Best Gawks Poems

Premium Member In Fuzzy Socks and Crocs

To town he goes in fuzzy socks and crocs.
Do watch him! See how proudly that he walks.
He likes the way that everybody gawks
as he strolls down the city’s many blocks.
He bets they’re thinking, “What a silver fox!”
Whereas THEY think his head is filled with rocks.
How comfortable his crocs. How warm his socks.
He feels so good. Down by one of the docks
where street performers strut around like cocks,
I plug my ears. He’s playing his squeez-box!

Catwalks
Crowd gawks

Wont style
Forced smile

Strike pose
Fake nose

Weird strut
Flat butt

Scant curves
Unnerves

Small-hipped
Lunch skipped

Stick-thin
Chagrin

Faux tan
Pecan

Plucked brow
Used plough?

Long lash
Bleached 'tache

Plump lips
Veiled nips

Waxed mound
Astound

Forebear
Despair

Sweet girls
Morph churls

Sly pout
Grim trout

Taut thighs
All lies

Make hot
Post-shot

Airbrushed
Not hushed

Mere gaud
Defraud

Model?
Twaddle!

Broken Wings

She's split amongst the two
One a girl unheard of,
Few see little from
Who gawks at the slivered moon
through blotchy eyes,
Welled up tears as big as moon pies
The other a girl who holds up her fibs
Conjurring by magic,
A cloak to mask the lies
Who catches tears before they slip
Neither bangs or pursed lips
Can hide the sadness in her eyes
Both are placed with broken wings
She pulls her head together and flies
ME; this one note she sings

Empty Coffee Cup -Personification-

Whispering, waiting
it sits on front of me,
telling me to have more
but, still it sits lonely.

It looks at me; wanting, waiting
wants to have a comforting moment with me,
should I, shouldn't I?
Mint green coffee cup sits empty.

"I'll keep your coffee safe
so you can sip it slow,
let the rich aroma fill your nostrils
gently as it goes."

I give in to temptation
it won't let me be,
waiting, whispering
my full coffee cup gawks with glee.

Wow!!! Never thought my empty coffee cup would ever have a conversation with me. I'll never leave it lonely again. :O)

Premium Member Whispering Leaves

Autumn brings leaves in multifarious hues,
Time's flow quickly readies us for winter's blow.
Fun days on our patios will soon turn to blues,
As it takes its leisure neath a blanket of snow.

The Sycamores have shed like some molting dog,
And each Crape Myrtle is dressed a yellowish red.
The huge Hackberry resembles an old upright log,
Now, too soon our days may be filled with dread.

The Hibiscuses are a gathering of pithy stalks,
Where once dinner plate size red flowers hung.
Now no cars come, stop and give strange gawks,
But things will be normal once spring has sprung.

Fallen leaves unmistakably are whispering to me,
Dancing at my feet they swirl along the ground.
As if they can't decide where they're supposed to be,
Each movement choreographed to whispering sound.

A Scottish Dinking Song-Story

A Scottish Drinking Song-Story

A Scotsman clad in kilt left the bar one
evening fair, and one could tell by how
he walked that he drank more than his share.
He stumbled of into the grass to sleep beside
the street.
About that time two young and lovely girls
just happened by.
One says to the other with a twinkle in her eye,
“ See yon sleeping Scotsman so strong and
handsome built, I wonder if it’s true they don’t
wear beneath the kilt?”

They crept up on that sleeping Scotsman quiet
as could be, lifted up his kilt about one inch so
they could see, and there behold for them to view
beneath his Scottish shirt was nothing more than
God had graced him with upon his birth.

They marveled for a moment then one said,
“ We must be gone, let’s leave a present for our
friend before we move along.”
As a gift they left a blue silk ribbon tied into a bow
around the bonnie star the Scots kilt did lift and show.

Now the Scotsman woke to nature’s call and stumbled
towards the trees behind the bushes, he lifts the kilt
and gawks at what he sees and in a startled voice he says
to what’s before his eyes.
“ Oh, lad I don’t know where you’ve been, but I see
you won first prize.”

Soothing Stress

With the chalk,
Teachers' hearts knock
Students flock;
Goats, we overstock
And sheep, we unlock!

With our talks,
Teachers' mouths stalk
Lazy students' works,
Discipline the ones that balk,
And reinforce the gawks!

