Nicholas, My Boy
idiotically, baby, grandchild, love,
The joy of birth, the growing up,
leads us to adore our lovely babies.
But not, alas, without the toils of life.
For we experience lack of sleep,
idiotically, introspection, life, city,
The eternal buzz of city anglers
brash, angry, hornets ever selling egos.
Shrieking anxiety laced, analog, syllables, idiotically.
Hoping against hope, urchins, desperations end,
strumming ancient chords in vain...

If I could but do things all over again,
retrace my steps back to where I started,
I would do things quite differently.
