Labyrinth of Sighs
Labyrinth of Sighs

Wondering through a labyrinth of sighs
More platitudes with attitudes that never question why
A litany of afterthoughts about where we go when we die
An emboldened range of rude retorts refuting the reasons why I cry

A canon blazing wartime over...

Groundhog day 2024 or Forty one days since 2023 Winter Solstice
Groundhog day 2024 or Forty one days since 2023 Winter Solstice

Rather than be a day late
and dollar short, I opted
to post poem acknowledging
the second of February,
where eponymous groundhog
gets his (most often male)
foretelling whether there will be
six more weeks of winter upon oblate
spheroid...

Jazz
I have a strong need to elucidate my unfathomable love for
You,
named JAZZ

The improvisational sound of ragtime and jive.
Bop to the bebop of your rhythmic stride.

O what you do.
You,
named JAZZ

As I rouse everyday to harmonious sounds.
Melodies of synthesizers playing, sotto voce, with Caribbean tinkling drums...

Handling Heartbreak
handling heartbreak
i become dependent on movement
two pints of oreo ice cream later
i retrace my steps on purpose
interrogation light on me interrogated
by me, myself, and i
a bunch of ice cubes in the bed
a hot water bottle on my now bald head
several pills on both end tables
alcoholic...

And join (singing the words

The Crescendo of the Void
A linguistic symphony composed of superior vocabulary intricately braided into a formidable fabric of such dimensions as to consume the accessible volume approaching a coherent and comprehensive declaration without convergence and with sufficient obfuscation, redirection and commentary to frustrate attempts to ascertain the essential conceptual...

How I took for granted, thee!
Now, reaching an age, I began to ponder.
Their truly outstanding history.
Hands that once with grand wonderment
stared at crayon colors.

Tanned, dimpled hands of a girl
Who on beaches made sand castles!
Whilst the waters of Lake Michigan swirled.
And above her pigtailed head,
Clouds...

I am reading Wendell Berry stories
again,
still,
today.

And notice
over these past several weeks
he unfolds two bipolar themes.

Berry is,
was,
a cooperative Southern neighborhood farmer
of organic hospitality.
His protagonists grow on multigenerational farms
as Berry grows into writing while farming,
thereby farming readers
co-investing in cooperative
organic
ego-feeding
ecosystems.

But Berry's NegativEnergy tension
emerges against nationalistic
anti-productive family
automated...

What do healthy systems,
naturally spirited,
ecologically enlightened
and ego-politically empowered swell

Wellness
anthro-economic networks
wonder,
often wander around
what do wealthy mindbody systems do
when the Body squarely says
"I'm doing all I can comfortably do"

And the unsatisfied Mind asks
"Why is my need for healthy integrity
neglected
deflected
ignored
unrestored?"
at least half
my less than thriving
time
in your embodied space

Just waiting in line to register for college courses.
I did not relish such crowded coarseness.

Then, mon Dieux, my eyes fixed upon you, lost was I!
Your brown eyes, made me feel like I was flying in the rainbows
Of a star phantasmagorical sky.

No, I told myself,...
