The Notable Horse

I missed the deadline for the contest
however
never is it late to write an entry or of horses

the entry below is my dedication to secretariat
in my opinion is and always will be
the notable horse
thank you

"the notable horse"

it matters not no one knows
it matters that all understand
understand you are the best
greater than those before you
superior to those who follow
follow but fall short of

is it seen how you proudly stand
is it known for you are a child
a child with an exceptional soul
I know and understand it all
how you command how you lead
lead us to a world like no other

some say you were born small
others say you rose from the start
the start of birth to victorious reign
overwhelming such thoughts of you
the little horse with a huge heart
a heart who said I think I can and did

to date no other can take the stand
for any such comparison is pale
pale because no other rises as you
stories live with historians and lovers
they shine forever bright with followers
eternally you remain the notable horse

Notable Quotes

I will show you fear in a handful of dust

TS Eliot wrote “The Waste Land” and he said “I will show you fear in a handful of dust.”
Maybe he had read Genesis in the Bible, back then it was perhaps a must.

At Genesis chapter3 and verse 19, Adam and Eve are now disgraced
Adam and his wife Eve are from the Garden of Eden being displaced

The pronouncement made by God that day, I am sure it bought a tear
And this is perhaps where Eliot got his line about a ‘handful of dust and fear.’

“In the sweat of your face you will eat bread, until you return to the ground”
Now I am not sure at this point but I don’t think TS Eliot was around.

The quote continues “From dust you were taken and to dust you will return.”
Now that is the wages that sin did pay, the wages Adam back then did earn.

The fear of man is dying but worse than that when it’s getting near as it must
Remember that Eliot and the Bible say, “I will show you fear in a handful of dust.”

Competition Entry:

Numerosity Nutcase In Notable Nothingness

cold as ice with the heater on
the aspirin causes me to bruise
like murky water mirages on a ceiling of used stars,
i become lost in thought as the scent of you makes me float on air
i believe that i am immersed in the confetti convention of my makeshift reemergence
icicles form on the tiny tips of my mustache
every breath that i take burns from the consumption of your irresistible image
one false stroke southbound and it is suddenly summertime
the dunes where many memories were made has dissolved into a sandstorm diary of misty remains
every current upcoming morning stings like disposable razors of surefire frigidity
my phrase called 'talk' are run-on simple sentence jumping over rusted hurdles of shame and regret
hot as hellfire with the window fan on
the pradaxa causes my blood to be just thin enough....to cut the heater on again

Premium Member Bullseye - a Notable Horse

Bullseye, a faithful companion,
Met Woody at a fork in the road.
He's the ultimate horsey champion!
A child's heart is his abode.

The Prospector, Jessie and He
Were going to live forever on display.
Only through clear glass they'd see
Children every day.

What a sad existence!
Bullseye likes his adventures.
It's only through Woody's insistence
That Bullseye's now part of somebody's treasure.

Bullseye is clunky, funky and fun.
He prompts smiles from ear to ear.
He'll happily play in rain, hail and sun
If he knows it will bring cheer!

He's awakened so many imaginations!
Will he be a hero, this time, or a villain?
Will he feature as a talented singing sensation?
Will he drink Ribena by the pool whilst chillin'?

Bullseye can be whatever character you desire.
You can cherish him your whole life through.
He's a toy story that will continue to inspire.
Is he a notable horse to you?

The Notable Oak

Scarlet clouds skinny-dip
In the wealth of your limbs,
Highlighting your glorious
State of grace,
And I am your audience
Applauding unrehearsed magnificence;
Intensely poignant,
This simple display,
To intrigue and inspire
The likes of Kilmer.

“More,” I fiercely cry.
“More!”

Alas, the sun has done her duty
And she’s fled to western horizons,
Leaving me to mourn the sight
Of your moss-draped canopy
Wrestling with the sky
For consideration,
But oh, Live Oak,
You need not fear my memory.
I shall dream of you
As I slumber beneath your branches.

When the sun comes to visit again,
You’ll see me smile once more.

Premium Member A notable pair

A fantastic duo quite rare
In no way can these two be square
What makes Jim's heart wilt?
It's Deb who is well built
With C cups that cause men to stare

A very intelligent guy
Jim knows how age to defy
His love Deb he keeps
Only with her he sleeps
Though many he could satisfy

Notable Exception

I live in a world so hard

When money is tough to come by,

I live in a world where to few people care

But the notable exception is you,

I live in a world of so much fear

A world of competition where people elevate

Themselves on a pedestal just to be seen, its true

But the notable exception is you

And in world that appreciates very little at all,

Where social media has become a playground for fools

No longer used as the greatest research tool,

The notable exception is you,

In this place where people cheer on those going to war

In a place where envy is rooted at its core,

Where people don’t grasp the concept of love anymore more

I know this does not comply to you,

Because you’re the notable exception it’s true.

On a Notable Quote

"Poetry makes nothing happen."
              --W.H. Auden

We see what we want in mirrors.

The wind that incites the leaves to falling
Makes nothing happen to those arched in expectancy.

There is no celebration, no exaltation of watercolors
Swept upon the textured sky taunt with time,
Unbending. It haunts the halls with endeavor,
Never ending: bows to sunsets, calls them clever
While claret news clippings clutter rooms.

Poetry like sterile tombs are places where living
Seldom happens, forests turned fragile to saplings
Not knowing of the wind, but rather the stirring;
Without the song there are no cicada, only whirring.

A Notable Rat

I feel sorry for the dead rat.
It was not an urban or country,
it was a suburban rat; it had a code of behavior.
It never infested, or stole
it strolled these leafy avenues
with a certain rodent pride.

It’s Autumn
and the trees are aflame with
medium income wealth,
the foliage lush
cultivated to be plush.

Yet here under a mighty maple
lies the body of a noble rat;
rigor mortis
cannot hide from our eyes
its once lordly existence.

With my foot,
I cover it with a blanket of
regal red and golden leaves,
as if it were a fallen eminence
of a minor kingdom,

a place where even rats
may claim title
to two or even three car garages.
