Best Gump Poems
'Twas an emotional movie portraying the saga of a loveable chump.
'Twas about a hapless lad by the curious name of Forrest Gump!
He overcame handicaps that from birth were to be his plight,
And it seemed that everything he did, eventually turned out right!
He acted bravely when he saved the life of Lieutenant Dan.
From that point, a lifetime of devotion and friendship began!
Naive though he was, somehow Forrest always achieved,
Notable, of course, was the Medal of Honor he received!
Alas, he was wounded in a somewhat delicate place!
But he accepted this and other reverses with amazing grace!
When Forrest became wealthy from his shrimp boat enterprise,
He gave Bubba's Momma a generous check, much to her surprise!
His life turned out pretty well, after all was said and done.
He married his first love, Jenny, who gave him a little son!
He'd heard an axiom his Momma taught since he lay in a bassinette:
"Life is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you'll get!"
Gump's role was handled masterfully by Tom Hanks of movie fame,
And it heaped upon his brow well-deserved honors and acclaim!
Mister Hanks will be long remembered for his remarkable role,
And the attributes of the indomitable American spirit it did extol!

Forrest Gump
No simpler a life and greater a voice,
one who struggled with stigma,
learned by other’s choice.
Held simple words to heart, made sense when others not,
never wavered in fear,
was patient to a fault.
Kindness was all, he felt all the time.
He whispered her name,
time after time.
His heart on his sleeve so innocent and true
no greater words,
than his Momma knew.
Believed in his job a soldier so proud
Saved all his men ,
a hero not proud.
With Bubba his friend, his life he went on
Loved all he could,
with empty arms.
All his life lessons, he knew way before
emotional intelligence
right to the core.
He ran through his life, on a road traveled by few
A hero, successful,
a heart pure and true.
And though we may bother with status and flair
He showed us the way,
to handle life’s cares.
No moaning and groaning or pity and hate
Momma always said,
“Life’s like a box of chocolates
never know what you get.”
Forrest in his simplicity,
loved to munch;
not just any delicasy,
but loved chocolate.
No matter how many,
U.S. presidents he got to meet;
he always came back,
to eat his chocolate treat.
So why was he still thin,
no need to go on a fast;
indeed Forrest Gump is a star,
from start till the very last.

Sir Gumpity Gump was a frog in a stump,
And he lived by a pond full of lilies,
And he wore rubber boots that were sloppy and loose,
But the other frogs thought he looked silly.
He hopped through the mud and he swam through the flood,
But his boots wouldn't keep out the water,
For they filled up inside and it halted his stride,
And they soaked up the flood like a blotter.
Young Croakity Croak was a frog with a coat,
That would keep him dry when it was raining,
But the coat didn't work when the water would squirt,
So, Young Croakity started complaining.
He spoke with Sir Gumpity; said it's not fair,
Getting wet through his coat when it's raining,
Said he needed some boots that were sloppy and loose,
And he kept on complaining, complaining.
Sir Gumpity figured he needed a coat,
For the boots didn't seem to be working,
So they traded right there and they thought it was fair,
But the weather got wetter and murky.
Now Gumpity Gump always hides in his stump,
For the coat doesn't keep out the water,
And young Croakity Croak has two feet that are soaked,
For his boots lap it up like a blotter.
I’m running over other ones to mine.
My thoughts my father taught. How black to white
is harvest to wheat. How an out of line
woman is kept. How I should act polite
in their company kept. Dad bought a beater
for me at seventeen. He’s never wrong.
I love this truck more than life. I teeter
with what makes it run. Keeps it going strong
for what I play with friends on dusty roads
on a dry summer day here in Greenbow.
We shoot our pellet guns at horny toads.
We chase the retard ‘round – all just to show.
See what happens when born to be different?
He’s running now. Far. Further, you’re present.

Character Role: The unnamed driver of the truck that chased Forrest Gump out of his iron clad legs into the future. He had no lines in the movie with which to explain why he did.
Ken Mattingly is mad
about being cut from the Apollo 13 crew -
now no one will see his zero-gravity backflip
until a later time, by then no one will care.
Tom Hank’s Luna capsule spins out of control;
ever since the Da Vinci Code
he has been wrestling with his inner demons.
Gravity has put a few pounds on George Clooney
no one notice, as he gracefully spins
around the space junk of a starry firmament.
The Redcoats attack, and his son is taken.
He runs through the woods
tomahawk and musket akimbo.
Mel Gibson is not ideal for the part,
but sober 18th century Indian fighters
are hard to find.
Lord Cornwallis has lost his pet dogs
and will soon lose Virginia -
he will miss his dogs.
The movie star is on fire. Denzel
has gone ape-s...t,
he thinks the little girl is dead,
but she has a long career ahead of her.
The Last of the Mohicans
have built a casino in Connecticut,
and are now living in Hollywood.
The soon to be legless Lt. Dan
is absolutely not a loser
according to Gump.
Gump, like many Americans
could not find Mexico City on a map.
Gary Sinise does his backflip
as crowds of Mexicans look to the heavens
watching alien spaceships
perform their well-documented
fly-by.
