Best Notifications Poems
after ‘The waste Land’, by T.S. Eliot
I met a woman on a glitching screen,
her face a whisk of pixels and prayer.
She spoke of shattered systems and survived code,
“The cloud remembers everything,” she said, "but forgets what matters.”
A rat hurried through my feed at dawn,
past memes and headlines, each a kind of omen.
I tried to fast-forward spring,
but April clawed through my notifications anyway.
In a thread of ghost towns and tagged regret,
I noticed a cafe with no floor, only static,
A man sipped Espresso beside a socket,
charging his distress while waiting for replies.
Data rains in blasts, all prediction and pop-ups.
The Sun sets in Beta,
and we refresh the silence,
hoping for something new to load.
For then, below algorithms and ash,
a bud breaks code in cracked concrete,
muted, untagged,
but blooming still.

The Sodom and Gomorrah, vault,
the legends so long past,
Lots wife looked back, got turned to salt,
Atomic was it asked?
The Indus valley, vitrified ,
it even melted clay,
a rod of iron, Atlantean kind,
birds all turned white they say,
green of sand in Pakistan,
from the atomic blasts before,
nuclear winter, radioactive rain,
skeletons no gore,
Geiger counter lays the blame,
and Death he oversaw,
twenty thousand years ago,
and maybe bloody more,
pea brain man's end game!
The ancient boulder map is round
with map it's shown theron ,
shows Atlantis nearby found,
from south America, underground,
20,000 year or so old,
with artifacts so bold,
the ancient race did make,
don't listen, don't be told.

Dear friends , I just want to let you know that after seven years on poetrysoup, I feel its the right.time for me to take a break.I do not know if its going to be a short one ,or a long one. I thought I ' d let you know, so if you don't see my supporting comments on your poems and blogs, you will know I didn't abandon you, but its just not being here on poetrysoup anymore. I will miss you all, and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Please , do keep me in yours. I tried to think of something beautiful to write for you before I take my break, but my muse isn't helping so I picked two lines from a poem I 've written in the past , and I will post them below.I do wish you all to keep writing plenty of poetry, to keep building a community and not just another poetry site, to have fun on here, and just be happy you have.this opportunity to be here, to meet people from all over the globe , to share what you love doing most-Writing. That is the kind of journey I always tried to have here. Don't feel offended if I don' t reply to your comments. My notifications are off....And guess I'll be off soon too . Take care, be kind to eachother because life is too short .Use your mind , heart ,and soul , lovingly.Use your amazing talent wisely.
Thanks to all of you who made these years of being here- Special Ones
Love you all !!
To All Souper Friends & Tps...
In the sand my lonely footrpints
But somewhere in a distant land
You walk beside me.

I have face book on my smart phone
And get some notifications yesterday
I was driving down by k mart
But was curious to see what it says
But as I pick up my phone
A police stop and give a ticket to me
I have to pay $250 to see
Some one post “they feeling lazy”
What is wrong with this people?
Like face book have them going mad
They posting all kind of craziness
Like “I wake up and feeling sad”
Face book is a social media
To connect with friends and family
But some people get the wrong ideas
And use it as their personal diary
Face book can be very entertaining
With some very interesting post to see
I just use it to share my poems
And nothing personal about me
But sometime it does make me wonder
If face book getting to people brain
Why else would some one want to post
“I going back to sleep again”
So let us get this straight
They wake up to say “going to sleep again’
If you don’t find something wrong with this
Then I’m the one going insane
A woman post pix of her lavish Sunday meal
On the table with the candles lights dim
Then writes” romantic dinner for me and hubby”
But this morning she was quarrelling with him
Yesterday a girl post a lot of bad words
Then today she only posting religious
And when I ask her about it
She said I’m being ridiculous
The men crazy for face book to
But they keep them posting informative
And one in a while they may post a joke
But nothing to derogative
Men like to read what them women post
They have us curious and amuse
Although some we don’t understand
And some does left us confuse
Amanda changing profile pix every minute
Face book can’t keep up with she
So they make a new site just for her
And call it ‘Amanda’s library”
A couple goes to the grocery
And post their location where they are
To share the very interesting facts
That they buying rice and flour
Some goes out with friends and family
And post very pictures
Them some does post interesting words
From the Holy Scriptures
A lot of people use face book
The way it was intended to be
And then some just use it
Show case their stupidity

I was sitting in school when
it happened
But I didn't know, not then
I was driving home from school when
Police were breaking down the door
But I didn't know, not then
I was opening my notifications
when parents were being called
being told
that their little angels would never come home
News feed:
19 children
2 adults
Cobb Elementary
Shot by gunman
"Mentally stable"
they said
"Just snapped"
they wrote
They should have written about
how
somewhere out there
21 families
42 parents
84 grandparents
Are being told that
their angels were shot out of the sky
they were going to school
on a day like any other
They were excited
for the sleepover that night
nervous for the book report
angry at their siblings
Then the 2 teachers,
who were bored with lesson plans
when they should have been teaching math
like a normal day
throwing themselves in front of children
and here I am
sitting at home
on a normal day
I hope
those 19 children
and 2 adults
are reading this
in heaven somewhere
If you are,
Hi
Hi, from your cousin
I love you, from your mom and dad
A kiss from grandma
and from me
a message
a poem
from a girl in your state
but a while away
saying
Fly high, angels

