Best Nuptials Poems
This wedding is hard-labor duty
(All the guests are acting so SNOOTY!)
A whole lotta' bunk!
Guess I'll get drunk
And pinch that thar bridesmaid's stiff booty...

On time
Sublime
My beau
Hel-lo!
Guests smile
No guile
Church hall
Too small
Tikes play
Then sway
So hot
Must stop
Slow-mo
I know
Kid hurls*
Hits girls
Bride’s dress
A mess
Aaww, hell
The smell!
Wiped down
Don’t frown
Do you...?
I do!

Those lovely little precious moments
Moments we shared and treasured like two lovely doves
Doves that had fallen freshly in love
Love which had been nurtured over a long period of time
Time which had been kept assiduously by our bountiful parents
Parents who had been looking forward to this Nuptials
Nuptials planned since our conception in their wombs
Wombs that had born and bred other siblings
Siblings who had failed to grant them their heart desires
Desires they expect that we shall grant under any circumstance
Circumstances which we can no more bear and tolerate
Tolerate and bear circumstances like their constant nagging
Naggings which are gradually becoming a nuisance to our ears
Ears that have had to put up with these nonsensical demands
Demands which we are slowly hearkening to
To make them happy and satisfy their bitter souls
Souls that have not rested in many years
Years that have seen them hope to make this combination
Combination of their seeds in order to continue the family friendship bond

Your hand holding my hand
Your eyes locked into mine
Our lips slightly wet from our kisses
Your body singing my bodies song
Your heart beating in time with mine
Our minds thinking our same thought
Your mouth speaking my words
Your mine and I'll forever be yours
For Lorena & Carlos, 2008. May you have a happy long lasting marriage.

Haiku
After Goethe's "Ritter Kurts Brautfahrt"
Sire Gaddabout one spring-tide morn
his sturdy dappled steed did mount.
for he would wed the highly born
Maid Ethrelda Holyfount
He plucked his lute and sang an air,
but scarce a league was trod
than came a cry. "Beware, beware!
Here comes the knave, Sire Heaviplodde.
"Sire Heaviplodde, my mortal foe?
Seeks he this day a fight?
'Tis him or me a mortal blow
must soon dispatch to endless night."
Sir Heaviplodde in armor black
rode up to mock and jeer.
Then said he, holding high a a sack:
"Your head will serve as souvenir."
"Make good, black knight, your foolish boast,"
stern-faced Sire Gaddabout did cry,
"or by ye saints your wretched ghost
full soon the Stygian strait must ply."
The shields did clash, the horses snort,
the dust did fly, the swords did ring,
and, to cut a long tale short,
'twas Heaviplodde who knew death’s sting.
A fulsome wench with babe at breast
stood steadfast in the way.
Sire Gaddabout at her behest
stopped for to hear what she might say.
She raised her babe for him to see,
she cocked her head and with a sneer
said:" Knight at arms, remember me?
You left behind this souvenir."
On seeing this the knight did blush.
He bade his squire go fetch some beer.
Then said he to the young girl "Hush,
this bag of gold should help out, dear."
Past hill, past hamlet, wood and mire,
he rode with noble carriage.
Might even yet the fates conspire
to dash all hopes of marriage?
Who stood with visage grim and old
to guard the way before?
A man in black held up a scroll,
whereon were writ the debts of yore.
Not all the gold the knight did hold,
not lands, not herds, his dowry,
could e'er redeem his debts of old
accrued in youthful folly.
"I have sinned" the knight did weep,
"and mercy is my plea.
I must to church my pledge to keep
in holy matrimony."
The grim collector smiled and said:
"As bridegroom you today are free.
Your past is like a shadow fled.
What counts today is what shall be."

Ballad
A sweet-poison par excellence
An incident uncommon in species other
An out-of-the-way vow for life
To breathe and die for one another.
Departing from old loved ones
Longing for unknowns
A challenge to lead life better than others
A solacing shackle and ‘loss of freedom’,
As Jagmohan sir used to quote
‘Where you cannot die for yourself.’
Nectar nowhere found
To respite, soothe, conciliate and placate
To forget and forgive
A cushion of love with a wig of sleep
Patting with lullaby for a jiffy’s NIRVANA
Though a pair of long parallel lines
Expecting to be woven around each other
As mating serpents’ pair.

Imagism
My love you have found me in my proudest hour.
My dear I found you in my prayers so clear.
Soon we shall be bound in harmony of power.
Soon we shall be together in a bond so sincere.
Take my hand and promise to love me forever.
I take your hand and swear to cherish your heart.
Holding hands honoring each other in this endeavor,
Now we share words that can never be torn apart.
Looking into each other’s eyes, glistening in love,
Seeing each other’s hearts shine in heartfelt gold,
Standing so very close, watched by angels above,
We fold together for our binding kiss does unfold.
Bound in matrimony today, we placed our rings.
Upon each other’s fingers, now our passion sings.

Sonnet
my dear, let's stroll
barefoot ...we laugh 'midst jeweled night
my dear, let's stroll...
old stars envious. they cajole--
Maytime taps our feet, to delight
tender the waves, nuptials in sight
my dear, let's stroll...

I cannot bear to entertain
Thoughts veiled in white, wearing a train
Trimmed in lace and love-adorned
Pretty, pristine, and so I scorn
Thoughts that flicker, quenched again
By the eternal chill within the space
Between, and washes clean the slate;
Bringing at last to a hush, and nearly too late,
A voice to which we all incline
Our seldom happy hearts and ever mournful minds
Which spreads sinful seeds upon withering winds that sear
And birth a most powerful emotion- fear.

Better to reach for something
and miss
than to hold back playing it safe
Destiny in the intention
and choice
hesitance falling from grace
Better to be adopted
by truth in flight
than the orphan of a lie
Where words and music marry as one
on the highest mountain
—you climb
