An Evening with Poet friends
9/13/2023
Really, sharing fully is nothing new to me.
Just want all to dive in without a bit of hesitation.
Splashing like shiny, rainbowed fish and express
The rays-of our shiny, unique individuality.
I only wish, a few of us were in a room together.
You’d read us your divine, poetic creations.
Teas, lemon, coffees, and hors dourves….
No strangers, just caring, close poet friends.
You are invited to bring, fresh, baked sensations.
I will provide plaid throws, as the Autumn winds blow.
So bring your delicacies and unique poetry..
A poetry evening, where all shall be honored!
Declared winners and stunning sensations.
While the warmth of joyful, appreciation burns!

As we gathered in the coast guard station
There was a feeling of sheer elation
The outpouring of emotion
no longer a notion
Poems of love anger rage and devotion
were read to an aspiring crowd
The words flowed in this artistic abode
amid the backdrop of the ocean
A perfect setting for a poetry wetting
listening to the words in motion
The food and wine were just divine
were just divine
hearts and minds entwined
filled to the brim our every whim
Purely a joyous occasion.

Senior Center Poetry Readings
You put forth effort and then tried hard
Yet you may often be caught off guard
From spring, summer, fall into winter
Like going to your local Senior Center.
Idea of own adopted one that is their
People for poetry reading actually care
And even if read is really their own too
While others wait around to hear a few.
Liked my poems from first time I read
Down path of confusion were never led
Any lover of poems as well as literary
Are glad senior center resembles a library.
Lovers of poetry selected Center instead
And after that many hearers have said
Why not allow each local people to speak
At a Center poetry reading once a week.
Not a bad idea, if I don't say so myself.

I have a cup full of tea leaves
that my story, it is suppose to
hold.
I don't know if I believe this
but the cup is lovely enough
I should at least listen as it is
told.
Gripped tightly the handle was
as it was spun around.
Stopping on a drip as the tea
leaves settle without ever the
slightest sound.
Lovely scent of tea is in the air
and even though the aroma is
sweet. I am wondering what is
written in there.
A heavy question stayed in tow.
Should I stay? or Should I go?

One night each week, we courting couples meet
to share our poetry and chat a while.
This time we’ll all enjoy a special treat.
Romantic sonnets sure to make us smile
and swoon will be recited in grand style.
Though not part of the beatnik “misfit” crowd,
we’re nonconformists--in just one respect.
Our venue is a grassy field! We’re proud
to have this spot that many would reject,
this place where kindred spirits can connect.

life readings
body leaking
odor reeking
death speaking
mistakes riddled with teachings
star reaching
foreseeing
far seeking
outer space intelligent beings
come close and listen
my soul is cosmic car driven
get my meaning
you feel me
hot freezing
cold heating
been busted cheating
really dude
how rude
you deserve a attitude beating
altitude feeling
god peeking
dog peeping
what the f... is this guy thinking
rhyming with no apparent reason
perhaps it's the changing of the seasons
like playing poker
with drunk derelict demons
I just talk with poetic freedom
and a little bit of walking wisdom
the rest is pure stand still nonsense

Just like a weasel living life as a scavenge
I’m sure just like he it’s not as he would have planned it
And with patrol shifts going out to all the giants and talls
They sure use their big britches to control us their fellow smalls
I’ve educated my self in history of war and treaties
Why it’s unhumbling to see history just repeating
Down at my hands now old ones new
The choices I’ve made created their lines and grooves
Smack dab out of the toxicity
Dropping and falling repeatedly and repeatedly
And when I hit the grounds bottom
I bounce back right up to the top
And there’s no time to get your footing stuck on such
Because around around the wheel continues and turns
Its only at your end your allowed to get off

