For to me to live is Christ
here the apostle Paul speaks in faith
showing who he believes upon
this true confession he indeed saith
What does this mean for you?
where is Christ in your life?
give the highest place to the Lord
where God cuts through His knife
Hold not to the pleasures of life
for it can't satisfy your inner being
the spirit within seeks to fill
revealing the Lord in full agreeing
Keep close to the Lord God
live for Him before all else
knowing death will be such gain
receiving heavens done so well!
" For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain."

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
I can bear these burdens of a life that I can't see.
With His loving arms to bear me up above life's raging sea.
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

In this world full of anxieties
there seems no way of escape
our minds so full of anxious worry
this world has lost all its shape
In the midst of these times
God calls us to take a listen
to be hearing Him and His word
speaks resoundingly to the Christian
Don't be anxious about anything
yes you heard right truly anything
there's no need to for God's in control
so then keep your heart joyful and sing
Come to the Lord with thankful hearts
get on one's knees and faithfully pray
bring all your requests to the triune God
be ever thankful for every blessed day
So you see there's no need to worry
God has it all under His sovereign will
He's the creator and sustainer of all things
praise His name knowing your heart is still
' do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.'

The apostle Paul gave this exhortation
that as believers learn to rejoice
whether in our heart or with verbal shout
sound off with inner or outer voice
This rejoicing must be focused upon
the Lord God and truly Him alone
for He’s worthy of all our praise
as only this Lord our sins did atone
This Lord is our mighty saviour and redeemer
making Himself the perfect sacrifice for sin
only He was good enough to pay the price
that to heavens door we can fully enter in
The Lord sticks close with us
through all of life and more
His ear hears our faintest cry
grants His grace forever at our door
So rejoice always continually
to the Lord alone be the glory
for He’s done all things well
this is our ongoing eternal story
('Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. ' 2 Corinthians 13: 11 (ESV)
' Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.') Philippians 4: 4 (ESV)

In reading one of my favourite books
God spoke of not to get hemmed in
with the cares of life with its demands
for it'll eventually punch you in the chin
This book written by puritan Thomas Watson
entitled the art of divine contentment
speaks of contentment as real and true
something that hit me in astonishment
It showed how Paul the apostle knew this
in all of his struggles he experienced this art
God truly spoke that for me this could be
that His real peace and presence is His heart
A few years ago as I began my retirement
reading this God inspired book for third time
as I learned more of God's mind and truth
of being content whether with much or a dime
So my retirement gave opportunity to things new
read write and enjoy beauty of God's creation
such a blessing feeling God's fresh air
as He directs me to my life station
Thankfulness to God is His due
for His wonders to us He does bring
leading and guiding by His words
so to our God we know to cling
('Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.' )

The apostle Paul God's holy servant
addresses God's chosen holy people
speaking with true royal authority
looking to God from His holy steeple
God here speaks to His very own
all of those God regards as saints
draped in the shed blood of Christ
the righteous badge God has known
The people of God are His elect
chosen before the world began
in faith endowed with divine righteousness
God's blessing put on sinful man
For this sin, God sent His beloved son
to be the sacrifice our sin to atone
on the cross, Jesus paid the price
acceptable to God who accepts no clone
God's word speaks of the holy necessity
without holiness, no one shall see the Lord
every unholy being God will reject
make sure your sins are under His sword
("Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus,
To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the overseers and deacons:
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.")

The truest evidence of real humility
is displayed in Christ Jesus the God man
who followede His own scripture counsel
ambitious conceited self must life ban
Willfully giving others your full count
holding to self no good thing
put others interests before your own
true displaying godliness this do bring
This God like mind comes from Christ
receive in Christ Jesus only for you
to show your real uniting in God's son
been created in Him brand new
Though Jesus was God in human flesh
not holding His God like image so tight
made his reputation loose as a servant
giving birth in human form this His plight
This humility shown in it's purest form
by sacrificing self to death's final point
even to the agony of a crucifying cross
Christ in truest humility did God anoint
('Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.')

Work out your own salvation
for it is God who worketh in you.
It is in His good pleasure
both to will and to do.
You always obeyed my commandments
while my face you could see.
Now your faith must be stronger
since I am no longer with thee.

Be careful for nothing in this world of sin,
but in everything give Him thanks within.
Let your requests be known to your Father above
by prayer and supplication and a heart filled with love.

And the peace of God be with you each day
beyond understanding in each and every way.
May your hearts and minds be strong in His love,

Here the apostle Paul speaks to exhort
the beloved of the Lord to be his light
for this world needs the living gospel
God's His own to obedience so right
The Lord's free gift of salvation has a price
Jesus paid that price on Calvary's cross
His obedience there for us to follow on
to neglect His inspired word is our loss
Remember God works in you looking on
so you need your salvation to be at work
in fear and trembling to be like Jesus
be workers for the Lord never to shirk
May your marks be without blemish
as blameless and innocent children of God
to shine God's light deep into this world
hold fast to God's word unite in sweet accord
Rejoice and be glad to be in Christ
look to the day of Christ and be proud
to be a sacrificial offering of faith
be faithful always so to Christ abound
("Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me.")

Humanity is filled full of self
always wanting to be number one
such folly is plain to see
for those enlightened by God's son
God warns us of ambitions self
being conceited and uncaring
this does us no good at all
for we should always be sharing
Sharing ourselves and all we have
showing humility to those we meet
giving them truly first place
bowing our hearts to all we greet
Look out for others interests
not thinking always of our own
be concerned of their life and soul
for God wants His love to be shown
So be sure to kill off self
cutting it down at its root
making Christ's glory your aim
bear His traits always foot by foot
AUTHOR NOTES: "Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests but also for the interests of others." ~ Philippians 2:3-4

I am looking at the perils of retirement.
Retirement will not be the end of the road.
The road now leads to a new beginning.
A beginning of a rebirth of some kind.
Some kind of a new version of myself.
For myself, I have a tendency to rush to finish tasks.
My tasks now can focus on other areas of my life.
Life is giving me a chance not to be anxious about anything.
Anything and everything I wake up to will be a present.
A present from the Lord, because he hears my prayers.
Prayers give me peace that safeguards my heart.
My heart and mind belong to Christ Jesus.

Learn well to live a life of pleasing
to God and the blessed Christ His son
not just to the pleasure of man
but go circumspectly forever to run
Show your life in a worthy manner
that Christ's gospel would appeal
so whoever would look upon you
would see Christ as the real deal
Be sure to be always standing firm
filled constantly with holy spirit divine
having one mind striving for the faith
fear not the opposition, be sure to shine
God has called His elect to be strong
believe and suffer indeed for Christ's sake
this a clear sign for those Christ rejecters
they'll face a real condemnation quake
This is the same conflict as Paul
spoke of in His epistles centuries before
God's people still march to heavens door
looking to Christ's open arms evermore
("Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear sign to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God. For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake, engaged in the same conflict that you saw I had and now hear that I still have.")

God as our heavenly father reigns
for He is God alone like no other
His son, God has exalted high above
for Jesus is God, to look no further
God's only begotten son Jesus Christ
has received from His father a name
one that is above every other name
to be high overall fulfills God's name
At this great and awesome name of Jesus
every knee in heaven, earth, and beyond
shall bow before Him who's God's son
knowing His greatness, they will respond
Then every tongue in heaven and earth
will without any doubt surely confess
that Jesus Christ himself is Lord
so God be glorified in holiness
This is promised in the future
that every eye will see the King
dressed in purity full of glory
all the saints forever will sing
(" Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.")
