My Poetry Defines Me

Shower of autumn leaves and acorns,
And rustling sound as I stroll.
Those mesmerising bubbles all-round,
As I dive in the pool.
And also, when, looking into his eyes,
Silently, I can walk thousand miles.

Yes! This is the poetry to me.
The power to see the unseen!

A lady dressed in pink, in my sight.
With complementing accessory soaked in glittery white.
And my heart fondly admires,
Wow! That blushing pink charmer!
Just like an innocent pearl in an oyster.
Adorning beautiful pearl in white,
Gracefully gleaming bright!
And also, when I see those young, tanned lads,
Completely soaked in mud.
And, scaring me, with their thud.
Then, smiling broadly to show their set of teeth.
Oh! I love them, they are all sweet!

Yes! This is the poetry to me.
It definitely beautifies my thoughts!

When I see my friend upset.
Without even a word, I know his mindset.
Slipping quietly my hand on her hand.
I can feel her with my inner strength.

Yes! This is the poetry to me.
It teaches me to empathise.

When I am low
Poetry raises me back, to glow!
When my confidence begins to retire.
Poetry gives me the strength to fight like fire!

Yes! This is the poetry to me.
Always by my side to support me.

Poetry hones in me, a better orator,
As it makes me, a better expresser.
Yes! It helps me to build my character.
My poetry is me!

An Oyster Out of Water

I once lived on the Ocean's floor
and then I was harvested, and
left upon it's shores.

Even though I was made of rugged
apparel, signs are left within me
that shows I once made precious
pearls.

Once hidden by the Sea and now
the world can see my mystery.
I dress up gardens and flower
boarders. A new life for an Oyster
out of water.

Premium Member Oyster Roast

The clumps are placed atop the grate
And fire is lit below.
Soon steam will form in empty space.
The process seems too slow.
While tender morsels slowly roast
The beer and coke flows free.
Camaraderie is displaced,
when open shells you see.

Oyster

the salt sweats into the flung spray
the stirred spume of the waters
twining the molecules of the morning's
     gaze
to windward it lazily plays
  like the woman's electric touch
   the dawn touching the enlivening
    day

the oxygens come evident through the languidly, scented
  haze

sitting curled atop the dabbled cover, sipping coffee

with rhythmic grace she bends, sending
skin and fascination within her stretching, seeming
   form
in deep quiddity and fire

like the Gulf's thick air, she fills my dry lungs
like the salt she sends to my eyes

to sights delicious in the tides of the night
spent, the sensed yen
spooned loose on salted
meat

like water that
pulls across bone white
sand

rolling, turning, roping into
warm, green depths
again

steps lightened with release
the morning sweet in its suspension of
  abiding
   unease

long limbs settled fine. rubbers and lipstick lines
indulge and dine on the purer pleasures
   of the tree

the woman, the salt, the blending skin, and the
  sea.

The World Is Your Oyster - Collaboration With Darren White

Oysters, huh?

With this knife, cut the shell all across
Marinade lovingly in soy sauce
Bits of garlic and chives for some heat
Cook very short, and it's time to eat

Slurp down a delicacy delight
Not at all slow, for it doesn't bite
Wash it away with a tender sip
Ambrosia waiting upon my lip

I've prepared another one for you
Your Muscadet to dive, straight into
My kiss, we share the wine and a bite
This time, this joint, this oyster delight

I am your lemon and you are my lime
Perfect the mix, the flavour divine

Oyster Bay

At five thirty a baby boy, washed of blood
coddled in cotton, the soft pink hope
of a mother set to desert him for death.

but not now, not in the first breath,
not in this salt scented air
inhaled by raw lungs, expelled in screams,
louder than the flash gulls
and the cries of the crab sellers.

there, there, be calm, kuma shwari

be calm in the bay by the tamed waters
nuzzling the coral sand,
nibbling the breast of the plump earth;
be calm as the sun goes down to the first night
on a world still waiting for meaning.

see now, the moon rises,
the first gift of this and every night
distant, implacable
drawing the restless sea;
exposed in the white light the oysters shine;
in some are hidden
pearls of beauty and distress.

your hope is my hope; your pain, my pain

Oyster

Each day he sweeps the pavement clear

Of leaves and litter strewn around,

He spots a wallet on the ground

And picks it up; no one is near.

