Premium Member Serendipity: A Bank Teller’s Tale

had I woken with that headache
then I would have stayed in bed
but because I felt much better
I got up for work instead.

had I got there any later
then it would have been my loss
as I would have missed arriving
at the same time as my boss.

had my boss not turned to ask me
if I'd help him out that day
I'd have missed out serving people
at a bank two miles away.

had I sat behind that counter
any later than I showed
I'd have never counted takings
from the sports hall down the road.

had that customer not mentioned
playing football on that night
my leg would not have broken
taking one year to put right.

because I went to hospital
(on that day that changed my life)
I met a nurse while on the ward
- and she became my wife!

CHASING FOOTPRINTS

Some feet are bigger than others
none bigger than those
left by your brothers -
that you tried to fill.

The foot that Dad
would put “right up ‘ur ****”
and the one Mom said
you must put forward.

The meter and feet
we poetically treat
in attempt to conform
to rhythm and beat.

One foot we must
“take out of our mouth”,
while trying to get
“one foot in the door”.

Footprints that litter
the sands of our mind
that cannot be followed
by looking behind.

The foot of the stairs
the foot of the bed
the footsteps of night
the footsteps of dread.

Huge footprints of carbon
Al Gore and his ilk
charging the cows
for the grass to make milk.

One foot on the gas
One foot on the brake
one looking to give
one looking to take.

So don’t judge the size
or the depth of the root
nor measure the soul
by the size of the boot.

Premium Member The Railway Lines

how many of you
wonder how
you find yourself
where you are now
on some fast train
that's shooting by
the world outside
and don't know why
and wishing as
it takes the bend
before it reaches
journey's end
that it would stop
to let you breathe
and disembark
then watch it leave
so you could turn
and walk right back
to all those stations
on your track
to see those places
on your list
that life's timetable
somehow missed
and walk those junctions
where you spent
time deciding
ways you went
and pull the lever
switching lines
so that they point
to better times
and open gates
that shut back then
so all your dreams
are free again
to help put right
those signal fails
you blamed when life
came off the rails?

each day we grow
we come to learn
time's just one way
with no return
but though we can't
change all before
we get to know
life's journey more
and had you changed
the way you are
your train may not
have got this far
for each dark tunnel
lived each day
led out to light
here anyway
but while those platforms
from your past
might well explain
your travelling fast
remember too
that grass unseen
grows right here now
and just as green
where taking time
might help you plan
some other route
whereby you can
move from that seat
to change your view
and learn to love
yourself as you
appreciating
all you see
before Grand Central's
destiny
while knowing hope
faith luck and care
helped drive that train
to get you there.

Mother Nature - Not Amused

Oceans, woods, abused, confused!
Mother nature not amused!
Her bellies aching.
Mistakes we're making!
Time pollution was defused!

There is an old man of the ocean,
To marine life is his devotion.
We have to put right,
Marine waters plight.
Or suffer our own devolution!

Ramadan Mubarak With Eid Ul Zuha

RAMADAN POEM :
The Month of Blessings and Happiness :
Muslims around the world cheer,
Allhamduillah,Ramdan is here!
Ramadan is a month whose beginning is Mercy, whose middle is forgiveness,And whose end is freedom from the fire(Hell).
Ramadan is an occasion when mercy descends like the rain.
Ramadan Increases your iman (Faith) and also Taqwah(Piety).
So good deeds can increases and bad ones can wane.
A time of great Blessing in which to repent
Fasting for Allah is a Great Muslim Deed,
Controlling Desires and suppressing Greed,
Fasting is one of the Gift of Allah
Whose Reward is only Given to Muslim By Allah.
Ramadan also increase Taqwah (Piety).
We Recite Holy Quran,we fast & we pray.
It is a short interval in which a devil are confined.
So we can fast forward instead of rewind.
We think of good deeds that we can do each day .
We speak nice words and we pay zakah (charity) to the poor and needy people.
We go to the Masjid for the prayer of Taraweeh,
Knowing that the Masjids of Allah are some of the best place to be,
Hidden in this month is the special Night of Power named night of Qadr.
In it the acceptance of Allah will shower.
How unfortunate is the one who lets this moment slip
For it is equivalent to a thousand months of worship
By the end of Ramdan, this whole chain will be all gone,
Its time For Eid ul zuha and lots of fun!!!
At the end we will pray that
May Allah give us the strength and patience to fast,
During the whole month of Ramadan.
Accepts all our fasts,Duas and all our Ibadah.
Give us the opportunity to Worship Allah during the Night of Qadr,
And help us to continue the good deeds during the whole remaining months.
We pray to Allah to put Right our Hearts;
Ask for forgiveness From Allah And make a new start,
Raising our Hands we ask for His “Rahmaa”
Hear us our Lord And Grant us “Jannah”.

