Best Mormon Poems
I was driving a station wagon, Dad on my right
Mom, young kids, and dog in back seat
Construction ahead, a warning light
In my mind I keep the scene on repeat
I saw the truck in my rearview mirror
It was going fast, I was going slow
I couldn't accelerate as it got nearer
It climbed on our wagon, in Idaho.
It forced the rear of the car into asphalt
The rear doors sealed, but the dog did a vault
Mom lifted the kids over, seared her skin
Moved sideways and a flame shot up where she'd been.
We all made it out, and Mormons took us in
Kids made Mormon friends, and we regrouped
Took an airplane the rest of the way to the coast
Not a story of which I can boast.
Dad's summer teaching had to cover the cost
But we won something, not just lost
We found strength and friendship where we didn't expect
From people whose kindness I'll never forget.
Now every flashing warning light
Takes me back to that July.
A rearview mirror, one long breath,
The line between life and death.
Besides the Mormons, I also thank fate
Death has to come, but death had to wait.
A pub that's typically Welsh
Has music the English can't squelch
Hymns and arias rule
But, like any gene pool,
The loudest is always a belch!
Comin' in, his names Mitt Romney Candidate Presidential
Make a little wish and throw your savings in the well
Say's he's gonna drag the US back but drag it back to what
Back from the Economic brink or back towards the missing link
Girls get in line for the kitchen sink
Su Imigración solución? Hacer Ingles el lengua oficial
Must 'ave forgotten his granddad was an immigrant as well
The old Chiefs must be dancing at the hypocrisy of one lot
Of American dreamers telling the next lot they're not aloud to dream
His great granddad was King of the LDS (Latter Day Saints)
Repeal undo cancel out all Obama's done
All good Americans buy a bible and a gun
Repeal undo cancel out Obama's best
Don't agree with what he says
You must be a ****in' terrorist
Rom's approach to the Economy
Is to print a few more Greenbacks
Undo what Obama's done and
Abolish Corporate income tax
He's into wealthcare wealthcare
Forget about your healthcare
Stop blugging from your employer
Buy your own god damn insurance
Or get yourself a lawyer
On National Security his favorite topic
He says don't get me wrong
It's worth talking to these people
But if they wont listen to Salt Lake sense
We're not going to talk for long
The Republicans star Quarterback's
Crystal clear on Social Issues
No abortions
No pink weddings dear
No stays of exicusion
Repeal undo cancel out all Obama's done
All good Americans vote yourself a Mormon son
Repeal undo cancel out Obama's best
Don't agree with what he says
Are you strapping plastic under that vest
So allow me to reiterate
Should The Rom win the coming election
We'll all be getting ****ed by his
Presidential ******** the
Charlton Heston looky-likey's grand plan
Is to help the Mormon Church expand
He'll be sucking the Corporate shlong each day
Even though he hates the gays
And look out Iran its time to invade
The Romnater's leading the Mormon Crusades
God bless the Republicans
I’m through with this grand-oval shaped abode,
where it’s center of gravity is filled with vanity.
methinks I shall absent myself from their evil propagandas and empty lullabies,
holding firm to my Ephraim’s stick and that of Judah.
Hey you over there-
keeper of the gates above,
shut not thine doors against I…
for all thine laws have I kept;
thine ordinances have I performed.
shut not thine doors of life against I thine faithful servant.
lest I be damned for all eternity.

I told her happiness was a choice.
I told her she was in control of the view
she possesses, I told her to believe me
because I had chosen to be happy myself
and it had worked without question and
no regrets.
Mormons came to her door to tell her
about God, her daughter answered the door
and gave them her mother's name, quickly
followed with, “just let me get her.”
after some lying about her plans, their
conversation was over and they left.
when the door closed, out came the rage
Marie keeps inside and then, the release of
her mouth.
“don't you ever tell anyone my name, what
the f@#$% is wrong with you?”
her daughter caught my eyes and fell into
embarrassment. Marie sat back on the love
seat enraged and shaking that the Mormons
knew her name and gave it to God.
she looked over at me, my chin tucked in,
my eyebrows high, I remained silent.
she’d shout angrily: “I f@#$%ing hate those
people, f@#$%ing happy and s@#$. there
aren't enough things in this world to make
you happy. not everything in this f@#$%ing
world is happy.”
I told her happiness is a choice.
her daughter and I stood there looking at
each other. I sat there wondering why this
woman chose to be unhappy, her daughter
stood there understanding her maturity at
12 was greater than her mother’s at 36.
the Mormons were turned away, the
daughter was a mockery, the mother,
a victim of herself.
as for me, well,
I got the opportunity to photograph it.

The chapel, with wood lined walls, honey coloured
gleams in the light of candles and lanterns.
Ever smiling elders younger than most.
With sharp suits and sharper smiles
bow us to our seats.
The groom, in hired clothing .
Waits
The bishop nods, and strange eyes burn behind pebble glasses.
The organist plays unknown music.
Changing to Pachabel's canon in D when a rustle of silk annonces the bride.
Strange words and rites drift around this place,
and I wonder why I am with these unknown people of God.
My friend turns, and with his bride moves down the aisle.
He smiles at me when he passes,
and in his delight all strangeness leaves