The wallet’s full of notes and coins -

An opened oyster shows its pearl -

He plans to have a pretty girl,

And feels a tingle in his loins.

He tastes her kisses, sees her smile…

The dinner leads to so much more…

Not lonely, like he was before…

She wears his ring, walks down the aisle…

But, no, he’s honest and sincere -

He shuts the wallet, stomach tight,

Will hand it in, he knows it’s right -

And sees his dreams all disappear…

Premium Member The World Is My Oyster

The world is my oyster I've heard it said
Not a fan of oysters how about chocolate instead

Or delicious french fries smothered in ketchup
For an omelette with home fries, early I'd get up

Do you feel a theme running through my words
Not addicted to the yummies, that's totally absurd

Granted they sometimes take over my thoughts
But so does kissing really like that a lot

Or even just sitting and gazing at the moon
With the love of my life, making me swoon

Guess what I'm saying is enjoy what you have
Some don't have anything makes me feel sad

How fortunate to know we're safe in our homes
Some don't know if their homes they still own

The bottom line is give thanks every day
Hopefully that will keep your troubles at bay

Digger From Oyster Bay

Digger from Oyster Bay

There once was a digger from old Oyster Bay
Who did the right thing on a very wrong day
While taking a hike down a long winding trail
Saw his daughter and mailman delivering mail
Surprisingly on take your daughter to work day

One Night At An Oyster Bar

ONE NIGHT AT AN OYSTER BAR

"Do they have steak?", he said
to his friends, while passing time,
anxiously trying to veil his dread
of dining on sea slippery slime.

"The line's too long, we'll have to leave,
     let's find another place!".
And for a moment he seemed relieved,
thinking logic had favored his case!

But then the line began to move,
   and horror sculpted his face.
"I'm approaching", said he, "the awful truth
   of a stomach retching disgrace!".

"The price is too high, I don't feel well,
I have to call my Mom!".
His panic pealed like a fire alarm bell,
   and exploded like a bomb!

Then a grating screech direct from Hell
sent shock waves through his head.
A slime smeared waiter coarsely yelled,
"Seats for eight!", he almost fled!

"I'm lost", he moaned, marching in file
to his seat like a prisoner in jail.
"Whad'll it be?", asked a waiter named Lyle,
"Oysters!", they cried, "Five or six pails!".

Exclaiming "I'm sick!", he stared at his plate,
   a quivering mountain of gray.
Teeth clenched tight, he saw his fork shake
as he willed it toward his tray.

With watery resolve he pierced the mess,
as if trying to spear a ghost.
His mind rebelled in revolting distress,
as he slid one down his throat!

His senses, like wood deeply petrified,
   wondered if he were dead.
With a start he stood, eyes staring wide,
"Damn! These are good!", he said.

Premium Member A Pearl In the Oyster

Where are you hiding little pearl?
Are you caught in the whirl
of ticker tape and media mania?
Please don’t cower in the wake of opinion.
Like other things every person has one, and
for every negative dissertation,
there is positive comfort close at hand.
Be strong as your father’s father before you
standing guard in the garden of dead poems,
some laughing hysterically at words
summarily called your brothers and sisters.
Touted as their right, they hide triviality behind metaphor,
weaving subterfuge into mediocrity, complaining, berating,
conniving against true art with despicable raving,
ennobled as poetry.

My Depressed Oyster

I open and close like an oyster
One second showing my true worth
The next unwilling to be prized open

Frustrated by my own nature and the thoughts that put me there
I am still willing to change
Sadly though my behavioural patterns rule my undertones
that mean so well
The words, I am happy, will not be uttered from my lips for fear that
Once i have uttered them i will want to retrieve them with my dual nature
Should i look more closely at the pearl inside instead of the shell

My unrest lies somewhere ,is it my roaming spirit
My wandering mind
Or does my soul want to show me something new

Nature is my closest friend and I am my own worst enemy

This land that i love the moon, the sun, the stars
where on earth will i find me
If i felt as precious as otheres perceive me to be
I could be at rest

Why don't I see my worth
My pearl
My own beauty
Only my shell
Maybe I should look Inside?

As a fishless fish eater
Can someone tell me,
Is eating an oyster
Like gulping a big bogie?