Premium Member Our Changing World

We live in a changing world
even within our own lifetime
so much has not remained same
nobody's safe with so much crime

God created this world for good
so man could enjoy its fruit
but sinful man's ruined it all
with evil and selfishness it's root

There's no respect for man or beast
profit fills man's heart as number one
youngsters don't respect the elderly
so chaos reigns everywhere bar none

What God must think of this
looking down from heaven above
at all the mess it's become
breaking His heart of sovereign love

But His judgement is approaching
it seems so very near
when wrongs are put right
then God will reign that is clear

Lungs of the World

Smoking is banned in public places
God designed us to breathe fresh air
Evolution says the strongest will win
The circle of life with forests, we share.

But we know better than omnipresent design
We can tax all those stepping out of line
The tax will put right all that is bad
And make governments rich, but not care, it is sad.

Man cannot live without the fresh air
The planet will die without some real care

We rape and we gouge the rainforest for gain
The lungs of the world, the forests in rain
Each hectare gone, a species extinct
The rich will get richer our fresh air can stink

Man cannot live without the fresh air
The planet and we will die without care.

The forests breathe in our carbon dioxide
A waste product from breathing from life the world wide
Our forests through photosynthesis
Convert it to oxygen, so we can live.

A child born in a world without any air
Will die straight away, there’s no one to care.

Stop the rape and the pillage of a the world we once knew
Let the climate re-grow itself can renew
Not taxes for man to make governments rich
Put back the forest our climate enrich.

There is no birth, no death, no rich, and no poor
As the lungs of our world die, we are no more.

Peace comes to show us how to live,
Apt that fond light that shines so bright;
Love as you know starts when you give,
Move souls to sight wholeness put right.

Start with fine grace that spreads endow,
Use cheer to free both heart and mind;
Niche time and space where joy lives now,
Dwell what will be dear soul you find;

Ask faith to mint splendour most plain,
Yonder the load on donkey's back.
Aid hope to sprint yet not in vain,
Note humble road that cuts some slack.

Opt faith and hope to sculpt fine tact,
Vouch for the way true love brings grace;
Etch wonder's scope to greet strange fact,
Reap thus this day a timeless pace;

Treat sacred feel in pulse primal,
Urge crowds to be in-sync with good;
Reach prompt goodwill yet primeval,
End as you see with your wise mood.

The Kitchen Fitter

The Kitchen Fitter
As the wire set alight I cursed his low born name
Then he hit me with a bill and I said you go to hell.
To court he did take me, to pay he was going to make me.

The first appearance was a joke, the judge in squash shorts and a coat
He wanted time to read the papers thoroughly through and through

The kitchen fitter looked smug, but I said just watch your mug
He said, you will have to pay and I told him, no, no way
I said if you do proceed you will greatly regret this deed

The fitter laughed as he told me that he could have bought and sold me
But in court I was to have the last laugh on him.

I stood there and defended my reason not to pay
The judge looked bored to him this was just another day
I said that it’s a crime and for it the fitter should do time
And a counter case I proceeded to relay
Just ask the low born fitter what bad parts he used that day

I began.
It is a criminal offence to take to court on some pretence
When you know that you don’t really have a claim
So I turned the tables on him, and the judge demanded to know
Hey you kitchen fitter, just what do you think is your game?
I proclaimed that he used faulty parts and that he knew it
And as the fire started their defence was gone because the fuses blew it
The judge decreed that I must succeed and he did proceed
To throw out the spurious claim for pay

I then related quietly that he had kept me up nightly
wondering how to put right the dubious work he did on that day.

