The Blacker the Berry

THE BLACKER THE BERRY..

Misconception dims the path that leads her brown Clay
To shallow waters where she can never float like a butterfly but always stings like a bee
She is only good at germinating in dim waters like
Deep intellectual conversations
Always warrant entry into shallow society
Dictating that she could not have possibly been supple at first sight
She needed to be probed without pressing her buttons
It’s her stellar personality that beams like a floodlight in flood times
When it’s raining men but she can’t compete with the yellow flame
So she has to keep her battery charged
When she guides the men easily beguiled by the sparkling light
That has them having need for a yellow bone to chew even when they lack the appetite for it.
“Between us men, it is better than that organic fruit diet
The plate is too blackened by her sunned pigment”
The blacker the berry the sweeter her juice in private
While in public the males ride shot gun on the yellow ferry
It’s the societal Olympics where everybody needs to have the same shade trophy,
She the blacker berry watching from the sidelines while fixing her paint
A by-product of lightening products has her gaining first sight attraction
Because now she can quite be the woman to wear on his arm like a cuff link
Arresting other suitors’ attention because now she dazzles at night
And she can enjoy the benefits of her top coating
Even though deep within she is layered with insecurity.

Lavish Praise Not Sought

Painful self actualization
quickly brights to light
paltry reasons (with or
without rhyme) a desolate sight
within blinkered mindseye hindsight

grotesque grimace shocks with affright
desolate landscape
precipitated when airtight
vacuum sealed sequestered,
muckraked, furloughed...

which past existence now doth bite
back with a vengeance more agonizing
than any imaginable plight
feeble effort thru poetry
to portray psychological bombsight

cathartic, emetic, pathetic... ejection
minus (all gore rhythm)
red tattered torn flesh ala bullfight,
vigil held under
deathly hallowed candlelight
lack of living will trumped right

against autopsy, eh
scant material worth any copyright
deceased did request mourners
to revel in daylight
of life (l'chaim) delight

within simple pleasures downright
unfettered, yet respectful
of self and others fight
for peace with strong lanced arms,
yet...shy away from fistfight

while standing firm
on righteous ground,
versus passively taking flight
modestly acknowledge accomplishments,
sans reflection initial birthed floodlight
ideally rejoice asper positive contribution

within webbed, wide world despite
shortcomings vis a vis height
insight, might,... dismissing as trite
customary, healthy, quality traits
sustaining virtuous yeast

leavening kindled hindsight
carried into darkness of afterlife
soul asylum void of oblivion
analogous to eternal midnight,
where surviving kin begat,

viz biological millwright,
which sunny daughters
became darling lasses overnight
I ask do not weep, nor mourn,
neither heap exaggerated flattery, quite

upon the head of
this beastly boyish sight,
whose dying wish
expansive though slight

points to stopping for persons white
red, brown, black...since one's birth
until...final seconds usher
mortal into twilight!

Premium Member The Night the Music Died - Emotive Write

Ariana Grande’s in Manchester, she performs upon the stage
Her music and singing appeals to fans of such a tender age

Young fans sing along to the songs that they all know
And when the concert’s finally over it's time for them to go

But as they file out of the venue a terrorist’s bomb explodes
It’s chaotic, there’s hysteria as their world suddenly implodes

Medic’s rush to help the dying; and the injured they console
The scene is an apocalypse, which has spiraled out of control

A perpetual cacophony of sounds with people screaming and crying
You don’t expect to attend a concert and end up with people dying

There’s a kaleidoscope of colour from the emergency floodlight
A hollow victory for terrorism on this unforgettable May night

Window of My Soul

A floodlight burns from deep within
    where shadows dirst not go
And it's been there since the day He
      knocked
upon the window of my soul
I've come to change your life my son
    is what He softly said
As I peered out and saw His Light
and my sins 'neath crimson red
I'll warm your heart, remove the dark
and fill you with my light
If you'll but open up the door
the one there to your right
So I unlocked and learned to walk
    and arose there from below
      All because my Savior knocked
upon the window of my soul
                                          Diesel Dan

Late Nights

Late nights
I walk alone...
In a park
an ocean of water fountains.
A floodlight switched on:
It was the heart of my future
fugitive through waters...
The water laughs glittering in light...
I'm heading towards the precipice,
with hurried steps,
with eyes shut tightly.
For a second the floodlight turned off.
...and I...

Premium Member Storms

The bitter biting wind howls around my face
I’m out on the moors: such a desolate place
Dark clouds are gathering straight ahead
Wish I was at home safe in my bed

Streaks of golden lightning fill up the sky
Vivid flashes of white flash in my eye
Thunder claps deafen me, I cover my ears
Not been in a storm like this for many many years

Lightning forks fill me with fascination
I wait for the next one with great anticipation
Lighting up the sky like a massive floodlight
Thunder and lightning such a pure delight

I shelter safely by the gnarled oak tree
Its wizened old branches shielding me
Rain teems down but I am safe and dry
I shelter safely until the storm passes by

Rocky and Raquel

The floodlight went out
Just about two o'clock in the morning
But little did anyone know
That the attack was about to spring.

Being asleep in their beds
No one had realized what to think
When the sound of a clang
Meant that there was an invasion
Right in the back yard.

