Best Landmarks Poems
In spite of enjoying a very happy life
There are things I wish I had done
Like running naked through the Trevi Fountain
Or climbing the pyramids with a Nun
Walking the length of The Great Wall of China
While playing the Scottish bagpipes
Or exploring the famous Carlsbad Caverns
Dodging stalactites and stalagmites
The Colosseum in Rome is another site
That I've yet to see first hand
Remember the Beatles played a concert there
Now that was an amazing band
354 stairs in the Statue Of Liberty
Could climb them without a problem
Might need to have some oxygen handy
When I get back down to the bottom
Big Ben is an absolute must for my list
Like to hang from its giant minute hand
And straighten up the Leaning Tower is Pisa
While holding a pizza in one hand!
Then there's St. Basil's Cathedral in Moscow
An amazingly colourful structure
Commissioned long ago by Ivan the Terrible
Ivan's name sure makes me shudder
So now you know why I gotta stick around
To see all these very famous landmarks
So I can accurately construct every one
At the home when I play in my sandbox

I gazed at the waters beautiful face
quenching my thirst
for communion with the Creator...
as raindrop fingerprints
dissipated into my soul
wearing translucent wings...
causing the stars of our Ancestors
to flicker and blink...
in Chameleon Coded Celebrations...
breaking down barriers
with a photosynthetic breath...
setting free
CHALKFIRE
whispers...
TEACHING TRUTH...
connecting
faith with unconditional Love
and Gemstone Gratitude...
a classically conditioned
home remedy recipe...
shaken gently with a kiss
then stirred with the stimulating roots
of knowledge...
meant to be sipped out of a blessed bamboo shoot...
conceived
on a multi-dimensional shooting star...
she swayed in synchronicity
with the Aurora Borealis...
who once...
gave birth to a child
with the Milky Way...
lactating nourishment
for stray comets...
starving
for light...
lighting the hearts of leather plated lightning...
engraving
our names in a cloud clustered
book...
bound in amethyst solarflared bark
are exposed smiles
paving the grains...
in Leap Year Laughter...
while Sundappled eyes listen
smile and search...
the Sands Of The Depths...

Grackles on landmarks,
no severe cold from the North...
no need to migrate.

Condors and skyscrapers
Concrete walls and glass walls
Are outstanding landmarks of a city
Blocking the view of the sky and greenery
Cars and heavy traffic
Highways and flyovers
Add to the hazards of pollution
Urban afforestation is needed
To embellish our environment
To purify our environment
Greenery gives us spiritual calmness
and freedom
Soothing our eyes and souls
A reflection of purity, life and vigour
Shrubs and trees along the roads and in the gardens
Are nearer to nature and its beauty
And the origin of life
Landmarks From Childhood Out of Order
David J Walker
Perhaps it was just the random
remembrance of landmarks
From a childhood well past
Retracing steps made in snow
as if
They had no better place to go
although
Every day was easy and arrived with
its own adventure
In Summer we sunbathed on the
Crowded shores of Towne Lake
Mother warned of burning
The Autumn air was filled with the
Twentieth Century smell of smoke
From the front yard mountains of
burning leaves on every block
I had forgot the name
For the scent of rain
By the time Spring came
round again
The first year of High School
Overwhelmed with the
Fear of being the first
of the last and lost
The beige tiled hallways had
A history spanning its own eternity
of teachers and names
Of forgotten students
Mrs. Beards Kindergarten class
Taught everyone to tie their shoes
To know their colors
and count to 100
Junior High was an awkward Pimple fest
But the worst was dyslexia and
Puberty attacking in a two-front war
On my misplaced adolescent identity
Was there a better day to be born
With a different date
Was there a year when I would
Better fit in
I remember an assembly in elementary school
That father attended
He said nothing but I was so happy
To sit beside him
I remember a western festival in high school
That father came to
He was smiling though
at 16
I felt obligated
To ignore him
I remember Field Day the last day of the 6th grade
before the summer of Jr High
I remember the disappointment of the girl who
Would only date boys of her own religion
I remember her dropping out
to have a baby
I remember someone walked me
to my first day of class in kindergarten
It might have been my Mother
