For my adopted grandmother Nancy Enloe

I met you at a friend’s house,
standing stately on your cane,
tall and rosy-cheeked like me.
In your smile, I basked and thought,
“Long-lost cousin, could you be?”

Like my great aunt long ago,
when you learned I love to write,
you gave me three r’s of verse:
Robert Wash, Service, and Frost,
and asked to read my own work.

Like my aunt in my childhood,
you invited me for swims.
In your pool, I splashed and laughed.
Like her, you asked to hear me play
my organ -the whole grand staff!

On a ten-day Rockies trip,
Jasper, Banff, and Lake Louise,
friends asked if you were my mom.
We smiled at that pleasing word
like Gilead’s healing balm.

One day, as we drove along,
you said just out of the blue,
that you’d be Grandma to me.
As if you spoke my own thoughts,
I grinned as wide as you could see.

Oh, once we got to be twins
in blazers you bought for us.
You knitted us two rainbow scarves
for walking in wintry air
or through the winds on the wharves.

You’ve been family to me,
all six relations in one.
How fun it would be to find
on genealogy sites
if we’re related for real.
No matter! It feels just right!

Grandpa was a Bowie.
A tight-lipped protestant Ulsterman
who drifted into the Poblacht na hÉireann
in search of a cure for his cold heart.

His thin lips wed a soft Catholic girl.
He joined the Garda Síochána settling down
to breed Kerry Blue’s. After he retired, he still
wore his uniform, his neck as stiff as ever.
Grandma wrote letters to the Pope
begging for Papal forgiveness
for her heathen husband.

I have not been to Hidalgo County,
but if I were one day to go, I might try
to convince the Daughters of the Alamo
of my credentials to be worshiped
in a mild, concessionary way.
A complimentary burger, a free pass
to the museum, a photograph
of myself brandishing a big knife
at a picture of Generalissimo Santa Anna
that would suffice.

"Poblacht na hÉireann" = Republic of Ireland (Éire).
"Ulster' (Northern Ireland).
"Garda Síochána" Is the Police Force of the Republic of Ireland.

Premium Member Time-Related Hardship

Speaking quite frankly, I must say,
The burden of time grows heavier each day.
Reason stares cruelly, but I can only view blankly.
Growing angrier, shortsighted, and cranky.

In the past three hundred and sixty-five days,
Each moment seems to bestow the weight that stays.
Tasks pile up, deadlines loom,
Tick-tock of the clock as impending doom.

Days turn to weeks, weeks turn to months,
And before I realize it, another year confronts.
I cannot escape it, no matter how I try.
The burden of time only multiplies.

My youth is long gone, never to return.
Anile age creeps in, and I start to yearn.
For the days when time seemed to fly by,
When life was simple, I didn't need to try.

But now, with each passing moment, I feel the strain.
The weight of my responsibilities drives me insane.

Astronomy Related To the Stars

While astronomy,
Is related to the stars;
Planets does include.

With trepidation,
Concentrated on remarks;
Effects that they had.

Am now close to death;
What to me matters the most;
Will be heaven bound.

Used dead reckoning
On typographical map,
To find destiny.

Umbilical cord,
Connects baby with the womb,
So life will begin.

Poems Related To War- Painful Facts

The causes of World War I,

factors such as political,
territorial
NATIONALISM,
and economic competition,
BENEFITS,
and not to let it ocur,
the breakdown of the balance of power
SUPERIORITY
as well as a series of diplomatic clashes
PRIDE

The causes of World War II

strong currents of revanchism in German politics,
PRIDE;
the worldwide economic crisis,
BENEFITS,
many people lost faith in democracy
and countries across the world
turned to authoritarian regimes,
and their ambitious and aggressive domestic and foreign policies
NATIONALISM

To those three peculiarities – NATIONALISM, PRIDE, BENEFITS,
we should also add two more today – OVER POPULATION that the earth cannot feed,
and CLIMATE CHANGE

What do you think the causes of World War III will be?
Well, no need to be a prophet to say what will happen
Now all those outcomes are visible in our time
Nevertheless,
The only thing that we want is
to live all around the world in peace
how can we manage to do that?
In the way one of the greatest leaders in history,
Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK said
“PEACE AT HOME, PEACE IN THE WORLD”

I Am Related To Adam

Jesus raised from the dead
The third day, and the promise
of Salvation was fulfilled.
Salvation only in Jesus a new
life now begin.

Because Jesus lives i can live also
This message of hope i hold firm
everyday. When it's good night and
bye, bye's on this side of life,
I will hear welcome my child enter
In, you're now here to stay.