The social media generation that lives in cyber space,
so needy for notifications so they don't feel misplaced,
make up a world of brave faces sitting behind screens,
seeking self validation so that their face gleams.
Social interactions fall victim to distractions,
as when that phone beeps it gets a reaction.
Immediately they read and they write a reply,
that phone always held up in front of the eyes.
That goodness gracious Facebook status,
telling the world what you ate for breakfast,
and two hours later it's got fifty thumbs,
but you don't know forty as they're not your chums.
The friends that you met just one time in a club,
they really don't know you but like all you put up,
and the many selfies that turn out unsightly,
before the one you post thinking, "I hope they like me".
This like for like game played by the lame,
these people don't know you you are just a name,
when they see you in public you don't look the same,
'cus you photoshop pictures and don't look how you claim.
This false is a force supplying mental litter,
it fills up their world with rainbows and glitter,
but when I look at Facebook, Instagram and Twitter,
I think to myself there really is nothing sh**ter.

to friend or not to friend, that is not the question
I'll be damned but I'm game
These facts cannot be left unstated
whether it is right to suffer
the lingering stings of speculative moments
or just to click the button and add
and in much suspense wait to be accepted...
... to like, to delete, to poke....
no more and by delete to say we end
the heartache and the thousand natural shocks
from endless notifications,
Some to block and others promote
and escalate to instagram and skype
and grab a chance to live in style
true to form, you thought i wouldn't have known
oh, don’t say why, we all need
to like, to be liked
to inbox perchance to receive, eh, that is the dream
for in that one message pleasant realities may come
when one will have updated one’s status
attempting to prompt a response
hoping friends will like
there is the mistake
that turns to a disaster all of Facebook romance
for who could bear the responses of a lover's ex,
friends with benefits would pour disdain
on the ceaseless updates amounting to silly display
you two get an inbox, they'd say,
but from inbox and chat many shy away,
too much paper trail along the way
so, thus stated, still lingers the question paused
from the very first breath this poem has known
to friend or not to friend,
if yes, to what extent,
if not, then what is the next step?

-Quiet voices with low decibels are taken with offense. Preconceived notions, spoken words without thought, inserting smileys to disclaim. Invertebrate personas can be seen evaporating from the skin, with the naked eye. Forming a resin that keeps building up over time. Labeling you with defects of character. Beating around the bush, hiding from problems; loose ends form. Texts twist the dough sprinkled with good intentions. Life's a *****, it hurts, don't it? Untied shoes are today's special, featuring potential failure. Intentional lack of preparation. Detached from the lanyard of civilization. Eyes disconnect; declining their calls. Reading the texts with disregard. Getting notifications and silencing alarms. Misdirected; free-falling off the imaginary edge of fictional beliefs. Playing a new version of make believe. Pretending with the help of it's big brother assumption, the answers we do not know. Taking offense to the actions committed with good intent. Overthinking the simple things in life. Misinterpretations of the harmless innuendos.

Dear, Facebook
where is the dislike button? all the ignorances and nonsense, i been reading. People sharing their problems on their status, since when were you a therapist? Are you getting paid for this? If so i can get on the pay roll? If i post this as my status would you like it? Im just sharing my feelings like everybody else. And can we please stop with all the groups tired of my notifications going crazy with stuff that has nothing to do with me. If one more person tag me in a pair shoes, im gone deactivate my account.
sincerely, a fed up member.

We sit inches apart,
glowing screens between us,
a thousand miles wide.
We speak in echoes,
algorithm-fed replies,
pre-packaged thoughts
we never owned.
I send you a message.
You send back a reaction.
A digital thumb,
a cartoon heart,
a flicker of presence—
then gone.
We gather in crowded rooms,
silent, heads bowed in reverence
to the gospel of notifications.
A congregation of ghosts,
all here,
all absent.
Your voice is there, but flattened.
Your eyes are there, but dimmed.
I reach for you—
but you are buffering.
And yet, we post proof of life,
a curated display
of curated selves,
hoping someone, somewhere,
will see beyond the pixels,
will touch something real.
But no one does.
Because we are so connected,
yet we can’t see each other anymore.

An alter in an altercation? No. That is merely the result of a lemon fruited display of a quite fruity pie. Or could it be an orbital orange? Or lake of lime? In time digestions of peas is quite charismatic when absorbed with the milk of a leaf. But categorizing caterpillars is just not wise. Wood pigeon wood pigeon woo woo woo. And the clap of a shaft from an otherwise dormant cave. Fringe of a bag is the shroud of a hag and a hag is neither a coat, nor a cousin. Nor is it a beetle belly flopping in a nine acre pond. Dip dab dip then. Erotic notifications of a zenith steel stew. Such rambunctious ramifications and a ram baaa baaaa baaaaaa. Wow. Quite fascinating isn't it? Really. Compose not a compost. And graze no gravel. How eradicated. How interesting. Hahahahaha carrots can can . No hahaha but hahaha to frozen flowers imported from Dubai. Capital airport with a p y q. Under umbrellas view. Style. Xxxxx constipation z c v b z z z m
