Premium Member My Shortcomings

MY SHORTCOMINGS ARE OVERWHELMING - HOWEVER MY STRENGTHS ARE DEFEATING THEM - POETRY CONTEST

I stood there,
...slowly...
I removed my clothes...
you could tell that my date who was
about to see me naked for the first time
was...was...well...EXCITED!
I was worried she would slide off her seat.

shirt?
gone!
sexy...

pants?
gone!
sexy...

one piece
long underwear?

an obvious crowd pleaser
I did not time it
but it was a long time
for her to get over her joy.
at one point I think she stopped breathing
she was definitely moved
there were tears in her eyes
I believe her hysteria was a nervous laugh
she was laughing
hard.

long underwear?
gone!

finally naked
I stood there exposed
the look on her face
was not good,
I am sure I could hear,
a song blaring loudly in her mind
"Is that all there is, is that all there is..."

My shortcomings are overwhelming,

I was embarrassed
I was angry

I wanted to be mature about the situation,
immediately,
instantly,
I stuck my tongue out at her,
my twelve inch tongue,
I think she noticed I could breathe through my ears
her face lit up
once again she fell off her seat

My shortcomings are overwhelming,

both naked I started pleasing her
she yells
"there is a God!"

However my strengths are defeating them.

that's it,

Ok

you can leave now,

Goodbye

excuse me this next part is private,

LEAVE!

write this in an attempt to overcome my deppression
thank you for the oppurtunity Verena.

Laughter is the best medicine...unless your a diabetic...
....and then insulin...insulin is the best medicine.

Epitaph For the Test Dogs

Epitaph for the Test Dogs

What you did for us, not many know,
because you did it so long ago.
Victoria’s reign to flapper days,
you lived in labs while other dogs played.

Pancreas removed from each of you,
you were, then, rendered diabetic too.
Were insulin shots something to trust?
Since they worked for you, they were tried on us.

They worked like magic when they were tried.
Type I diabetics no longer died.
To you, furry friends, this tribute we give.
You gave up normal lives so we could live.

My Diabetes

My Diabetes
Getting Type 1 Diabetes has changed my life.
It often gives me lots of grief and lots of strife.
How I wish I could give it a way,
But come what may, it is here to stay.
Four shots a day of insulin I give.
Without these I have no chance to live.
Daily tests I have to do,
And the HBA1C is the one I need for my annual review.
Then come the 3 monthly doctor visits,
Sometimes long, but often last minutes.
Eyesight is a big thing for me.
Going blind would mean I cannot see.
Type 1 Diabetes was not by choice,
And although I have it I can add my voice,
To find a cure for everyone of course.

Natiional Diabetes Month

Needles and strips. Feet that's sore.
Aches and pains. Meters that store.

Numbers go up. Then they go down.
Cookies and pasta and cake all around!

Daily walks. Nutritious food.
Cinnamon helps. Some herbs do.

Fenugreek, bromelain and boswellia stew.
Fish and pumpkin oils fight inflamation in you.

Drink lots of water. Alcohol's taboo.
Loose the smokes. And spare tire to!

Sweating, shaking, tingling lips.
Too much insulin can do all this.

Or don't eat enough or over exercise.
Can knock you right out. Yes even die!

Glucose tabs. Keep close at hand.
Diabetes can be so grand!......

Cold Blooded Diabetes

Cold blooded diabetes
Try to stop her
If you can because
Insulin shots are not fun
But they must be given
When you're dealing with

Cold blooded diabetes
Will ravage your body
 it can cause gangrene
And limb amputation
So take good care of yourself
When you deal with

Cold blooded diabetes
After you're diagnosed
Doctors will say
Exercise, manage your diet
And please lose some weight
Just because you deal with

Cold blooded diabetes
If you haven't got it yet
Please try to prevent
The neuropathy that accompanies
The body's breakdown
For those who deal with

Cold blooded diabetes

Non-Duality

With respect to digestion, we talk of two fates
The absorptive and post absorptive states.

Think of a meal as earning a wage.
You may use a bit but you’ll save some, if sage.
And the ratio is something you always must gauge.
It can certainly change as one does age.

Up to four hours after a meal
Before your insides are resting from their zeal
Insulin is governing lots of the chemistry
In your body’s energy registry.
It promotes glycogenesis, glycogen production
The storage of glucose, a major reduction.
Lipogenesis will also take place
After a meal at an increased pace.
And of course, protein synthesis also increases
As your body builds up new pieces.

But after four hours, post absorptive will dominate
And glucagon is the hormone that it will nominate.
It will cause the breakdown of things that were built
So that sources are available when you need them to the hilt.
It promotes glycogenolysis, the reverse of the above
Because now your blood glucose might need a shove.
Lipolysis, too, is also promoted
Proteolysis as well, just as devoted.

While insulin and glucagon both promote their actions
They also inhibit the other’s reactions.

100cc

An insulin syringe seems so small
Tiny actually
And all the things they can hold
Is almost too much to fathom

These little tubes
Can hold your car and your house
And as crazy as this sounds
Even your spouse

100cc's full of your hopes
and your dreams
If this sounds too extreme
Just take it from me

These things can hold
Your family and your friends
And theres still plenty of room
For each of your kids

They'll hold your future
Even your past
And they've never failed
To fill up fast

So with this warning
What will you do
Risk it or not
It's all up to you

In the blink of an eye
Your worlds turned into a transparent liquid
It's all that's left
What will you do with it

An Ode To Insulin

Last night was tremendous,
I made love with the super *****
Parted the defense of thick blood,
seized the bruised belly
You are my guardian angel.
You melt the frozen heart.
For the odor of your sperm,
releases me from the smell of the abyss.

What Is Love

Shakespeare wrote that "Love is blind"

Lennon told us "Love is the flower you've got to let grow"

Proust believed "Love is space and time measured by the heart"

Segal said "Love means never having to say you're sorry"

Yesterday,
when I told a pharmacist that
I have to inject my diabetic
cat with insulin twice a day,
she said "that sir, is truly love"

Who to believe?

In Spite of Miling Frustration

IN SPITE OF MILING FRUSTRATION

Let not the miles and mile
Downs and frustrates
Our longings and hoarse feelings
As distance is another promise
To remain steadfastly true.

Frustration is wishful distraught alkaline
Keeping us to be alive
Through artificial life sustaining button
Hindrance is an insulin
To be posted from time to time.

If not of the indispensability
Living apart is a dare
Traversing from place to place
Our memories enlivening
As muteness and alexia demise.

Of fruitful vows
To contain and cure loneliness
Communicating is stalling
Homesickness
Drying the tears subside somewhere!

Banana

She was like a banana.
The best part of her was on the inside.
The amount of insulin I'd need trying to devour her whole.
God knows how much I love the thought of that.
The effect she'd have on me.
Each time I'd see her I'd unravel her piece by piece until all of her shown like never before.
The only problem was I was allergic to bananas.
Although her smell was intoxicating.
One taste of her and my throat would instantly swell.
Though I wouldn't prefer anything artificial.
I wanted the real thing.
When I revealed all of this to her she just laughed.
She laughed her ass off as a matter of fact.
Rocking back and forth.
Her little brown shoes clicking together.
Her yellow skin now a bit red.
Her freckles now in full view.
When I asked why she laughed she said its quite alright.
Most people I've met speak so highly of themselves.
Your the first person to admit you correctly know how to open a banana
