For Momma

From a babe to a man, I needed your hand. Now I understand, it was part of God's
ultimate plan. I was to be raised by another woman. Don't get me wrong, Grandmomma was something! She gave me all the love a child could need. She was always there for me. Truly a blessing! No Mother, you don't owe me a thing. Not even an explanation. I can't sing, so I wrote this dedication, tTo show my appreciation.

Momma, Momma you're still #1. No matter the distance; rRegardless of what you've done. As God is my witness, I'm still your son.

Yes I hold resentments, and that is hard to ignore. My hurt I can't hide. When
you kicked me out. And out of your three children, why was I the one you let go?
From afar you watched me grow. Did you worry about my well being? On the surface, looks can be deceiving. No, I was not well. I was actually a child living in hell. Easy for you to say "It's over, it's the past". I was forced to grow up too fast!

Momma, Momma you're still #1. No matter the distance. Regardless of what you've done. As God is my witness. I'm still your son.

I remember spending the night with you and that was such a treat, just to escape the hurt from being beat. Looking back it was a real tragedy. I felt you didn't love me. You were my Mother but you gave me up so easily. Grandmomma became my only family. The only person I could rely on. But now she's gone. Even now as a grown man, I feel so alone. If I could sing, this would be my song--

Momma, Momma you're my queen. For you I would do anything. I just want you to be proud of me. Whatever I've done, please accept my apology. I'm not perfect, never claimed to be.

But I am strong. Especially dealing with this pain for so long. I just hope we can finally be a family when I come home.

Dedicated to my Momma "Phyllis Ann Lopez"

Note: Thank you Poetry Soup for allowing me to share another piece of my life. From both
pieces "For Grandmomma" to this piece "For Momma" you can picture my relationships with
both women. My mother was far from perfect...But no one is perfect and I love her all the
same! Jimmy

The whispering begins Maybe our Fairy God Mother came Sunday night and changed Ma’am
Oh Dot we can only wish so , I’m a little apprehensive, Al what does aperentcive mean I
asked
It means unsure , unreal piped Joe and Jim Bobby why aren’t you eating? Is there any rat
poison
Ma’am probably put it in the eggs Bobby don’t talk like that Billy’s woofing his breakfast down
Of course he’s Ma’am’s Pet, alright, alright let’s take advantage of the Fairy God Mother
Ma’am
Becky tell Millie you and her will dry George and Harry will put away Dot put everything away
The rest of you guys wipe the table and mop the floor I call wiping the table said Joe (always
easy)
Hey Pet go upstairs and ask Ma’am if she needs a fresh towel or anything tell her we’re
almost done
When Billy came down we were all sitting at the clean table with our hands folded She’s
coming now
Ma’am walked into the kitchen, wearing a muti-colored flower dress that matched to a tee
her parasol
Tucked in the bow of her dress was the black rider’s crop which she always carried with her,
just in case
Ma’am, you look beautiful, She playfully grabbed George’s ear I’m not going to tell all of you
again Call
Me “MOM” I don’t want to use this today (touching the Ebony Crop) in fearful uncertain unison
yes MOM
William go to the living room closet and bring the bag out here “hey guys look brand new
beach pails”
“Jesus Christ” Did you say something Robert we all swallow our breath “ I-i said ”Mom your
so nice”
Her hand never even moved toward the Crop Maybe Dotty was right, maybe we had a Fairy
God Mother

Praise God For Mothers Too

Praise God for Mothers,
Mothers nourish and hold you
Mothers love and scold you
Mothers carry and mold you
Mothers pick you up and mend you
Mothers raise their hands and praise God for you
Mothers kneel down and pray everyday for you,
Think of all these things I pray so all of us can say,
we love and praise God for our mothers too.

"you'Re My Inspiration"

My mom is my one and only inspiration,
She always gives us more attention,
Her love and care makes us strong,
I think she's God best creation.

