For my adopted grandmother Nancy Enloe

I met you at a friend’s house,
standing stately on your cane,
tall and rosy-cheeked like me.
In your smile, I basked and thought,
“Long-lost cousin, could you be?”

Like my great aunt long ago,
when you learned I love to write,
you gave me...

Grandpa was a Bowie.
A tight-lipped protestant Ulsterman
who drifted into the Poblacht na hÉireann
in search of a cure for his cold heart.

His thin lips wed a soft Catholic girl.
He joined the Garda Síochána settling down
to breed Kerry Blue’s. After he retired, he still
wore his uniform, his...

Speaking quite frankly, I must say,
The burden of time grows heavier each day.
Reason stares cruelly, but I can only view blankly.
Growing angrier, shortsighted, and cranky.

In the past three hundred and sixty-five days,
Each moment seems to bestow the weight that stays.
Tasks pile up, deadlines loom,
Tick-tock of...

Book: Radiant Verses: A Journey Through Inspiring Poetry

Astronomy Related To the Stars
While astronomy,
Is related to the stars;
Planets does include.

With trepidation,
Concentrated on remarks;
Effects that they had.

Am now close to death;
What to me matters the most;
Will be heaven bound.

Used dead reckoning
On typographical map,
To find destiny.

Umbilical cord,
Connects baby with the womb,
So life will begin.

I Am Related To Adam
Jesus raised from the dead
The third day, and the promise
of Salvation was fulfilled.
Salvation only in Jesus a new
life now begin.

Because Jesus lives i can live also
This message of hope i hold firm
everyday. When it's good night and
bye, bye's on this side of life,
I will...

Summer on the Farm
As Related By Britches
By:Tom Wright

Britches gets up early
To greet the breaking of dawn,
A stretch, a scratch,
And if sleepy, a yawn;

Old Elsie the cow
Anxiously awaits his pull,
He hopes when they’re done
His buckets near full;

Later he’ll throw
The chickens some scratch,
By then his mom will...

Woman Sues R.J. Reynolds Over Son's Tobacco-Related Death
it started

as fevered

bee sting

on tongue—

then lips

gone

like beaver-gnawed

tree stumps—

then the chin

till like

some ruined

Greek statue

you lay

still

awaiting

a new chance—

the planting

in warm earth

to grow again...

From the eyes of a child
Like the rise of the Nile
Are brown rivers of soul and bold green chemistry.

Disobedient despite being scold
Never believing they'll get old
Creating cliques of tribal frenemy

New shoes Nikes or Tims painted white
worthy of slim boy girl fight
Running on black street growing...

Once upon a time
It just got cold and windy.
Now we have felt temperatures
Wind chills
Bombogenesis.

Snow days used to be fun.
NO SCHOOL…..YIPPEE!!!
We would ZOOM down the hills
On whatever would slide
Sleds, plastic “spinny” things,
Occasionally socks
Would replace wet mittens
Plastic bags would go over shoes
To allow easy entry to galoshes....

AGAIN I HEARED THE TREMBLING NOTES
MORE OVER THE PATIENT GLIMPSES THAN THAT OF A CELESTIAL BLISS
VISIONS THOUGHTS AND EVEN DREAMS MERGED EVENTUALLY
SOMEONE TOLD ME IT WAS A FUNERAL PROCESSION
I REGAINED STRENGTH FOLLOWED IT LIKE AN UNFORTUNATE TRAVELLER

WATCHING THE ROWS LISTENING THE MURMURS I...

ABOUT A LETTER

I was cleaning and re-arranging my
Precious book-shelves,
A lot came down, a lot went back after dusting
Off, much of such
Dust, but one blue heavy book caught my attention,
I am not of those who often delves,
But this one tickled my fancy, maybe a connection,
I...
