerability cooing minor
keyed assurances of something finer.

Rifts while integral to the theme render
our phrasing discordant at times yet
your hard earned skill in handling your fender
is spawning a wisdom I don't quite get

but it soothes and smooths, warms and relaxes
us both and though still stressed out by taxes
and injustice, fear and idiocy
frustrations from others unable to see

we remember our gift of harmony
and sing our twin souls free of enmity.

Premium Member A Magical Cup of Coffee

The magic of coffee, the spell of my tea,
The allure of the vapour swirling up.
Every day I am caught in a beautiful trance,
Hypnotised by a small coffee cup.

It’s a risk with no milk, how hot is the drink,
Will it burn my tender lips to the flesh?
Or is the moment just right, right now for a sip,
A sip that’s spontaneously fresh.

My mind jumps for joy, my insides are all warm,
My body feels hugged in a rug.
A rug that’s surreal, made up of my soft,
A soft filled from a small coffee mug.

This magical cuppa I sip every morning,
Relaxes, loosens up, every day.
This is a home away from home, a seat to relax,
In the corner of my local café.

Friendship

In the stillness of the night
Not a whisper anywhere
There came down a feather
So much lighter than air

In the stardust of darkness
The light from the moon
My hand reaches out
It’s never too soon

The contact is made there
A feather and skin
The weight is so nothing
It’s almost like sin

What meaning a feather
In the dark of the night
It floated towards me
No bird in my sight

My hand just relaxes
I gaze there within
A tiny white feather
Made soft and so thin

I close up my palm now
And feel the life there
The feather from darkness
A place with no care

And all right around me
The peace of the night
The magic of being
In this time of life

Take what I have here
Ill share it with you
The magic of friendship
The feather of truth.

Mellow Spaces

The music begins, then the singing
I close my eyes, and even my ears smile
inhale.. humongous exhale, arms raise to the heavens
then my hands pose, lingering in jazz dancer's style

My mind begins to fly
Or perhaps as I glimpse the shadows going by
it's actually birds, yes birds fast forwarding to the rhythm
flying past majestic leafy trees beneath a dusky sky

Then the speed slows from 78 rpm
to 33 and a third
my body relaxes a bit more while I sway
becoming hypnotized to each note to each word

The clouds are outlined in smoke
a gentle breeze blows against my face
dancers appear, adorned in loosely draped gray chiffon
enchanted by the music, they swirl with finesse and grace

The wind picks up, so much so, that now, I'm flying
the shadowy scene about me is racing
it's as though I'm soaring through a vortex
unfettered, perhaps it's a virtual paradise that I'm facing

Feeling mellow with this
Byrd's band flickers in and out, the notes float and transcend
the song finishes but the music doesn't, not yet
I pen this piece as I peace out, so the music doesn't really end...

Premium Member Cat-Nips Hope

On the bed, my ginger cat settles
onto a pile of clean laundry, dryer warm

Feline steady stare, resolute
           a strategy of possession
she relaxes the way prayer soothes

"Off!" I command. My cat an unwelcome bedded guest.
she whines, "Surely, he's bluffing!"
                       solidified
                       empowered
swollen in the pride of "I'm not moving!"
meows spewed like an anthem of resistance

I lift her from the pile,
my underwear dangles from cat claws
like cheap tinsel on a tree
she exits, her short lived reign
         sulks into howls of whining

         till dinner softens her rebuff
till wherever curiosity and comfort take her,
                                                                       anew

My hope of co-habitation:
to calm the little woes of daily chores
to reduce cat prestige from shedded hair
to shrink feline non-compliance to a
                                             manageable scale

Our social contract - a trade off
       to reaffirm my status
to maintain the charade of "boss"
       an unsteady footing
in the crushed aspiration of rule

Love Bug

The smallest, most annoying pest,
Seeks the heartbeat of your breast,
In search of where to build its nest,
Bites you, and forgets the rest.

It's venom starts to flow within,
The earth beneath begins to spin,
You fail to suppress an arcane grin,
And know this fluster must be a sin.

Electricity runs through your veins,
Grants strength to free break from your chains,
Relaxes you from all your strains,
And comforts like a thousand rains.

Your heart and soul embrace confusion,
With open arms greet this intrusion,
Is this Utopia just an illusion?
You're overtaken by dillusion.

This high is almost more than you can take,
Heart beats so fast it starts to ache,
Your every muscle starts to quakes,
Your body's frightened it will break.

You feel the mite begin to hollow,
To your heart, it's home to wallow,
Unsure of what is next to follow,
The tension makes it hard to swallow.

It reaches it's last destination,
You can't describe this new sensation,
You're free of every old frustration,
And a host to a new creation.

You sigh as every problem slacks,
You melt away like candle wax,
You never been quite this relaxed,
Yet you still wonder about the tracks.

Of this gnat gnawing at your soul,
Making you, for once, feel as a whole,
Burning in your heart like fire and coal,
But can't help but let it take control.

You close your eyes, your face is smug,
You know its true but still you shrug,
Knowing it's stronger than any drug,
You've been bitten by the love bug.