With our walks,
Knowledge toast to hawk
Teachers nighthawk;
Going days overwork,
Reactivating students' blocks.

Happy Teachers' day!

While the World Reveled

And he stands apart, cold
While the world wassailed and reveled
In the full glare of the light
Till dusk comes beckoning.

He shrouds from the awkward embraces
A language in plethoric display.
His frame slanted, he observes.
From vantage angle, he gawks.

What endues them such ecstasy?
He mutedly ruminates
Did we not attain the same feat?
He self-chides, raspingly.

The concern of sea-fish with dry land
Paints the image of his indifference.
While the play of celebration ensues,
The boy-man stares and sighs.

His cogitations ferry him to the road ahead
Queries of 'what now', the signs spelt.
Transfixed but detached,
He pondered tomorrow's fate for all.

He shivered with dismay
And fended off a tear.

What reads the fate of the soldier ants
When they march sun-wards?
Who aids the infant cheetah
That was birthed deformed?

While his peers wassailed and reveled.
In the full glare of the world
He looked on, frigid, still, anxious.
Feet there, soul afar.
A tinge of relief, his sole solace.

Little Cartons, Little Sacks

Little Cartons, Little Sacks

The mug of tea I drank at six,
the tea that drives me to the train,
needs a refill. At my desk,
I don’t do much. I wait
for lunch when every day
I eat so much the waitress gawks.
She doesn’t realize the years
till supper. Then I’ll dine alone again,
bolt everything that I bring home
in little cartons, little sacks.
After supper she’s not there
when the couch becomes my slab
till bed becomes my mausoleum

Stacked Rhyme: Walk a Mile In My Two Shoes

Walk a mile in my two shoes.
Stalk days, while men spy through views
Talked. Stay! Aisles thin by new pews.
Balk! Weigh miles, when eyes, who choose
Caulked ways, file sin. Cry blue blues!
Chalk gray smiles, then try to schmooze
Gawks. Pray vile kin die. True dues!

Cast Me Down

Cast me down where the devil won’t go
Send me farther than damnation
What would I have to fear?
I’ve been there before

Send me farther than damnation
Beyond the lapping flames
I’ve been there before
This darker realm

Beyond The lapping flames
A world shredded with mystery
This darker realm
Beyond the devil’s lair

A world shredded with mystery
Filled with hallow, crushing, devastating nothingness
Beyond the devil’s lair
His fire does not reach this land

Filled with hallow, crushing, devastating nothingness
Satan himself would collapse in pain
His fire does not reach this land
My fire will

Satan Himself would collapse
I will stand and walk
My fire will
Light my way

I will stand and walk
I will find my way out with my fire
To light my way
I will escape as I have before

I will find my way out with my fire
I will stand as the devil gawks at my freedom
I will escape as I have before
The darkness doesn’t scare me anymore

I will stand as the devil gawks at my freedom
He will never be as fearless as I
The darkness doesn’t scare me anymore
So cast me down where the devil won’t go

Incarceration

A welter of anxious faces gawks curiously at him,
But by now he is immune to the consternation.
His effervescent expression glows,
As he swigs down their viscous repulsion.

He knows that they will desecrate his graveyard,
Punishing him for his denial to be superfluous,
For his denial to permit flexibility in himself.
But will they incarcerate him in the walls of his mind?

His guilt has been proved in the lifelong adjudication,
Yet he never mocks their paradoxical thoughts.
The site is given a last perambulation,
And then spasmodic gun fire ends The Tale.

Premium Member The Great Horned Owl

I saw a beautiful great horned owl today while out on my nature walk
He was sitting proudly while snapping his bill and deeply hooting at me
And watching me so intensely from his predatory eyes with piercing gawks
I was delighted until I saw bloody skeletal remains under his tree

Eb's Flo

In a passion of fashion, at the height's
of female pulchritude; try as she might,
Wobbling to walk on five inch stilletos;
All she got were awkward gawks from the fellows.

So not a cat but board walk by the sea,
In a trashcan, she cast away, those shoes from her feet.
Immediately relieved in the sand standing bare;
Eyes closed, to smell and hear, seeming more aware.

As designed her designer dress, to her feet fell flimsy.
Her undone coif flowed with floating thoughts Botticelli.
She slowly approached the ocean's sound, waves rushing meaningless;
Yet covering enough of her legs; then waist, giving rebirth to Venus.
