I glanced out my window watchin' kids plod along to school today.
I recalled my school days and how things have changed along the way
I watched the little fellers hunched over with their over-loaded packs.
'Tis a wonder the little dudes don't develop a twitch in their sacroiliacs!

I wore overalls and shoes that I was told by Mom I'd better not scuff!
Nowadays, kids are sportin' Rebok shoes and all kinds of fancy stuff!
If they don't have the latest and greatest, they're bound to pitch a snit!
Appearances mean everything even to kindergartners, on the face of it!

To begin school in days of yore, I was required to supply a pot of glue,
Couple of No. 2 pencils with erasers, ruler, ink and a ruled pad or two.
Wrapped in a newspaper for lunch, a baloney sandwich and apple for a snack.
When my grandkids showed me their list of supplies, I nearly had a cardiac!

Included were - a backpack, Rigatoni noodles, crayons and composition books,
A cell phone, calculator, protractor and for reading, one of those fancy Nooks,
Facial tissues, scissors, a ruler, colored pencils, pencil sharpener and erasers,
Elmers glue, Ziploc bags, a ream of paper and plastic dividers to use as spacers!

One change of clothes in case of accident to include underwear, pants and socks,
Disinfectin' wipes, three-ring binders and a padlock for individual locker locks!
I am caused to pause and ponder how we "oldies" got a solid education,
Sans all the geegaws and fancy frills that are now required for graduation!

I met someone I know quite well, he gets about in cars, does buy and sell.
He spoke to me upon a theme, we were stirring coffee; I had just added my cream.
When (Fiat) money, he intoned..)
This word does it ring a bell?
Of it have you heard; or known, do tell.?
The cost of Fiat cars I then proclaimed'
No it’s of money I speak,he said if it’s all the same,
I had bought some autos and to me the word was told,
That it is money without collateral backing, that’s the truth stone cold!
So in this stressured contemporary rhyme, I think I must… It’s now high time
In fact a lack of sober views and action which did not ensue...
Control! ….. control!, "well they did not" now high (inflation) pop pop pops..!
Consume, consume they said and greed is good for all..!
Poor old Jim john and Doug..) Rachel, Joan and Queenie McCall..!
A dream was sold and lives were told, It’s Oh! so safe, more so than gold!
Now Fiat cash is on the scene, they run it off Oh! ream on ream
Just like my coffee encircling mug, so here’s to the truth lets give it a plug.
When I again pour in my cream,
as it begins to merge like inflations infusion, Maybe I’ll dream.
That financial fiasco’s and social screams are only rumours on a jittery theme,
However until "their problem" has been (sold), I’ll trade some paper cash for gold.

Transcendental

He enters into a deep trance
The soft music nudges him on
A lucid dreamer he is now
He gains transcendence
A soul travellor he is now
The secrets time and space
His to master his to explore
He has a taste of the divine
He is jolted back to our ream
His skin tingling with static

Premium Member Good-Bye, 2018

Another year is drawing to a close.
I sit alone reflecting on the life
I've loved and cherished for these many days
recalling every cause of joy and strife.

I think of all those walks I take near home
and thank God for the strength to walk each mile.
I praise Him for the town in which I live,
where I feel safe and neighbors wave and smile.

My friends and loved ones occupy my mind.
How little time I've spent with them! I vow
in two thousand nineteen, I'll see them more.
If I rely on Him, He'll show me how.

Reviewing conflicts of the waning year,
I think of how I sometimes played a part
in making matters worse. I cannot push
aside those thoughts that plague my troubled heart.

I have to ask forgiveness, for I know
			it's my responsibility to be
promoter of good will with everyone.
Beginning now, I’ll strive for harmony.

			My reminiscing would be incomplete
if I gave my church family no praise.
Next year, I still will be with them each week.
They are a blessing in so many ways.

To name each blessing of the year, I'd need
a ream of paper and a quart of ink.
I'd need to talk for days on end, but God
knows how I feel and everything I think.

Two thousand eighteen soon will breath its last
as I am thanking God for joy and health,
for all the seasons, and for giving me
more than I need--in my opinion, wealth.

A Sinner's Prayer

Oh Lord, I am selfish but no fish I sell
A true believer I am though I’m an outlaw,
I’m your truant Christian;
Every day, I fear to wake up on knees.
I am a sinner in your eyes, Lord!

Oh Lord, humanitarian I never lose the dream.
Huge work, I hate on a day of Sunday.
On a sunny day, stings I stuck on his path.
As I was passing at church to pray.
Yet, a ream of sins I bore in your beam.

At church, on knees, I sat and stood.
For hugely inferior I humbly trapped him.
Thorns and hurdles, he stood in with no food.
Fearless, asylum with no plum I seek here,
Lord, in your sacred title, hide me as a sinner.

Pardon pour on me profusely, Lord!
Those bleeding inside and outside leave alone.
But still, keep your ears on me here melt in May,
Forget those moaning and yelling for caused groan.
In your castle, Lord, tilts and alms I’ll pay while knelt.
For I am your Christian, my Lord.

Awashed out from shore tempest tossed in the night
Behold sands once golden fade from sight
Alone I must plumb the depths of my sorrow
No one to be with if there is a tomorrow
Drenched are my spirits, a dark heavy toll
Overwhelmed is my vacant aching soul
No compass not guide nor north star above
Exiled into a land of dark clouds, no white dove
Dream sweetly my dear, my life, my love

Ream After Ream

Ream After Ream

What I have written was ream after ream
Of good poems which I rated as supreme
Of such great quality could hardly find
In any imagination of a normal mind.

