Best Life Choices Poems
A clown car or an elevator?
A forest or a meadow?
Sad or happy?
The choice is yours.
Pink polka dots or Linen Gray?
A kitchen accident or a freight train?
Joyfulness or Melancholy?
The choice is yours.
A magical kingdom or a jail cell?
Pie or cheese?
Excitement or Boredom?
The choice is yours.
LIFE CHOICES
By
Kevin L Fairbrother
He sat in his rocking chair, willing time to pass
A stubby of beer in his hand and a *** in his mouth
Rocking to the country music blaring in the background
This man so alone, thinking about his last breath
Once a family man of great strength and character
Working days spent at the saw mill in the bush
Sucking on rollies through-out the working day
Never thinking that one day he would be short of breath
The ravages of life choices, booze and fags will shorten your time
For now his ravaged body is but a shadow of it self
Lacking in energy, can’t work, crippled with pain hard to walk
His body once full of life, now dying from life choices
Slowly the man lifts the beer to savior the nectar he needs
Time is suddenly frozen for he never gets his last drink
His body slumped he has succumbed, no pain now, just silence
The rocking chair now still, his body lifeless and growing cold
Life choices have taken this man too early, he was so young
He had the choice to not drink alcohol or smoke tobacco
He had the choice of living a long and productive life
But LIFE CHOICES ended his time on earth to soon
the father sees a neighbor
screaming with child as she runs
out the front door to shelter
he hustles his own to shelter
and turns to see other neighbors
with their two dogs come running behind
the shelter's too small to hold everyone,
the father says climb in but we can't fit the dogs
the neighbors hesitate - then pull the dogs
back to their house as father shuts shelter door
in a few seconds jets and trains and
bombs overhead shiver into steel and
time stops or stretches to infinity
as flotsam shoots through cracks
father opens shelter door sure he will
witness haunting fears he knows
and runs to the pile that was
minutes ago, the neighbors house
throwing pieces of piles aside
he digs to the small space that
two hundred and ten miles per hour
had enclosed to free friends and dogs
both men shudder at their fortunes
the father, immensely glad to not
have to bear witness and grief,
the owner, who couldn't
do that to his beloved dogs

Life Choices
Expanding spectrum
Rain falls on my color choice
The color is you
Hear the flames crackle
Fall on your sword
Live like a Jackal
Die like a dog
The lion is weary
Hyenas dart and bite
Their laughing is eerie
He'll lose his last fight.
The vultures are circling
Eyes that see far
Their shadow is on you
Wherever you are.
Betrayal was easy
You were attracted to strife
You gambled with demons
And wagered my life
Now dust claims your legend
You can't make it whole
May hell give you welcome
for you the bell tolls
So hear the flames crackle
No lion saves you now
Live like a Jackal
Die like a dog
I'm in a cage, with plenty of doors-
I do not know from which to get out.
Out of the cage, I see the world-
different from every separate door.
I'm a caged bird,
with a mystery yet unsolved-
where the future of a caged bird will be.
Where to fly, where to reach,
it's not something a caged bird will know.
I have the keys, opening every door-
but only one I am to pass.
Each one is a way to the world,
but each too good to remain in dark.
The world calls me, different is each call.
While some ready to drag me out,
the rest remains to be fought and won.
None tells me, where to go without doubt.
I'm a caged bird,
with a mystery yet unsolved-
where the future of a caged bird will be.
Where to fly, where to reach,
it's not something a caged bird will know.
Every choice one makes in life,
Is another step forward into their development.
Each and every choice
Has a meaning.
Sometimes, the one that makes the choice,
Is unaware of the consequences.
Speaking, such choices I’ve made in my life
I was unaware of surprising outcomes.
I’ve found out sad things of other people
Such things I am both happy and sad
That such a situation as thus had to occur
For me to acknowledge such information.
Some choices and actions are
Out of the person’s hands.
They must suffer to continue.
That’s life, and always has been.
Life isn’t a catwalk… and each
choice we make, proves that it isn’t.
Yet, if life really was as easy as it seems,
No one would seem to have a good purpose.
Because of our choices in hard times, we
managed to develop into new ages.
Pity the people who fail
to see hardships has developed
the future, and pity those who cannot
bear the hardships of life.
He’s holding the key
That opens minds, hearts
And souls
He called the
Gatekeeper of
Life!
As if in opposition it stood
Like a distress call from a precarious time
Juxtaposed perpendicular to an open grass laden field
A horizontal girder of ominous warning
A marker of trespass.
Abandoned, it was kept secret for many years
I have stumbled upon this inherent passage in time.
This parapet before me stirred with its meaning
Buttressed with elements of wood and mortared stone
Proclaiming an unwavering and perilous destiny
Pounded by the courage of the hands that erected it
Providing an uncertain shelter for those inside its borders
A mystery of history-a salutation to the lives huddled
Around the fires that embodied the journey to reach this place
Escaping from the barriers that withheld their freedom and independency
Coming to forge new barriers of their choosing
To instill what had perished and opportunities they had lost
Perhaps the storyline of these settlers from a thousand miles to the east
Traveled a thousand dangerous and imperiled miles
To establish the same rights and sovereignty
As the promise given to this great country and those who live within
This was the homeland of a thousand dreams
To claim, to build a fortress for living our treasured values.
A monument and testament to the depth of their hearts
A proclamation to the enduring spirit in their hands