The pitter-patter of little feet across the brick
Led up to the built-in garbage can.
They worked very quick,
   Like two bandits in disguise,
To grab a bundle of goodies.

"But, I'll hold the lid up
   So that you can see.
It's so messy down there,
   For a girl like me."

"Okay, OKay, don't worry,
   I'll get the vittles."

Hanging over the edge,
He manages to scrounge through a pile
But figured out he was stuck in a wedge
   Against the inside wall.

He changes ges his strategic tactic just by chance,
Side by side with his accomplice,
They looked at each other at once glance.
They struck a gold mine of seafood delight,
And scurried away so excited
With their catch of the night.

Premium Member Beings of Light

In the City of Galactic Beings of light, there is no disease no feast or famine
floodlight beings from another dimension take our best interest at heart
They own Divine connection to each and every one of us
as they pour out light, truth and inspiration they help us to
stay connected to each other...
They lead us to inspired thought and action, 22 intergalactic races
living in communion as one under one big beautiful, pulsing sun
The battle has been won already, we just need to open our eyes and see
that the destruction of humanity is on a set course for a re-awakening
we will all soon move like luminous vapors into the nimbus light of God
some of us limping, some of us whole, some of us sectioned off
but we will All be loved under the big red umbrella of UNCONDITONAL LOVE

The Poem Is Dedicated To My Friend Dianne
Without Her Love And Understanding, I would not have understood
the grandeur side of this wonderful act of selfless love...

A Soul Is Divine

The Divine Soul
possesses three gifts of light.

The first ripples outward,
touching the lives of others.
The second radiates upward,
connecting to Source.
The third is a beacon,
drawing in energy from the Universe.

The Soul both gives and receives -
illuminated and illuminating.

Like a shining water lily
glistening on a pond,
it's imperceptible breath
blows rings across the surface.
This is the Soul interacting with others,
leaving impressions,
making memories,
whispering it's truth.

A floodlight in the flower's center
reaches through darkness,
tethered to Spirit
who protects it from above.

Butterflies are drawn
to the glowing petals -
messages from Angels,
signs from beyond.

When we see
the brilliant trinity of all we inhale
and all we expel,
we become one with the Soul of our creation.

Premium Member Into the Woods To Save Another

I ceased to be me when I heard the young one’s screams.
They were coming from the woods, between my two streams.
Her shrieking was terrifyingly real, not like on fantasy TV.
It felt like a young woman was being murdered
which was good enough for me.

I ran for our big floodlight, without thinking about myself at all.
Into the woods we ran, my three dogs, me and my bravest cousin, Paul.
Her shrieks sounded closer now. They were the loudest to our right.
Suddenly something grabbed me by my arm. It was the biggest fright!

A voice whispered close to my ear, “Shh!” as a man held me into place.
Greatly relieved to hear Paul, as I could not in the dark see his face.
“Don’t you know what that is?” he whispered. “What?” I barely whispered back.
“That’s a bobcat’s cry,” he told me. “If it is threatened, it might attack.”

We immediately headed back to the house. The dogs followed
a few hours later.
The last time I was this scared, we were in Florida,
where I had seen a wild, loose alligator.

When You Smile Like That

When you smile you glow hard
Like a floodlight, the brightness of which could drown out the misery in even a dark soul and uplift it on rising currents of hope. If I had to use words to describe it I would say it was captivating, mystifying, even magnetic. The kind where people can't help but steal a glance, and maybe even take a chance. No this poem isnt about romance (maybe I'm lying) but I love smiles like that. They're like defibrillators to the chest, but you never hear "Clear" and you just get a pleasant shock is all, from being touched by blissful energy that has the beauty of poetry, inspiring hearts have a change in rhythm and scribble odes to it across EKGs, with no ink just their own electricity. Thats what a smile like that does.

Moon shed maximum bulb shares us
her grey making floodlight flash beam
Hitting front sides bright, the rest seen
by cautious shuffle, by textured touch

Forest in scratched cotton, we wander, lost
Find ourselves intrigued by her windswept
Tree top violent fighting, underneath kept
Becalmed below canopy' s tantrum tossed

Frail lady limbs lift in praise of invisibility
Humans don't usually walk in the dark
Quiver leaf edges wave light seeking spark
Together no register of dark difficulty

Trek begun in afternoon's everlong promise
Assured us fireplace evening in holiday home
True to weekend whimsy, we went without phone
Too hazy to feel when dusk tamped upon us

Blinking regularly at beacon moon vivid
Busy branch hands reach to tangle my hair
You strip it from me, supplant yours there
Scooped, encaved by you, lips delivered

Questioned, will this ease our fear, kisses
Colourless mouths drive and receive message
Clarity in your signalling lips impressive
Way home where we are, present, viscious

Biting reminds me, intensity of life is vital
Your intent brings surety, my body flourishes
Urge to absorb your heartbeat encourages
Chest connection pulsate, music to cry to

Roar of angered branches above turn timid
      Spectators to human demonstration
Star ceiling winks at our illicit illustration
Hushed forest watches as flush is kindered

Closer isn't enough, heat travels free of clothes
Bottom on moss embankment sponge flung
Entangled in forest enamour, ice fingers stung
Blood streams bravely over stoney shallows

You become the hum of frantic tree faces
      Merged mammoth canopy caresses me
I chorus with owl implore carelessly
One with lost pressed urgent embraces