But living without her makes me sad,
Talking to her makes me feel glad,
When someone teased her and say something bad,
Don't wish that I'll be fine cause I'm sure I'll get mad.

She always remind us to pray,
And tell God to help us everyday,
Going to school and going somewhere,
Just remember God is always with you until the end of the day.

I want to tell some important words to you,
I want to say it everyday but I hesitate at you,
But I think this is the time to remind you,
I didn't forget to say to myself that mom, I really love you.

Sis. Caroline Peart

I was a boy then
Betwixt conforming and transforming
The ways of men
I met in you virtue most disharming
The pious thought
Bright patience caught
The kindly words, and tender deeds
Of love: they sear
On me deep impressions, like seeds
Making deep roots here
Like rivers trenching and cleansing all
Hence my poem's tear
That such a golden leaf should ever fall,
You, no more there?

Those college days still
Like bright canvas painted by memory
Halls of delight fill
When we tell anecdotes of life and history
And in them all
My heart is entralled
A lady sits amidst the squalor of time, she
Circled in kindness
From her children's eyes, exudes a beauty
That lights all dimness
And causes her husband engorged with joy
To praise God loudly
While she prays, reads, or sings with no alloy
Of earth's misery.

In your presence there
I fell in love, and called you mother softly
And held God dear
In such a common place a tree of beauty
Sheltering us then
Grace and love blend
In you, aged and ailing in church long last
Did not retire
Nor tell a close of door upon the happy past
Jew told me, later
That you are gone, I wept the ignorance of it
And here suffer
That I did not a quiet moment by you then sit
Love to render.

Premium Member Weeping

There was weeping this week
For a most gracious lady
Went on a journey to meet
Those gone on before

We visited in her home
Many years before
She was always loving
Welcoming us in the door

In the pastorite years
Ago many homes
Visited so
She was one to become a friend

When you go to funeral wake
There the loved ones wait
The dreaded time for the end
Tears are shed for a mate

But this time the children cried
Little ones, teens
And did not smile
When you see teenagers cry

One knows, just knows
That God was there
In her home where she
Offered love that was sent from God above

My Wonderful Mother

I thank God for giving me a wonderful mother
She is the spirits of my house
Her charm of love is always there for me
Her lovingness and kindness can not be matched
I know how important of her presence at home
I never forget her difficult days that
she has gone through to bring me up
When I think about her sleepless nights and
struggle, my tears roll over my eyes
With all the struggle and pain she showed me
the right path to live in this world
I want to repay everything what ever I owe her
but I know there is nothing great enough to
repay the greatest mother on earth.
I only ask God to allow her to live long
because she is my wonderful mother.

God's Divine Gift

You are extraordinary
Special, kind in every way
I could search the whole world
And only find one of you
	Your cheerful smile shows joy
	Through sacrifice and pain
You give others a friendly word
	To brighten up there day
O God what a comfort
To know you care
Blessing us with mothers
Unique and so aware
	Everything beautiful
	Everything divine
	Is in a mothers touch
And I thank God for mine

A Mother's Love

Mary was a woman that the Lord hath made
she was a chosen vessel to give life to His babe
the Babe who was destined to reign over the Christian Nation
the Prince of Peace, the Messiah who would die for our salvation

There is only one thing in this world like a mother's love
it's the agape love that comes from God above
for the love of a mother is a special and precious gift
like receiving the Holy Ghost, your spirit it will lift

A mother's love should be given freely by choice
like the word of God in it you will rejoice
a mother's love should not ever be taken for granted
for there are many in this world who have never had it

a mother's love should be cherished and held so dear
for you will surely miss it when it is no longer here
a mother's love is like a heavenly sanctuary
will shield you from evil and anything that is scary

a mother's love is like a fortress of comfort and protection
unconditional, unbreakable with no objection
a mother's love is like a beacon that burns so bright
will guide you out of the darkness and into God's light

a mother's love the most precious gift from God
a mother's love a gift that comes from the heart