Life Choices
Written: by Tom Wright.

Tangible success or inner gratification,
Were the choices in life that I once faced.
My life could remain just an aberration,
And the family name, become disgraced;
Then I arrived at my road’s branching,
Firmly entrenched, I faced a life choice.
Trembling, I stood, with color blanching,
Jesus had given me cause to now rejoice.
Who Am I ?
By George W. Clever-----12 June 2020
Who am I? I’m just a nut.
Patch on my eye. Big ears to help me fly.
A Weird kid in school. So they all say.
Mother had me tested. Never received the results, I guess.
Life has been busy. A smorgasbord of interests.
How could I choose but one? So I filled my plate with all it could hold.
This is is the day
Where push comes to shove
To get what I want
I must rise above
Ignore all the people
Saying this saying that
I’ll use what you said
For this motivational rap
You think you’re one up
You can’t see your own flaws
Narsassistic tendacies
Will soon cause you to fall
When I get discouraged
And life’s beating me down
I find peace and tranquility
Writing words that rhyme down
The flow like a melody
Some bitter some sweet
And after they’re written
I feel refreshed and at peace
Like a therapy session
My words seek to heal
Penetrating the mind
Of those we hold dear
The strength of a man
Isn’t found physically
It comes from within
His own ability to see
To see beyond pain
Beyond ugliness and lies
To see his core person
The one built by design
Call upon the creator
when all hope has evaded
Return to His words
claim the promises that are stated
You’ll find peace in His presence
And truth in his words
You’ll trump all life’s problems
As each one occurs
Clean out all the garbage
Accumulated and stored
It flaws up your character
You’ll be worse than before
Let go of the grip
You have on your heart
Find your own way
Or remain in the dark
I paused to stand and watch a man who had come to the road’s divide,
my wonder soared as I watched his stare slowly shift from side to side.
He stood as if not noticing that many passed him by,
they moved without a second glance down the road most traveled by.
Then as I watched he stepped full stride toward the path of lesser wear,
and soon he vanished from my view round a bend into the snare.
I soon, like him, stood center road faced with that daunting choice.
My gaze down his road, causing fear, I quenched my inner voice.
For miles I walked the crowded road breathing dust from other’s feet,
til in despair I stopped and stood, my heart and soul deplete.
I gazed about still holding hope, the other path I’d see,
on yonder hill I saw him there - the man who mentored me.
The path between us steep and rough, un-forged with dangers there,
yet still I left my path of friends, ignoring their bewares.
I pressed through hardship, pain and fear o’er rocks jagged and bent.
In time I crashed limp on that path, my every resource spent.
But then a warming touch I felt, a friendly voice I heard.
It said, “Get up and tread this path”. I rose without a word.
And as I looked, I saw him there, he continued on his way,
his only words as he walked on, “you’re on the path, now stay”.
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I chose in err,
but looking back (perhaps as well) all memories now seem fair.
Much time I spent on the beaten path and what I learned, immense.
But I reached at last the other path… and it still made all of the difference.
Choices that impact my life
Manipulation can cause hesitation, that lead to negative outcomes.
Manipulating a person or a group to be in a negative growing environment can lead to death or make you grow into a person that lacks positive health.
Manipulating can be positive, it can make you grow and learn and reach all of your natural ability to become the best you can.
Manipulating can start the second you are conceived and even before, everything is possible so never think that it is just because.
Manipulating people to do or act a certain way, all can be caused by many ways.
Manipulating for positive life, should always be the best choice.
God told us to love and forgive, to learn and grow and stay on the path home to love and light and all the positive stuff.
So be guard of yourself, think and learn and don’t be manipulated into a negative life.
Lifting prayers to God, today and always.