Can you tell me
How I can see
Truth and beauty
Can you then show
The cause of flow
When all seems slow
Can you then cite
The words to write
That do not bite
Can you sign here
Worth that feels dear
In spite of fear
Can you help ploys
To bring fond joy
In kind employ
Can you fund fun
In style and pun
When syntax runs
Can you reverse
What lines observe
As rhymes converse
Can you feed zest
In wordy quest
In hungry fest
Can you be nice
To add some spice
Not critic vice
Can all things good
Fill lyric food
As desserts mood
Can each wordplay
Upon our stay
Spring wholesome say

Rich rapture reaps
Taste timely trip
Readings rouse room
Bright blessings bloom
Tale trumpets trace
Seek sanguine space
Faith frames fine face
Ponder prompt pace
Wonder works write
Cheer channels cite
Claim clever cheer
Seek sublime seer
Notice new notes
Route richer rotes
Buoyant brew bites
Work well wise writes
Readings reach right
Scan superb sights

I latest piece is too long the poem section - so it's in "Short Stories."
It's called "the writers." I could shorten it - but why? *shrug*

sagacious woman
psychic healer and reader
lovely predictions
silver crossed her palm
people waited in long lines
her readings a joy
her children waited
hoping for her attention
they are still waiting

There was a day set aside for the wedding
but the groom was very much dreading
it would be the same day
his grand final would play
and that’s where it looked it was heading
Alas his worst fears came true
So what was he s’posed to do?
Change the date
he’d marry his mate
or send a substitute to say “I do”?
Of course, that could be done covertly
The team had done it before with Curtley
but if the bride found out
she’d give him a clout
and the next month he’d spend inertly
So I hope we have the real groom today –
shame on his mates for staying away
but he stayed away too
when best man for Stew
and the ladies can still throw the bouquet
The bride is also very fond of her sport
loving a good tussle on field and on court
It’s clear and plain
she knows Glen’s pain
and she’s the kind and compassionate sort
This wedding’s been the perfect storm
The bride’s team’s in awesome form
Today’s their final too
So what’s Jane s'posed to do?
Miss it, or follow the wedding norm?
I’m sorry the groom’s grumpy and pre-occupied
but the final’s on now and he’s not in the side
but Jane empathizes
with his sacrifices
having hired a substitute bride!

With you here
I live cheer
A fine range
Of change strange
Joy swirls sad
Glad twirls mad
With your smile
Feel love style
A new day
Feel fond play
Dream come true
That's my you
With your touch
Grand seeds much
A deep feel
Grooms fine will
In your eyes
Grace leaps high
With each read
Poise now seeds
A kind tint
Hints new mint
With a choice
Love prompts voice

POETS
Desert dust before the rain hampered our walk
on the Oregon floor
boards creaked with late afternoon lore
Dry gin in a glass waiting
it wanted to bubble like champagne
but there was nothing to babble about
A rake for an unworked farm
listened for fractals
Tesla said he was not available
today
Ears with a mop of white hair
detective with his magnifying glass
he thought of making love to a
young African maiden
she came for the cheese and drinks
not the poetry
he changed his mind
in case she wanted his property too
A thick skinned peach arrives
nourishing seed
sugar salt and cinnamon sticks
she was not about to offer anybody lifts
To hell with this poetry thing
I want to be rich oozed from her brain stem
Wooden baton
rich gravied marrow
gurgled a verse through throttled container
One-eyed pond
there were mosquitoes to be uncovered
or a tadpole or two
Maybe
the mud was sufficiently thin
Such strange creatures, these poets
Gingerbread woman
hot from the oven
offering the sanctity of materiality
she appeased our hunger
with a jaunty hat
What do I think, the ego asked the ego
No thoughts arrived
What do you think, the ego asked Soul
I do not think
I feel oceanic passion
as the rain mutes the dust
beneath the poets’ feet

Words on the brink
Merge beyond think
Words seem to feel
That touch can heal
Readings ply lines
That feel inclines
Not much to say
In mad array
Joy seeds a frown
When cheer meets clown
Too much of noise
Ferments new voice
Mad verse can teach
Such unknown reach
Prize in bold jest
That awkward test
Readings forge things
From savvy flings
