suffocating in nostalgia’s 
throttling grip,

I flee, moment by moment,
away from the now,

seeking, yearning,

chasing phantom clouds of 
promise,

coveting shrouded whispers of 
hope,

seducing empty vessels of 
belonging,

lost, alone, torn,

slowly crawling to the nearest
