The Notable Horse

I missed the deadline for the contest however never is it late to write an entry or of horses the entry below is my dedication to secretariat in my opinion is and always will be the notable horse thank you "the notable horse" it matters not no one knows it matters that all understand understand you are the best greater than those before you superior to those who follow follow but fall short of is it seen how you proudly stand is it known for you are a child a child with an exceptional soul I know and understand it all how you command how you lead lead us to a world like no other some say you were born small others say you rose from the start the start of birth to victorious reign overwhelming such thoughts of you the little horse with a huge heart a heart who said I think I can and did to date no other can take the stand for any such comparison is pale pale because no other rises as you stories live with historians and lovers they shine forever bright with followers eternally you remain the notable horse SkyWatcher 10-15-21

what a sweet beautiful tribute to that horse. I saw a movie about a small horse who also was a big winner during Depression times. I think it was different horse than this one. Not sure. Well done.

Good Morning Andrea - Thank you for sharing your comments and story. I think you're right that it was a different horse. I myself was young so I did not know of the greatness and magnitude of secretariat but I do with videos documentaries and more to which I could look at all day long of secretariat's greatness. hh hh hh - Good Morning with a great huge thank you. It is my turn to say wow. Truly. I am honored by your comments regarding the contest and of the entry. I will never take that for granted. I was only 11 years old in 1973 not knowing anything back then of secretariat or of his greatness but I have since then and could watch documentaries or videos all day long of him and have seen them over and over. No other shall ever be close. Have a beautiful day hh and remain safe and well. (smile)

Lisa, thank you for reminding me how young I am (at heart, anyway). I believe that I was in my 20's already when Secretariat won the Triple Crown. That was 1973, if my decreasing brain cells have recalled correctly. lol. At any rate, what a specimen of beauty that horse was (and is, in our mind's memories). Take care, Gershon

I was only 11 years old thus not knowing or understanding the magnitude and greatness back then of secretariat. I have seen videos images and documentaries not to mention the winning races themselves. I could watch them all day long seeing his greatness. I am not much in horse even though it is a fine animal. Missing a contest is not the end of the world. Occasionally I find a contest, write my poem but I am not mad to enter it in contest. Blessings.

Excellent write, and Tribute. Yes, Big Red! I remember Secretariat well, having the pleasure to have seen the horse, up close, in person. Magnificent Creature. Awesome. Seen many great racehorses...but Secretariat was the greatest in my opinion. You must be from New York, Lisa. Blessings!

I was too young to remember the actual events and races of secretariat so thank goodness for actual images and videos to which I have seen over and over. Secretariat will always be the notable horse in my opinion. No other can ever be close. And yes, how blessed are you to have seen and witnessed such greatness in person. What a thrill for certain.
