Best Johnnie Poems
With your spirits well down and the feeling is low.
Here's a few drams of whisky, that gives you a glow.
Try, Johnnie Walker blue, it's a taste bud sensation.
So perfect a blend, for a special occasion.
Or maybe black label, a whisky so smooth.
All your troubles and cares it's magic will soothe.
Green label's sweet flavour, gives a fine floral nose.
Exciting, Inviting, the intensity grows.
And for those getting old, when the weather turns cold.
There's nothing much better, than a wee dram of gold.
Our red labels, for sharing, when mixing with friends.
The choice is those colours for your favourite blends.

2000 miles is a long ways, and 50 plus years is a very long time.
It spells the time and space that have separated me and my two friends.
Back then, whether it was hay, ammonia, cowboys, sling shots, or rubber tires,
somewhere in the mix were my two friends. Presently, there is a loving memory of Dennis and Johnnie. They were absolutely my best childhood friends and everyday playmates. Dennis was called "My terrible looking friend" because he never kept clean. Johnnie was the toughest of the three of us.
The above mentioned items of danger and fun are forever tied to their memory. Whether running from an ammonia tank gone bananas or rolling rubber tires; whether playing cowboys, rolling and jumping in the hay barn, or yelling loudly in a tall rusty structure, we three did it together like three vegetable peas in a hull.
On my next memory page, I see a metal fence under which Dennis tried to trawl in his attempt to escape the wrath of my two brothers, who came to my defense for something that Dennis had done to me. He never made it, and my brothers started to beat on him as they beckoned me to join them in the fighting feast. I demanded that they let him go, and until now, I'm getting a picture of Dennis' face being so relieved from my brothers' beating. I didn't hear him, and don't remember talking about it, but Dennis must have said, "What A Friend". He certainly was mine.

They say that nothing is free amid this world
Most definitely, depending upon who as whom....
High crime scratch their eyes spinning broken vinyl
Time your daddy was lying to you hitch because there's
No truth betwixt his parched crumbling destitute lips tilting
Tides this crown of mine castles atop the sand another hail mary
Goal line stand goodbye crackling road your candle burned out long before
Bay's seaweed paresis door, ever will ? Quicksand note Joey's got a boat white sharks.
Switchfoot's, I dare you to move ?
Shunned by societies carved these
Centuries a belief offering oppressions
Plundered through fables of fairyless
Tales in tears as molten gold melded...
An idol to fulfill their heart's a god
Or goddess that they could call their
Very own and irony waiting within
The wings of trial this metal bowing
Unto statues serving merciless altars
Whileas truth continued its wayward
Trek atop the paths towards colder
Binding hopes these dreams left bound
Amid twisted chains to bury love's light...
Judgment bleeding; ignorance arrogance
Hate death life flesh spirit, hells deceit ¿
You me cauldrons revelations fiery scenes.
Bright tides timberland her eyes...
His Davey Crocket, calling from high atop
Time's ridge as she dancing with their wolves
Wine of wild raspberries red dripping from her lips
Boy, searching for love's lost child ? Over it's mountains
Past this snow jungle fever where spirits flow and, such passion
Seaside swirls her beauty's baby girl; nature's pearl Jane's, addiction.
Juan (Johnnie) Avocado Seed
By George W. Clever-----15 September 2020
A migrant boy in California
His only toys were avocado pits
Making castles at the Rancheria
In the dust with the pits where he sits
Until told of a boy who traveled the borders
Planting apple seeds to grow fine orchards
Dreamed of a day when he’d be in demand
Planting huge avocado seeds across the land
For all to share his gift of avocado’s monounsaturated fat
He would be Juan Avocado Seed and that was that
Giving people Guacamole to spread on chips
Sliced garnish on tortillas rice and in their dips
Avocado Mac and Cheese or on pizza Chicago Style
He would be famous as Juan Avocado Seed mile after mile
Unable to leave his Rancheria without a Chevy
The bag of Avocado pits was just too heavy
Yes, the avocado seed, a Creator’s mistake
Its pits too large and heavy he did make
Belly up to the bar, boys
Let's have another round
And bid a fond farewell
To our old friend Johnnie Browne
Johnnie was a tootin' lad
With a heart o' gold
He'll be missed, you can bet
May God rest his soul
We'll leave his mug on the bar
Just in case some day
Johnnie wakes with a mighty thirst
And happens back this way
Once so a man who likes running;
He's barefoot is fast and so cunning;
Was urgent sure not so quiet mountainair;
He couldn't say no to a marathon;
Runs Johnnie run