When I wrote this it was at midnight
After sleeping tow hours with all my might
Suddenly I awoke and each poem was there
Appearing incredible and beyond compare.

Many can't make any sense of them at all
And to others are outrageous or may appall
While I wondered how much effort it took
To arrange poems so they could become a book.

Was struck by awe while my eyes opened wide
My new poems did come out from deep inside
Me, myself and as hard as I definitely did try
Wanted to complete poems before I would die.

For writing my poems, I have this great thirst
And even if it is for better or absolute worst
Every day I keep trying to pave the way
For nice things about my poems thou shalt say.

It's imperative to alter the narrative,
so get out a round of ream.
There's a knot in the plot,
a lost theme with out a seam..
You pause and you pivot.
The script leaves you livid,
falling short of your dream.
Stopped, stalled between acts,
little time to retrack,
as your pen is running out of steam.

a perfect choice to quell the fates in upright position
but, if reversed, be prepared for domestic admonition.

in the misty aura surrounding elements of Tarot divination
the sign of Sagittarious embraces Temperance in manifestation

The Great Lakes - Part One

Pellucid pearls in northeastern North America
since planetary birth
Comprise Lakes Superior, Michigan, Huron,
Erie, and Ontario dearth
Largest group of freshwater lakes on Earth
Straddle Canadian–United States border
tethering partial global girth
Constituting 21% of world's surface
fresh water species hearth
Total surface equals 94,250 square miles
And total volume equals
5,439 cubic miles immeasurable worth.

Lake Erie from Erie tribe, abridged form
of Iroquoian word erielhonan “long tail”
Lake Huron named by French explorers
for Wyandot or “Hurons” whence they did sail
Lake Michigan likely from Ojibwa word mishigami
“great water” aka outsize gold quail
Lake Ontario i.e. “Lake of Shining Waters”
shimmering like hammered coat of mail
Lake Superior coined from French
“lac supérieur” "upper lake", an emerald watery dale
Ojibwe people called it gitchigumi medicinal
to cure that, which might ail.

These five lakes each reside in separate basin
Form a single, naturally interconnected body
of fresh water caisson
Linking east-central interior of North America
to Atlantic Ocean akin to an escutcheon.

From interior to outlet at St. Lawrence River,
Water flows via Superior to Michigan-Huron
southward to Erie to avoid a shiver
Finally released northward to Lake Ontario
as like a well taut archer with his quiver.

The lakes drain a large watershed via many rivers
as an Olympic team
Populated with approximately 35,000 islands
this estimate not x stream.

The Great Lakes region contains
many thousands of smaller lakes,
Often called inland lakes undulating
in cascading analogous to a fluid ream
Lake Michigan the only one located
entirely within United States
While the others border between
United States and Canada – essentially a liquid seam.

Can You Surrender To Love

Can you surrender to Love so complete
So utterly now sense slips into sleep
So quietly sane not caring for thought
Be free of minds grip and all it has wrought
Can you silence beliefs, desires and dreams,
All fears and doubts that continue to ream
And fall within to be consumed by Love
To share Nature's gifts and fly with the dove.
Can you surrender to Love past will be
No longer controlling of you and me
No future to worry leave at time’s gate
To exist in this moment, life’s estate.

Will you surrender to love so to set
Your beloved free right from the get
No more shackles or bonds, human and whole
Dancing with Life and melodic with soul.
Will you settle free of anger and blame
Tribe and nation or religion and shame
Freeing our children from all the above
They are all our children, free them to Love.
Will you surrender to love seize the key
The key you were born with for us to be
Our own True self spirit body and mind
The resonance that holds for all mankind.

When you surrender to Love, to be still
No puppet to ego nor grist for mill
To see your life’s stories and all of that
To love them the same, they are your begat.
When veils fall swiftly and grace gives birth
Clarity is yours and you will rock with mirth
For Love abounds and is not tied to worth
Instead flowing open inclusive of Earth.
When you surrender to Love you will find
Astonishment there in a peace sublime
For all that is ever was and will be
You hold in your heart so simply be thee.

Tears

Overflowing like the sparkling spring from acerbity,
The emerald stones on the relieve peak
Causing welling up like stormy waves,
 And breath taking halt, grunting
 Roar as the thundering drums reverberating;
The window pout unfold a feature
 As when open wide,
 Spoilt by the joyful loudness of croaking;
 Grief lips drawn taut
 Drop spreading flow,
Drop to wash the ripe Apple cheeky, drop
And meandering through grooves and porous ream
 Obstacles of pendants and pillars;
Conclusively arrived, making the jugular waterfall,
 Cascading into sea of tears.

 True, men do not weep
 That bespeaks Hercules vaunting ego,
 But, I thank you sir,
Often they sob now or before
 Not for unfaithful heart breaks
 For loves aplenty,
Not often loves for not excusing
In passing by to greater beyond,
But on lucrative dear deal that sore gone,
 On capital fretted away
 On good look in,
 But crash without remorseful pity
The masculine effeminately swim in river of tears.

Strokes of wipes to back from savage master
The oppressive bully to hapless youth,
Which draws livid reddish lines picture
And rabid yell of agony on twisted mouth,
 When puerile little lad yelp
 Could be for appeasing breast
 But, definitely not for help,
Could lustfully be warmth of mama’s arms,
Things we’re n't aware but peradventure leg to arms
 Or nothing, whichever way,
 Their stubborn screaming suggest
Ways of impuissant expressing unanswered request.

Tears of gladness
 Moved to elevating joy,
To see again long time lost love,
Surely for ages and time agone
 Surprising hugs with all kisses,
 Dearest who aforethought cross beyond
 But now you are prospering.
