Forest Gump
Forrest Gump
No simpler a life and greater a voice,
one who struggled with stigma,
learned by other’s choice.
Held simple words to heart, made sense when others not,
never wavered in fear,
was patient to a fault.
Kindness was all, he felt all the time.
He whispered her name,
time after time.
His heart on his sleeve so innocent and true
no greater words,
than his Momma knew.
Believed in his job a soldier so proud
Saved all his men ,
a hero not proud.
With Bubba his friend, his life he went on
Loved all he could,
with empty arms.
All his life lessons, he knew way before
emotional intelligence
right to the core.
He ran through his life, on a road traveled by few
A hero, successful,
a heart pure and true.
And though we may bother with status and flair
He showed us the way,
to handle life’s cares.
No moaning and groaning or pity and hate
Momma always said,
“Life’s like a box of chocolates
never know what you get.”