When a loved one dies, it's only for
a moment.Reunion will come at last.
If our hope in Christ stands only in this life,
We will remain stressed out, miserable,
And hopeless, filled with hatred and strife.

Adam died first, and the order remains
The second Adam (Christ) died and was raised,
Everyone has to die because we are related to the
first Adam, but Christ died for my sins freely and
I have nothing to pay.

Salvation in Jesus, freely he gave
To all those who will come boldly and say.
Thank you for your blood that was shed.
And for all i have done, thanks for dying
In my stead.

From the eyes of a child
Like the rise of the Nile
Are brown rivers of soul and bold green chemistry.

Disobedient despite being scold
Never believing they'll get old
Creating cliques of tribal frenemy

New shoes Nikes or Tims painted white
worthy of slim boy girl fight
Running on black street growing ice cold

Fearless as the bullets fall
Silver gun tossed or lost
Like grey asphalt rose

From the eyes of a child
Once celebrated but not now
For cops and robbers no longer a game

Puberty is a dark cloud
Hanging stranger fruit found
Adults who train them never to blame.

Summer on the Farm
As Related By Britches
By:Tom Wright

Britches gets up early
To greet the breaking of dawn,
A stretch, a scratch,
And if sleepy, a yawn;

Old Elsie the cow
Anxiously awaits his pull,
He hopes when they’re done
His buckets near full;

Later he’ll throw
The chickens some scratch,
By then his mom will yell ”Pancakes”
And he’ll go eat a batch.

Tater peelings and buttermilk
Will make up scraps for the hog,
And while he’s at it
He’ll sail a biscuit to the dog.

Then with four buckles on
It’s off he goes to the silo,
For his fair entry’s ration
Of molasses and Milo.

The gate still needs fixin
On the property that they lease,
And his mother’s making pillows
So she’ll need down from the geese.

He’ll re-pen that Billy
And put the piglets with sow,
Fork hay in the mangers
And head out to plow.

He’ll spend untold hours
Following a mule named Blue,
Which causes me to ponder
Who was smarter of the two?

Britches next year graduates
Bringing news quite alarming,
That whatever life’s role
It would not include farming.

Woman Sues R.J. Reynolds Over Son's Tobacco-Related Death

it started

as fevered

bee sting

on tongue—

then lips

gone

like beaver-gnawed

tree stumps—

then the chin

till like

some ruined

Greek statue

you lay

still

awaiting

a new chance—

the planting

in warm earth

to grow again

Divinity Related To Trinity An Amenity

remember my Lord

body nailed to board

always can afford

worship in a horde

my ship with Lord in is moored

have heard what Lord is about
we will twist and shout

trouble in each chord
played by devil we deplored
even when we snored

know divinity
is related to trinity
an amenity

we have unity

Once upon a time
It just got cold and windy.
Now we have felt temperatures
Wind chills
Bombogenesis.

Snow days used to be fun.
NO SCHOOL…..YIPPEE!!!
We would ZOOM down the hills
On whatever would slide
Sleds, plastic “spinny” things,
Occasionally socks
Would replace wet mittens
Plastic bags would go over shoes
To allow easy entry to galoshes.
((Mom’s were magicians back then))

Snowballs were legal.
Snowmen were called….SNOWMEN.
Snow angels caused no controversy.
((Well, truth be told, I made a few snow devils))
((used one of the snowman’s arms for the horns))

For homework….
Tomato soup, Ritz crackers
A blanket and Howdy Doody.
((Damn, am I old))

Related and Syncopated

There are things which are related
While also some which are syncopated
And right on time being in the grove
Creating an experience which will move.

Music and poetry are highly related
And can be considered as consolidated
Which will end up in complete unison
And then end up starting over again.

Eventually your mind always does grow
And you will end up being in the know;
So you should read my poems and digest
To determine which one is the best.

Can you do something about it,

yes my common next door fellah,
Weigh you propensity,

if you can fill in even a portion,
you have done abit for heavenly mention.

AGAIN I HEARED THE TREMBLING NOTES

SOMEONE TOLD ME IT WAS A FUNERAL PROCESSION
I REGAINED STRENGTH FOLLOWED IT LIKE AN UNFORTUNATE TRAVELLER

WATCHING THE ROWS LISTENING THE MURMURS I SEARCHED
FOR AN ELEGIAC METRE
I EXPECTED AN UNNATURAL TWIST FROM BEGINNING TO END
SHE USED TO TELL ME SHE WELCOMED DEATH WITH AN AVENGEFUL THIRST
SITTING CLOSELY WITH HER MEASURING THE IMPULSES FROM HER HEART
I COULD HEAR "THE INTER RELATED THOUGHTS" THAT SHE ALWAYS CHERISHED