The judge looked at me and he said oh I can guarantee
That the kitchen fitter will now be the one to pay
There will be compensation and I make a declaration
That if he comes before me in any shape or form again

Not only will he pay but he’ll come to rue the day
That he ever set foot in this court and your name tried to defame.

Missing 'Link'

I first met him in July, seventeen years later
I was shocked to see how much he looked like his maternal uncle
So nothing like me except, maybe, the eyes...yeah, the eyes
"Hi, Alex, I'm Jim." We shook hands and I pulled him into an "ambush" hug
"You can blame your aunt for this", I whispered in his ear
"She made me PROMISE that I would" I said out loud
We jabbered like two magpies the 60 miles home
I started to realize we had many of the sames tastes AND views
We had never known each other; I was never involved in his development
His mom and stepfather were my polar opposites in every aspect
Somehow, two divergent paths had met in the middle to find so much common ground
I started to realize my absence hadn't done as much damage as I had thought
He was cool about it... he put me at ease... he was already a man!
He met the rest of my crazy clan over the next 12 days and survived them all
He seemed, to me, like he had found some sort of missing link in his life
Like some puzzle piece had been put right
He vowed to return permanently after graduation, and he really means it
He also vowed to have his first name legally changed to "Link" upon turning 18
A truer Zelda fan I've not met
I am still trying to get used to it, but I support it 100%
We chat at least weekly via the internet, making small talk here and there
It fills some of the void, but it's not enough.......

      And I find myself......
                                   Missing Link..............

Premium Member Man's Responsibility

Mankind's place within society
to be the family's ultimate head
ruling and reigning with authority
this the scripture have clearly said

The woes of today's society
are seen when we look back
as man has relinquished responsibility
and refuses to keep on track

They've allowed women to take over
to sit in man's authoritative place
this is not the divine position
ordained at creation of human race

The world's woes and troubles
will never be put right
till man accepts divine instruction
to do what God says is right

A Daddies Best Daughter

Laughing and leaping, as free as the air
Pink winged ponies, a tatty brown bear
A palace of crystal, hidden under the stair
Imaginary friends with adventures to share

A make believe waltz in a blue ballroom dress
A tiara and wand make a fairy princess
Poor puss in the pram makes his unseen egress
Under the bed…..a terrible mess!

The dolls house, a scene of domestic disaster
Tigger was poorly, put right with a plaster
An overnight friend set’s off nocturnal laughter
Such are the ways of a Daddies best daughter

Good Question

Good Question

This is my 40 lines in 40 minutes poem.

How did I start off my morning today
It was the very same and usual way
Turned on coffee pot the did my business
Sat on toilet to be sure I would not miss.

Soon another neat poem started typing
After my mental complaining and griping
Then my coffee I clumsily started to pour
Put right amount of creamer in was sure.

Placed back in fridge after some stirring
Again petted cat after hearing it purring
Drank coffee warm cup that had been hollow
Of course were more poems closely to follow.

Typing poems up have found it hard to do
After I read each line through and through
To see if errors are persistent and consistent
Before to my efforts they became resistant.

Horrors!!! Typing my poems up must be done
Which really to me never ever has been fun
Once you did see my display of dexterity
You would have much hilarity from my disparity.

Might not ever discover any connection at all
Was just like a newborn taking its first bawl.
Which later was turned into a frequent howl
Then after that on face soon saw a scowl.

When duty does call, it always has bad timing
Right in the middle of a poem I was rhyming
Hope poem doesn't take a literary, literal dive
And will survive and become part of an archive.

To read each line of poem never need to be afraid
Promise you by many received a passing grade
Even was recently read by an individual invalid
Who continued to read it like everyone else did.

Poem is presently being presented to a panel
Who literary science want to place in an ****
In case they find another fool willing to read
Thoughts that only a moron may ever need.

And two hours to type it up. Oh, and don't
know if you like my poems or not but God
made me write this one anyway so bare up.

Emerald Eyes

Sparkle
to opals do they lend
shine
to emeralds they offend

exude
the missive they can send
glow
despair they often mend

burnish
surpass and do not bend
heal
put right before the end
